How to cope when you know it's coming
I got news yesterday that my girl has bone cancer. It happened so fast. Not that long ago she was running around and playing like normal, until she wasn't. The docs thought it was just a sprain at first. She's 12, not a spring chicken, but has always been a model of health.
We're still waiting on test results to confirm the exact type, but the damage is bad. Any treatment will require amputation of a limb and chemo to maybe buy a year at most. I feel like she's been handed a death sentence, and that my time with her is limited no matter if we try to treat it or not. To say I'm gutted is putting it lightly. It's so horrible because she did nothing to deserve this. All we can do is wait on the results and keep her comfortable. The test results will help determine what to do next but it feels like every option is a dead end.
