Front panel USB port has power but no data after accidental USB short — any way to fix it?

Hi everyone,

I accidentally plugged a USB connection into my PC that was already receiving power, and since then one of my front-panel USB ports has stopped transferring data.

The weird thing is that the port still provides power:

My phone charges normally.
My keyboard lights up when connected.
However, Windows doesn’t detect the keyboard.
USB flash drives also receive power but aren’t recognized/read.

I tested everything I could think of. The most useful test was moving the internal front-panel USB connector to another USB header on the motherboard. When I do that, the front-panel port works perfectly again.
So it seems the original USB header/port on the motherboard has power but no data, rather than the front-panel cable or the case USB port being defective.

I’ve already tried:

Clear CMOS
Full power Cycle
Testing different USB devices

The alternative USB header works perfectly, so I’m pretty sure the problem is isolated to that specific motherboard USB header.

Is there any way to repair/re-enable the data lines on that USB header, or is it likely permanently damaged?

Motherboard: MSI B850 Gaming Plus WiFi
