My Cro's Baby

Caught him sitting on a fence, his parents weren't nearby to scream at me for getting close, so i got a few photos. I wish i had a DSLR with a zoom lens.

Yummy egg

Decided to treat the good bro to some egg, was a bit worried his crow neophobia would have him reject it because the plastic container is NEW AND SCARY, but he didnt need any convincing other than some peanuts in front of it to get him close enough to smell the food within.

Then the mallard ate the rest of the egg and knocked the container to the ground

This is the bravest of the crows I've been feeding, so i can get some nice close-ups of him or her. Beautiful!

Been making friends with the local corvid population for just about a year exactly now, mostly jackdaws. A few of them now frequently sit next to me on the bench, and I've really started trying to hand-feed. While they don't really seem to be afraid of my hand, they do seem a bit apprehensive. However, today there was a breakthrough, I was tempting a jackdaw with a big fat cashew, oh he wanted it so, but didn't dare to take it. He was just pacing about and jumping up and down from the bench nervously. Eventually i decided to just give it to him and placed it down on the bench, but before I had let go of it, he snatched away the big cashew. That counts as hand-feeding, right? I am so happy.

I usually feed the crows by the waterfront, but i kinda noticed a pattern, whenever the ducks are sitting by my feet, the crows get a bit closer too. I wonder if the crows think that they are safer because it would be easier for me to catch a plump duck if i turned out to actually be evil despite feeding them for over a year.
