Advice on building a Powertool battery from a kit?

Advice on building a Powertool battery from a kit?

Hello. I recently got ahold of a couple of li ion cells and wanted to make a powertool battery for DeWalt from a kit I bought of aliexpress.

It comes with nice precut strips for spotwelding. I measured them and they are about 0.15mm for the connecting ones and 0.2 mm for the ones on the main + and - terminals.

What I am worried about is that they are listed as "nickel strips" I don't know if they are supposed to be pure nickel or nickel plated steel. I am not certain if they are sufficient for the connection.
Is there any non destructive way I can test that? If they are pure nickel.
I have a spotwelder that can do 0.1mm pure copper 0.1mm pure nickel sandwitch spotweld very reliably. Would it be worth trying to spotweld 0,1mm copper underneath the "nickel strip"?
If my spotwelder couldn't handle 0.2 mm nickel + 0.1 pure copper for main connections woul d it make sense to solder some braided copper onto the strip like the one used for solder wick?

DeWalt cordless line trimmer destroyed my DCB184 20v 5ah battery. What could be the reason?

Hello there I have a question if any of you can help.
My uncle recently purchased a DeWalt cordless line trimmer. He used a 20v 5ah battery to do some mowing.

According to him the battery lasted around 10 min and got pretty warm. Afterwards the charger wouldn't accept the battery.
I measured the voltage on the battery and it was around 6V.

I thought most of the cells were dead, but then I measured individual cell pairs and found out they were around 3.2V which is good. However one pair was different It measured 7V! and with polarity reversed no less.

How is this possible? Cells are supposed to go to around 4.2V max and it is even reverse polarity.
Can anyone explain why this happened? Could it be the cordless line trimmer has a fault? Could it be the charger? I just want to know so it doesn't happen again.
