I still have anger over my old name

I’m a 22 year old male and I used to be called Peter but most people called me Pete
It is ridiculously old fashioned and I’ve hated it for as long as I can remember. I hated “Pete” but I defeated “Peter”. I hated introducing myself and I honestly felt so embarrassed every time I did it.
People often used to ask me if I’m names after a relative and tbh no one took me seriously cos of my name. I went on the internet and a lot of people have said that Peter is a terrible name.
I changed it legally to something else 6 months ago and I’m still In the adaptation stage of my name and honestly It will be a stain on my life forever.
I honestly have so much anger st my parents for giving me this name especially my mum. Her reasoning for naming me this is actually so offensive and insulting to me that I have thought about not talking to her ever again.
