The RC into Antisemitism thinks SBS and ABC are too Anti-Israel but would never report on things like this BBC report.
The SBS and ABC are way too pro Israel in my opinion. Their reports never actually push back against Israel’s version of events even when clearly fabricated. Idk how anyone can watch this and not feel disgusted. SBS and ABC barely show this sort of thing.
This BBC report shows how IDF and settlers work hand in hand and terrorise people living in the West Bank. Their actions are very reminiscent of the gangs of German citizens terrorising Jews living in Germany during the rise of the Nazi party before the start of WW2. History is repeating itself and the IDF encourages it.
Do you still view the US as an Ally to Australia?
Does anyone else feel like the US (government) is no longer an ally to Australia. Over the past few years watching how the United States has acted which goes against the values I thought western nations stood for, I now view them as morally corrupt. They have zero respect for international law and do whatever they want because they can and I no longer respect them. Their undying support for Israel and genocide. Their attempts to dismantle the science and medical field to fit their view of things. The way they govern the world with such a double standard it’s almost comical (Iran, Venezuela, ICC, UN)
I grew up thinking the US were the good guys but now I’m realising it’s just cos I watched Hollywood movies. I also realise that not every American supports the current government. I’m only saying this because recently with respect to the Iran war I’ve realised I have been rooting for Iran.
Do British people actually think people holding “I Support Palestine Action” signs are terrorists?
Aussie here. I have seen so many videos of people being arrested holding signs/saying they support Palestine Action. Do the majority of Brits actually view these people as terrorists. To me it seems crazy these people are being viewed the same as ISIS and other terror groups.
Is anyone else deeply concerned about Jillian Segal's comments on regulating Australian media to ensure Israel is portrayed positively?
Listening to the Royal Commission is feels like there is a clear agenda to link criticism of Israel and its actions with antisemitism in Australia. What is even more concerning is how Jillian Segal wants to regulate media such as ABC and SBS so that they portray Israel positively because she thinks media reporting on Israel's actions is leading to growing antisemitism in Australia. Ofcourse she doesn't think it is the actions of Israel causing this but independent media reporting on it. Could this really become a recommendation of the RC and implemented by the government?
Here are some comments she made;
"We should find a way where they also run positive stories"
"They could run positive stories about other things Israel is doing, the amazing startup nation, things like that. They very rarely do that. There is no attempt at that part of the agenda.”
Discussing reports how Israel was starving children in Gaza, Segal described them as "a very negative story" and to maintain balance "there should have been a positive story about what Israel was doing positively in the Middle East to feed children."
Anti-Palestine people - What *should* Palestine do when foreigners invade and target civilians, murdering and kidnapping them?
Should they just roll over and allow religious extremists to do whatever they want to their civilians? How would you handle this if it happened to the country you lived in?
What proportion of savings should I have in shares vs bank accounts?
I’ve (30m) only recently started investing my money in the stock market and still not sure how much of my savings I should put into the stock market. I currently have 60k in bank accounts and have 35k in shares. I don’t have any big expenses in the near future so wondering if I should be putting more into shares but also not sure what proportion is normal.
