A no date 5512B?

https://preview.redd.it/lhc1mluihbbh1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=a977e071a397c45da926c18c674e679b99843ce8

Your WD5512 is an outstanding watch as is. Love mine. Seemingly others love theirs as well.

I would be thrilled to have a no-date version as well, without a ghosted date wheel.

It would virtually be a RE:114060. I'd be thrilled. The newest version of the no-date with a more traditional slimmed down case and lugs would also have great appeal no doubt. But you have so many thinsg right on the current 5512B a no date of the same watch would be a thrill for many of us.

the better 5512B request?

5512B shown here. An amazing watch.

In my watch fantasy world tonight. A new 5512? Built as you have already done, in the most recent version of the 5512, using the Sea-Gull st2130 v-grade moment, add a bracelet that adjusts with screws, not pins, and make the case from titanium with the same quality of bezel action as the current model in steel. Nothing terribly wrong with the case as is, but slimming down the lugs, like the newest originals would promote more sales and stave off the immediate complaints as to why you decided not to.

As is? I simply love this watch.

New single pass strap coming shortly....I'm thinking it was worth the wait.

WOE had promised something along these lines a few months back. The CAT is an updated RAF single pass, built with fabric keepers, a better buckle and hopefully to a higher standard than the norm. Having owned more than one strap from WOE I am happy to see this one being produced.

Welcome the WOD CAT strap.

What seems to be a WDs upgrade...not yet mentioned?

u/watcthdives ??!!

Typical production WDs 5513 of any generation at "12:00" center. A 5512B on the left. And the triple lock crown, of a Roles Submariner, on the right.

I like the look of the extra O ring and what I see on the 5512B. Is the 5512B a single seal on the crown? Double seal? Or "the grail", triple seal, on the crown? If anyone actually knows what is going on here, I'd love to hear it?! Whatever the results the o-ring showing sure looks to be impressive on a $170 watch! u/watchdives

Watchdives WD5513P PT5000 Automatic Dive Watch – Vintage Sub Style, Sapphire, 200M WR – WATCHDIVES

Very mild patina on the printed dial and hands. Great loom and a date. All under a slightly domed sapphire crystal. A much-improved bracelet that is hard not to like. Best latch to date. Awesome watch!

A short discussion on actual accuracy.

A couple of days ago one of the tool-watch centric, Instagram accounts asked, "what is on your wrist". The typical response is from some sort of a legitimate tool watch, generally but not always Swiss in origin. A lot of micro brands represented as well, with watches almost always in the $1000+ to $2500-$3000 range if not quadruple the highest number I've quoted here.

A new Rolex 16610 in 1995 being treated like the tool it was designed to be. It wasn't long after this that they became \"man bling\" jewelry.

True or not, mentioning a Chinese watch running at the equal to or better than 98% (in my lengthy experience) of any Swiss mechanical tool watch was not welcomed.

I'm not a Watchdives fan boy. I have a number of watches to choose from. What matters to me is how durable and just as importantly, how accurate a watch is. It is what it is, numbers don't lie. Watch reviewers? Not always so easy to sort that subject out.

So, no one's fan boy. I just like a good watch that I can rely on in hard use. From carrying a gun professionally, to back-country, wilderness skiing. A reliable and accurate watch is important to me. What a watch costs is not a part of my equation, for a "good watch".

And I have no problem making legitimate comparisons and publishing them.

Here are a couple of interesting observations. Make of it what you like.

A WDs 5512B. Watch was set 2 weeks ago on Atomic time. And then worn 24/7 or left on a winder. Only noticeable deviation has been a second or two slow or fast in that time frame, as big wind and thunderstorms and the resulting changes in air pressure have rolled through. With the watch eventually coming back to, or very close to -0- spd within 48 hours every time.

WD5512B $159. delivered in the US.

Tudor Pelagos Ultra, $6900 retail

The Ultra was set to atomic time 72 hrs ago. Current msrp retail is $6900 plus tax. One of the most accurate Swiss mechanical watches I have owned.. The Ultra is and has been since day 1, running at +1spd if you like it or not and well within the current METAS standards. METAS has certainly left COSC standards in the past century, where they rightfully belong.

WD5513q in vintage black

This WDs 5513q was set to atomic time almost exactly 2 months ago. And is by far the thinnest, lightest and easiest to wear watch of the three. $135 delivered in the US.

A Tudor FXD, the most accurate mechanical I currently own. MSRP, $5025. retail.

Sorry about the confusing times posted on the different watches. I had forgotten to add the FXD in the original post. Worth knowing I suppose, my grandfather's, hand wound, 1903, Waltham railroad watch, is every bit its equal for accuracy long term.

1903 Waltham railroad watch. It still keeps accurate time.

The FXD shown above, retails for $5025 currently and was set to atomic time a few weeks ago. Currently @ a +3 second overall time gain for those 2 weeks while on a winder the majority of time. Still great results for a mechanical. tool watch.

I love a good mechanical watch. But one might question the rational of "why". And even more importantly, "why the cost" of a Euro?

EVERYONE loves the cyclops!

WDs 5512B with a Seagull movement

I added that title intentionally, because I know there are a good many here that literally HATE the cyclops on any watch :-)

So, who here knows anything about the 5512B? u/ginwatchdives

I want to remove the cyclops. Is it glued on and easily be taken off with a little heat to loosen the glue? Or part of the crystal and a permeate fixture on the 5512B? Thanks for the help!

Love the watch BTW. PT5000 and all. Photo and timing is after a 12 day run wearing it 24/7. Not bad for any Swiss mechanical, as in ANY Swiss mechanical. Even better for an under $200, Chinese mechanical. 8-)

5513v3 P, in limited numbers?

The original proposed production numbers on the PT5000 version WDs posted 4+ months ago.

The "plain", black Mercedes, date, sold out quickly with only 50 pieces produced. Which makes me think I should have bought the mild patina we all wanted, blue, date, weeks ago. From the original lineup it was high on my list of "wants". I am not sure how I missed it. Problem solved now. If you have been around WDs long, as we all know, when they are gone.......they are generally, really gone for good.

How to justify a homage?

https://preview.redd.it/8kv2dr93xi3h1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=c9d0cd3ebaeeea4c589438560d257df97ecef75c

In the watch world I justify the homages I own by the cost. The best (WDs makes a good argument for being one of the best) make YOU think you're wearing the real thing. I like the feeling and the price! The best of the best might make everyone else think you are wearing the original ;-) This morning I was at my doctor's office. He is a watch guy. And he knows I am a watch guy. At one point in the examine he stops and says, "Hey! Nice watch!". Something like that happens maybe every 5 years..maybe.....and I wear some really nice watches by anyone's standards.

Today I was wearig a WD5512B. He thought it was the same Rolex Submariner he was wearing. I didn't correct him LOL. A no-chit, true story!

A seriously good, Rolex Submariner Homage? It's here!

It's wet but not that deep ;-)

And not a watch I even thought I wanted. Let alone one I'd bother wearing. Turns out it is almost exactly what I wanted. Now I am here pimping it! In a watch case full of great watches, this one is actually a surprising stand out worth noticing.

A second 5512B this week!

https://preview.redd.it/yqbyorphh03h1.jpg?width=1178&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8ee0fc65937ac36f3699c808f84a091921c0e9c4

I have at least 15 versions of WDs' -dive specific- watches. Both quartz and automatics. I also have a couple of versions of the Roex Submariner and a few of the current divers from Tudor, CWC, and Scurfa. I've pretty much owned one version or another of every popular mainstream dive watch over the last 30 years. Not a brag but so you know I try to make real world comparisons with watches I own and actually use as intended....as tools.

The WDs' 5512B version showed up today. It was running fast so the first thing I did after a 6 hr. "check in" was demagnetize it. We'll see if that helps. But easy movements (all the ETA2824 and clones) to regulate properly. I'll know more in the morning aka 12 hrs from now. There is a whole other story to tell behind the 5512B. I bought it to check out my first Seagull ST2130 movement. At the moment my first impression is "no better or worse" than a ETA 2824-2, the Sellita SW200 or a PT5000. I am sure someone will take offense to that comparison. I'm just relating my personal experience. My comments are worth what you paid for them. We'll see what the near future brings up for an education on another Chinese movement shortly.

Movement aside there are a bunch of details on the 5512B that I want to get into on this watch that I was aware of prior to purchase and some I was not.

With only 8 hrs on my wrist I have to say I am again impressed with WDs product line. This one is a clone of the (new, not newest) bigger (40MM) cased, (40mm bezel) Rolex Submariner, dated version. It is a chunky watch! But more on the details coming up tomorrow. So far? Quick read is "Great watch and east to wear on a strap!" More to come asap.

WD5512B is a very clean homage of the 116610 Ceramic Bezel Insert

OK, 24 hrs into this on now.

Last night's effort? "It is now 9hrs later. Slept in the watch last night. The watch is currently running +3 seconds fast to atomic time. I started out much faster, so I am a lot closer now to having this one regulated properly. My guess is the demagnetizing did help but the watch also needed to be regulated internally as well."

There is a lot going on with this watch. I'll try to cover most of it as of now. I set the watch yesterday. Not too concerned about how it was regulated. That is something that I can hopefully sort out in short order if the watch is running correctly. I rolled the date wheel around with no issues. One always wonders if you have the right 12 hour when doing so. Couple of ways I can be sure of that but didn't bother yesterday. Thought I would this morning if needed. But I did notice at midnight the date wheel partially turned and as of this morning it still had not flipped to the correct date So I did it myself. Not sure if that is going to be an on going problem or not. Only time will tell. But IMO that does not bode well for this particular movement. Hopefully this is not a common occurrence.

I have not had that happen to me on any dated watch, so I ran the watch manually though a half dozen dates and then reset the date properly. Every date snapped over perfectly right at midnight when doing to. A guess as to the problem? A new movement with a sticky date wheel. Hopefully not a problem I will ever see again as I continue to regulate the watch to my satisfaction over the next few days.

The up side? As mentioned in the WDs description the bezel insert is ceramic. It shouldn't scratch. But will be more brittle than aluminum, which of course does scratch. The indexes and numbers are all engraved on the insert. Classy touches all around there! I like it.

Bezel movement is solid. Even a little tight (which is awesome!) and perfect alignment @ 120 clicks. WDs has doen these before. The 1969 Pros are a good example of a bezel done right. The 5512B is how a bezel should be done!

The cyclops? I used to not like a cyclops on my Rolexes and would have the Rolex Service Centers I used, chip them off. No big deal to do so. These days I like the ease of reading the date and kinda like the look of a cyclops. That said I know many don't. So reasy enough to remove them. They are just glued on. A hair drier will help you remove them if that is your preference.

https://preview.redd.it/g1q9jbi6p33h1.jpg?width=1780&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cab493dffcbf315bfe3d08c907c7ef93d2c41d39

A Rolex triple lock stem from WDs? Not sure..but this one is NOT the normal Chinese dive watch stem either. It will take some more investigating there.

This is very cool addition! A \"new\" WDs crown?

You can make out the engraved ceramic bezel in this photo if only barely.

Lume? BGW9 and it is very good. It is bright, it lasts through the nights very easily this time of year in Idaho. And WDs used plenty of lume to cover everything as required. Legibility? The Mercedes hands are just a tiny bit wider than the originals. Which you can make out in the photo below with a little effort. Which makes the WDS easier to read, day or night.

https://preview.redd.it/btgg2gqqq33h1.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c7cbaf03cd556762d65bf80728c5ff874d5f8cfd

She is a beast! When I first pulled the slick little watch case out of the box from China, I seriously wondered what watch they has shipped me!

The 5512B watch and bracelet weigh in at a stout 153g. A Rolex 16610 from 2002 weighs 132g. The 5512B on a Marathon single pass nylon strap is 82g. The newest, titanium, Tudor Pelagos, Ultra, on a single pass nylon strap weighs in at 86g. The 5512B wears easier on my wrist.

The bracelet? Yes, the clasp is better. But it is also clearly a last-minute add-on to a bracelet that has pins instead of screw used on the links. Not much more to say there.

Case and bezel finishing? Simply stellar. My one criticism, and it is really minor to me, but won't be for some, is the shoulder ends were left way too sharp and need some rounding. They were sharp enough without the bracelet to draw blood. Simple, 2-minute job to round them at home, if you have the right tools, but better done at the factory.

Overall? If I can a get this one regulated to my satisfaction and the date wheel doesn't become an ongoing problem this is a watch I really like...on a nylon strap.

How to make it better IMO? Personal preferences here so take them for what they are worth. Build this same watch in the slightly smaller 38mm case and then add fully drill the lugs. For heaven's sake, ditch the pinned bracelet links! A lot of us have asked for a simple, monochrome, Submariner homage. I like this one a lot, or I wouldn't wear it. I don't care about the bracelet issues (and they may not be issues to anyone else). The watch wears easily on a soft strap even though it is heavy. The big wide case is the reason for that on my 8" wrist.

I like the ceramic bezel. It and the watch over all is just "flashy" enough for my taste. But not overly done or screaming "ROLEX". I really like the dial's clarity, visibility and lume. If it will do, keeping accurate time, the 5512B it is for sure a keeper and worth the buy in price and more to me.

From the first run on the timegrapher after demagnetizing and proper regulation.

Another photo below with the watch is a different position.

Seagull ST2130 Automatic results? Your impressions?

I have been pretty happy with the results I have gotten from several watches using the PT 5000 movements. I am curious if anyone is using a Seagull ST2130 Automatic and their impressions. Thanks. I'll know more myself once one arrives. TIA

5513v3 PT5000 comments? RE: WD5513P PT5000 Vintage Sub

a current 5513 v3 Pt5000

Seems like there are 4 different versions of the WD 5513s at the moment. These comments are about the "P" version using the PT500 movement. There are two "versions" with multiple watches listed, that differ in cosmetics using the PT5000, as well as a VH31 quartz version, 5513q, and a Miyota version, 5513m.

My comments are about 5513P, "Vintage Black/Benz Hands/C3 Lume."

Love it or hate it the PT5000 is a clone of the ETA2824 movement. In turn a good enough movement by Rolex's and Tudor's standards to put them in their watches in the recent past.

I have them in other watches, all Chinee homages and they work just as well as the ETA 2824 in a early 2 line Tudor Pelagos. From personal experience having more than a few running currently well within COSC chronometer standards (-4 to +6 spd) I've come to really appreciate the PT5000 movement.

The cosmetics on this one knock it out of the park IMO for a fake patina, vintage watch. I would own the red dated M version as well if it were made with the more accurate PT5000.

My opinion? Outstanding watch! Great cosmetics and a stellar build for QC and metal finish. I would guess these homages are generally bought just for the appearance. I buy them as a exceptionally good watch.

What I did not say there is "good watch for the money". My every day wear is either a Tudor or Rolex dive watch. What I wrote above I stand by as a comparison of, "an exceptionally good watch".

the finish is exceptional, which my poor photo skills do not do justice

A caution? If you like a watch model being offered today by WDs, buy it! There is no guarantee it will ever be available again.

The numbers on the 5513v3- P, make it a Goldilocks watch for me.

Bezel 40.7mm in diameter
Lug to lug: 48 mm (lug to lug)
Case thickness including glass: Domed Sapphire 12.4mm
Lug width: 20mm

I've had my difference with WD in the recent past, thinking they were going backward not forward. The last three 5513s (two Qs, which are not perfect but close, and now an A) I have bought clearly show I was mistaken. We are lucky to live in such great "watch times". A "well done" to WDs is very much deserved. Thank you.

This printed black dial, with the handset looks to be guilted gold in color with a grey bezel. I find the combo very attractive. A 5513q version is offered in this colorway as well.

Edit #1: As the week goes along, I'll add to my observation on this watch. 8 hrs into wearing this one now and it is holding right at atomic time......to the second. No plus or minus, once I set the watch this morning. That is unusual in the PT5000 if my 9 watches (now 10) using this movement is any representation. I'll know a whole lot more about this watch 24 and 48 hours from now and will report those finding as well. Once regulated all of my PT5000 movements have kept very good time for me, all the while in some tough environments. Easily with-in COSC chrono standards. My two-line Pelago isn't this accurate. And I expect the WDs 5513 to falter at some point soon (within a week typically) and need to be properly regulated.

One of the reasons I like the ETA2824 is itis very easy to regulate even for a novice if you have the tools to get the back of the case off and have the patience to regulate the watch over a few days or batter yet a week or so. I find it part of the fun with these inexpensive watches. No timegrapher needed.

C3? Great while lasts ;-(

Edit #2. The C3 lume is brillian while it lasts. Which is generally less than 5 minutes after being charged. I really dislike the use of C3. Might as well not have lume if it can't be seen a few minutes later or in the middle of the night. I have to think C3 is simply a cost cutting corner because it is basically worthless by comparison to a good dose of BGW9.

But lume doesn;t make the watch. The movement does when you get down to the basics. Does the watch accurately tell time? This on does. I ma 24 hrs in on ths watch. Enough time to tell me how the watch is running. Is it slow (unacceptable) or a bit fast, which is very acceptable as long as it is under 5spd+. 2 or 3spd+ would be even better!

I am here to tell from experience. Any mechanical watch, be it Rolex, Tudor or from Watchdives, it is simply luck of the draw where your watch will fall for accuracy or regulation. This 5513 P? After 25 hrs. this one is gnat's ass on to atomic time currently. And that my friends is pretty amazing! It helps that the 5513P is also a beautiful watch 8-)

An outstanding homage of an early Submariner by Rolex and Tudor.

A few days ago, I ordered another watch. One of a couple of dozen watches I have bought directly from WDs over the past year. I have not had a shipping problem with any order. And only a small issue with one watch, which WDs solved to my satisfaction very quickly. But shipping has, often as not taken 2 full weeks, or on a rare occasion, a day or two more.

This watch? China to Idaho? 6 days total, from ordering online, to watch in hand, including a full 2 day weekend.

That deserves a "well done" to all involved! Thank you 8-)

(a lovely watch by the way ;-)
