Carpe: Predatory Subscription Process, Do Not Buy

EDIT: After multiple emails to Carpe, advising them I have filed a complaint with the BBB(which I actually did and fully intended to pursue) and left this review on multiple other sites, they have emailed me saying luckily they were able to “catch my order” before it shipped. Seems all very scammy and shady as they first clearly stated they can’t do that once an order is created as they process and ship too quickly. So, it seems like they didn’t even check first before giving me their general spiel. It did take a lot of back and forth for them to cancel it and refund me though, because they first offered a full refund for in store credit, then a 50% refund and keep the product, then a full refund if I paid for return shipping with tracking and insurance once I received the package. I advised them I was not happy with any of those options and would continue with my complaint process with the BBB and they contacted me quickly advising of the order cancellation and full refund. I’m glad and thankful they finally cancelled and refunded, but man, was that a hassle. I would have been a repeat customer as I like the product but I don’t repeat deal with companies that are less than honest in their marketing and/or business practices. Honestly around $90 may not seem like much, but for deodorant and a surprise charge, in this economy especially, it would have been significant loss. I know other people have had this happen so I hope this post helps you to hopefully not even order the first time or be hyper vigilant to not subscribe if you do.

I ordered about a month ago with Carpe, but it did not mention it being subscription based. I truly thought I was ordering once just to try the product. Moving forward though I will NOT be ordering from Carpe ever again as their predatory subscription process is very misleading and dishonest. I originally ordered 4 sticks of their deodorant product and haven’t even gotten through my first stick when I recently got a notice of Carpe charging me for Another 4 sticks less than a month later for close to $100. I mean, who really needs that much deodorant? No one, and I think they know that and are taking advantage of people with their marketing. And, since the order hasn’t shipped, why can’t I just cancel the order, their company site shows once an order is created they can’t cancel it and I have no idea why not. I also can’t even cancel my subscription right now with the order created so it’s like they’ve taken my card hostage until the order ships which feels very scary to be honest as I do not want to be charged by Carpe yet again and they’ve proven to be a very deceptive company. Additionally, I cannot even edit or delete my card information on their company site as it shows that they don’t have the capability to do so “in-app” which makes no sense either as I was on their website. I would not recommend this company to anyone I know and have contacted them for a full refund and cancellation of the 2nd surprise order and the subscription. I’ve seen other reviews that their customer service is abysmal though so I am hoping they are actually helpful in this matter, but I have low hopes based on what I’ve read.
