T.R. EDWARDS "REMEMBERS" ROY FOKKER...

A while ago I posted an eulogy that Rick Hunter did for Roy Fokker...from the SMG Roleplaying Game book.

In one of the Novels....someone else had a remembrance for him too....but the complete opposite!

*****

Then again, Hunter had ties to Roy Fokker, and Edwards's only regret about not having been aboard the SDF-1 was that he hadn't been around to see Fokker crash and burn. He remembered hearing about it, but no glasses had been raised to Fokker's memory. Their rivalry during the Global Civil War lacked the mutual respect rival World War I dogfighters had for their opponents. Plain and simple, Edwards and Fokker had loathed one another. And he loathed Fokker all the more for dying prematurely.

ROBOTECH NOVEL - ZENTRAEDI REBLLION

*****

Tell us who you REALLY feel T.R.!!!!

However....Mano y Mano......Fokker all the way in ANY arena.

Edwards for me is more of a talker when it comes to intimidation.

Then again...who knows what he did under the tutelage of Senator Russo.

Then somehow....he makes it up the ranks by the time the Tirol mission is ready to go. So the talking DOES help I guess.

He's scum.

Good work "Jack" on evoking such emotions! 👍😁

ONE OF ROBOTECH'S TRAGIC HEROES...

...would be returning home...and then coming back?

*****

Wolff continued to regard the ship from the SDF-3's observation blister without much thought to Lang's reassurances, or what may or may not lay at mission's end. To him the ship, this sleek and substantially scaled-down version of the Super Dimensional Fortress, was simply a way out. There had been flashes of renewed faith these past few weeks, moments when he saw himself as reborn-on Haydon IV, for instance, or at seeing the look on T. R. Edwards's face when his treachery was revealed to the council-but all that had been emptied from him on the bridge of the Valivarre. Minmei's words still rang in his ears like a curse; her marriage to Edwards, that sick and sinister ceremony, replaying itself in dreams and every other waking thought. I've found happiness at last, she had shrieked from that black altar. Go back to the family you deserted...make amends with them!

As if it were possible.

He had convinced himself that it wasn't Minmei who was sending him away-not any flesh and blood Minmei at least. He had succeeded in depersonalizing her, divesting her of the power to inflict such grief. She was a symbol of the world gone wrong and Jonathan Wolff's false steps through it; a symbol of hope's turn toward evil. A symbol of transformed love, of broken promise. A world once turned on her voice, and now that voice raged against what it had redeemed.

"The ship's databanks contain a complete record of the mission," Lang was saying, "along with updated material covering the recent events on Tirol."

Wolff abandoned his dark musings and registered surprise.

"Longchamps and Stinson, the others who backed Edwards, are holding their ground. But we've won the battle, as it goes."

"Edwards is halfway to Optera, and they're still not convinced," Wolff seethed. "They're hedging their bets. They figure he'll be coming back here with whatever's left of the Invid fleet."

"Possibly that," Lang was willing to concede. "But I think it has more to do with Earth than Tirol. We can't be certain but there's some chance that the Southern Cross apparat has gained the upper hand. That would place Edwards' in a strong position there, despite what has transpired here."

Lang was downplaying things considerably, Wolff realized. Some chance meant sure thing, no matter how Lang chose to deliver it. An awareness of the Shapings-Protoculture had left him that talent when it drained the hazel from his eyes.

"Field Marshall Leonard. Zand, Moran..."

Lang nodded. "Exactly. Longchamps wants them to know where the lines were drawn."

Wolff muttered a curse. "So we could end up dealing with Edwards all over again. On Earth this time."

"Which is why I want you to hand-deliver a special report to Major Rolf Emerson."

Wolff's pencil-thin eyebrows arched. "Emerson?"

"He's the only member of the General Staff we can trust. We don't know what Edwards's next move will be. Perhaps he'll attempt to convince the Regent to move against Earth. It's clear now that the two of them have been in collusion for some time-at least as far back as the assassination of the Invid's simulagent. If Carpenter's ship made it back safely the tale of our schism has already been told. But who knows how strong Leonard has become in the interim, how he might respond to reports of indecision among the Council members..."

"Earth would welcome Edwards with open arms."

"Edwards and the Regent. He could conquer the planet without loosing a beam."

Wolff glanced at the ship, then uttered a short laugh as he swung around to Lang. "The goddamn frying pan to the fire..."

"Not if we can hold Edwards here," Lang told him. "The Zentraedi have volunteered to spearhead an invasion."

Wolff was aghast. "Against Optera?"

"Breetai's forces are our only hope. Hunter and the Sentinels have only just left Spheris, and their destination is Peryton, not Optera."

"That's lunacy! Show Hunter the transvids of Minmei's wedding if you want to light a fire under him. He'll say to hell with Peryton."

Lang made a calming gesture with his hands. "I think you're mistaken, Colonel. But we're trying just that in any event. The Tokugawa under General Grant's command will launch for Haydon IV shortly after your departure. There he'll rendezvous with a Karbarran force and proceed to Peryton."

Wolff felt a wave of anticipation wash through him. What chance could his one lone ship have against a combined enemy force in Earthspace? But to have a chance to stop Edwards from leaving the Quadrant, to go to guns with him on Optera, put a personal end to his evil reign-

"So you understand just how critical your mission is," Lang said, as though reading his mind. "It is imperative that the Defense Force on Earth be fully appraised of the situation-even if the result is further factionalism. I trust you follow me, Colonel."

Wolff bit back a half-formed argument on the merits of his remaining on Tirol and nodded, tight-lipped and near pellbound in Lang's gaze.

The starship was fully visible now, gleaming in the light of Fantoma's primary, an arrow in the unseen wind.

"There's one more thing, Wolff," Lang said after a moment. "Your ship has the capacity for a roundtrip."

"In case I change my mind."

Lang folded his arms. "If you should fail to make contact with us, we want you to return. We must be informed of the situation."

"That's a hell of thing to ask, Lang. Especially when nobody was figuring on the Expeditionary mission ending up a one-way ticket."

Lang seemed to consider it, then said: "It's not a request, Colonel. It's an order."

ROBOTECH NOVEL - THE SENTINELS: RUBICON

*****

Well....the ship did return some years later...and if you know your Robotech story...NOT with its original commander though.

Destiny had other plans for him.

With everything he went through during the Sentinels...I'm pretty sure Wolff had NO plans to return to Tirol.

GUNSHIP BATTLE WARFARE - ROBOTECH VERSION

...is now available for iPhone, Android and PC (Steam).

However...if I am reading this right...it is only for a limited run. (08/25/2026)....if i am reading it wrong, please let me know.

All I can do is sigh...

Took a bunch of screenshots and played for a few minutes. I downloaded Gunship battle from Steam for PC. It looks like it's already Robotech set. Don't quote me though. I clicked on a bunch of messages that were Robotech related. SO if you download it...you'll have to figure it out.

Premise is SDF-1 in their spacefold goes to the GSB universe instead of Pluto and gets assistance from the good guys.

It looks like one of the bad guys joins Breetai who winds up in that Universe too.

Gameplay (if you have played this before) is like the original just ROBOTECH-IZED. In game purchases to upgrade and all the rest.

Some of the graphics are fine. They give the characters a non original animated look.....gameplay looks to be repetitive. I played just a few beginner level missions.

Verdict: Not a franchise needle mover in my opinion.

Plus....A LIMITED RUN????????

If you wind up playing it, please leave your reviews in the comments.

IS THIS THE BEGINNING OF THE END?

Was watching Don Flurgundy stream and he said the neckbearded incel's site is gone.

What's next? If it is gone what happens to those he's charging monthly.

HALLOWED GROUND...

...in the Robotech Novels Saga.

*****

"The Macross Overlook occupied an acre of high ground that was the terminus of the sole road leading north-northeast from Monument City. Occupying the centerpoint of a waist-high stone wall that fenced the eastern perimeter of the gravel viewing area was an inscribed plaque that read:

"Here lie the Super Dimensional Fortresses 1 and 2, along with the battle cruiser that destroyed them, and the remains of the once grand city that grew up around them—Macross, thrice-born, never forgotten."

RN - Masters Gambit

*****

I'm sure that many of the survivors from that final battle made a pilgrimage to that spot where the plaque was at some point.

I do wonder what happened to the site after the Master's flagship crashed on the mounds (and the Protoculture Matrix) releasing the Flowers of Life....did the the Regis focus on it when she made landfall.....or was it just an empty vessel by that time.

I'd like to think when the Robotech Wars were over...the area was given its proper memorial.

LOOKING FOR THE TITLE THAT MAY HAVE BEEN A SCHOLASTIC PAPERBACK BOOK FROM EARLY 80s.

All I remember is the cover....

  • The Background Poster: The backdrop features a massive theater wall poster advertising a play or event. It prominently displays the sinister, muscle-bound executioner/pirate figure wearing a dark hood mask, grinning down maliciously with sinister twinkle in his eyes.
  • The Defiant Boy: The main character, a young boy, stands right underneath the poster. Trying to prove he isn't scared, he mimics the pirate's exact pose—crossing his arms tightly and glaring back defiantly.
  • The Laughing Teens: In the foreground, his older teenage peers (a boy and a girl) are looking back at him and laughing at his overly dramatic, tough-guy stance.

THE JOLLY ROGERS!

From our friends at Robotech RPG from Strange Machine Games !

Iconic...unforgettable...mighty in sight and deed!!!

This is....SKULL ONE!

*****

The History of Skull One

Skull One, or VF 001, is one of the most colorful and famous examples of the VF-1 Valkyrie. At its inception, it was the YF-1 prototype of the VF-X series. Commander Roy Fokker assisted in development, and the protoculture aboard the plane seemed to fixate on him. Fokker worked on the development of the first prototype, both as an engineer and test pilot.

Fokker flew as part of VF-103, the Jolly Rogers, during the Global War, and insisted that his lucky livery be applied. Knowing the first Veritech fighter from nose to foot as it were, and assisting in the design and testing, made Fokker familiar with the VF-1 as it entered production.

As early VF production was slow in the beginning, after Fokker passed flight trials with the VF-X, the UEDF made a move to take existing prototypes and advance them to the production standard. Several test pilots crashed their powerful Veritechs during trials, but Fokker brought his plane home, VF-X No. 001, time after time.

When the production standards were met, Fokker insisted on being assigned No. 001. As the UEDF’s top ace, he was given latitude on the fighter. Fokker saw it brought to the CAG Standard, the VF-1S, with a head unit and four lasers, plus better data management than the VF-1A.

Upon Fokker’s death, Captain Gloval insisted upon assigning the mecha to Fokker’s subordinate and friend, Lieutenant Rick Hunter. Gloval offered it as a sentimental gesture. Hunter found his mentor’s modification and controls to be well suited to his own training, having learned basic flight—from a biplane to a fighter—from his mentor.

Rick, notorious for losing planes while flying the VF-1J, always managed to bring this jet home, even after Dolza’s Rain of Death.

ROBOTECH RPG - THE MACROSS SAGA

*****

While not the actual Veritech....the name of Skull One and its Squadron of Jolly Rogers would continue its legacy into the Sentinels.

And perhaps even after End of the Circle...🤔

The Robotech Story is....ETERNAL!

And it's all canon. 😁

Also, check out the first trailer for our upcoming original fan audio drama....DEEP SIGNAL ONE: A ROBOTECH STORY....YouTube link in the comments.👇

NOT JUST AN RPG...

The random moments that Strange Machine Games 's Robotech RPG gives us in lore.... only make me want this journey they are taking Robotech on to last for many years to come!

*****

Lonely Soldier Boy

"You know, I really thought that this would put an end to the nightmares. The feeling that I should have gone down with the rest of the squad. But then what would I know, I'm a typical foot slogger you know?

When they told me about this mission, these Cyclones and what they could do, I figured I finally had the chance to pay the bastard bugs back for the mates I lost; more weapons, heavier armor and the training to use the damn thing against the Invid.

It worked, it really did work, everything I needed to beat the tar out of Invid troops, missiles, rifles, pistols, anything and everything I could carry that allowed me to kill these things dead. I need to kill so many of them dead. I need to kill all of them dead.

If you ask me, a full troop in these things will break any Invid detachment you can name. You give it some fixed weapons, maybe a launcher or two... Perhaps a mounted laser cannon of some kind and you'd have something that would put the fear into those unfeeling slug bastards.

I tell you something though it's a shame my mates never made it here with me, they'd have had the time of their lives.

But it's just me now. Me and my ride. And it's a long road to Reflex Point"

Personal journal of Sgt Harriman Kreig

1st Cyclone Infantry Company, 21st Mars Division

ROBOTECH RPG - HOMEFRONT

*****

We need stories of other REF soldiers making the trek to Reflex Point. I have never believed that it was only Scott Bernard that survived the doomed initial attack.

More stories can only lead to...MORE ROBOTECH.

Before you go... if you haven't had a chance yet, check out the first trailer for our original fan audio drama, DEEP SIGNAL ONE: A ROBOTECH STORY, debuting this fall. YouTube link in the comments.
