Prince Harry and Meghan Markle advised to ‘disappear professionally’ after latest business fail to salvage reputation

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle advised to ‘disappear professionally’ after latest business fail to salvage reputation

Via Page Six:

Everything Prince Harry and Meghan Markle touches doesn’t turn to gold.

After their “Cookie Queens” documentary — which marked their theatrical feature debut as executive producers — crumbled at the box office, they’re now being advised to halt their business ventures.

According to royal commentator Kinsey Schofield, host of YouTube’s “Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered,” the two have plenty of name recognition, but haven’t found a way to turn that into revenue from loyal consumers.

“I would tell them to disappear professionally for a little while, dramatically reduce the number of announcements, and identify one genuinely compelling project with experienced people around them who know how to execute it,” Schofield exclusively tells Page Six.

“Reputation recovery is possible, but I don’t think it comes from another rebrand or another glossy publicity campaign,” she also says. “I would recommend the opposite. Less talking, fewer announcements and more execution.”

“Success is one of the most effective reputation-management strategies in Hollywood. Make something undeniable and suddenly the conversation changes.”

Markle in particular has tried her hand at multiple business ventures, including podcasting, her Netflix cooking show, “With Love, Meghan,” and launching her As Ever brand.

The Spotify podcasting deal ended in 2023 — which made the Duke and Duchess of Sussex a whopping $20 million — after only one season of her show, “Archetypes.” Netflix also ended their partnership with her in March.

Schofield comments, “When you try to establish authority in every category simultaneously, you can end up establishing authority in none of them. Pick a lane, become good at it and allow success to rebuild credibility.”

“They need to stop treating their celebrity as the product and start creating products strong enough to survive without their celebrity.”

Schofield advises that the couple “get out of the way” and not try to make decision when it comes to projects they’re involved in while, instead, letting the pros handle it. She also notes that they need to find projects which have nothing to do with their grievances with the royal family.

“There are only so many times you can tell audiences why you left the royal family,” she explains. “If they want longevity in entertainment, they have to prove people are interested in their taste, ideas and storytelling when the monarchy isn’t the hook.”

“I also don’t think it’s a coincidence that we’re seeing renewed efforts toward reconciliation with King Charles at a moment when Harry and Meghan need to rebuild their credibility,” she adds. “I suspect that they understand that their fractured relationship with the royal family has become a professional liability.”

“Cookie Queens” — which follows four young Girl Scouts during the height of the intense cookie-selling season — was released on Aug. 7 in select theaters and made just $735 per screen, opening at No. 15, according to Boxoffice Pro.

It’s since grossed a total of $513,148 domestically, reports The Numbers.

But Markle, 45, and Harry, 41, aren’t letting their disappointing box office showing get them down. They stepped out for a date night at a gala celebrating the 40th anniversary of David Foster’s foundation earlier this month in Canada.

Markle honored her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, by wearing the iconic royal’s diamond and sapphire earrings during the glam red carpet appearance.

L&O Lines You Use In Real Life

Thinking of this as I'm watching 'Narcosis' because it features a Lennie one-liner I use regularly at work:

'Hold on to your popcorn.'

Any go-tos from the show that have made their way into your daily life? Or am I the only weird one? :)

Buckingham Palace says Prince Harry will not stay at palace

(BBC, Updated 18 Minutes Ago)

Buckingham Palace says Prince Harry will not be staying at the palace for part of his visit to London this week despite his team announcing this morning that he had accepted an invitation to do so.

Royal sources say the duke had not formally responded to the offer of accommodation at a Royal residence by the deadline, which was the end of last week, and was told over the weekend that he could no longer stay at Buckingham Palace.

It is understood that the palace requires a minimum notice period to ensure a guest can be hosted and staff from the Royal Household provided.

A spokesperson for Prince Harry said that despite their earlier statement - they understood that the offer to stay at the palace had now been "withdrawn" - a decision they described as disappointing.

Prince Harry is travelling to the UK to promote the Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham next year, and charity events.

It is understood that he will not be accompanied by his wife Meghan and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, when he visits London, after it was confirmed that the family would not be provided with taxpayer-funded police security.

But it is possible that they may join Prince Harry in Birmingham to promote the Invictus Games later in the week.

It is unclear whether a meeting between King Charles and his two grandchildren, aged seven and five - who he has not seen in person for four years - will take place under the revised schedule.

During his visit to Birmingham, Prince Harry is expected to visit the city's children's hospital and Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre, which will be hosting the Invictus Games - held for injured military personnel.

There had been reports that the later part of the trip would also include a visit to Althorp in Northampton, the family estate of Prince Harry's mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. It is understood there were plans for him to take his wife and children to his mother's private grave.

The Duke of Sussex's long-running dispute with the UK government over security stretches back to his decision to step back from his role as a senior royal in 2020 and move to the US with his family.

He has contested a decision by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee's Risk Management Board that because he was going to be an infrequent visitor to the UK, his security would be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

He has previously said he would not bring his family to the country without improved security arrangements, telling the BBC in 2025 that he could not "see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point".

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were last together in the UK in 2022, at the time of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

He has since travelled to the country alone, and met his father on a trip last September.

RIP James Handy From 'Thrill'

James Handy is known to us L&O-ers as Mr. Wheeler (the murder victim's father) in 'Thrill.' He also is credited with work on two Law & Order video games. He was murdered yesterday. From Variety:

James Handy, a longtime actor who appeared as the bartender in “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Jumanji” and had guest roles on dozen of TV shows, was killed Wednesday in a stabbing in the Tarzana neighborhood of Los Angeles. He was 81. The LAPD said he was killed by his girlfriend’s son.

“On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, around 9:30 a.m., West Valley area patrol officers responded to a radio call of unknown trouble in the 19200 block of Erwin Street. The 911 caller stated, ‘I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.’ Upon their arrival, officers discovered 81-year-old James Handy in the front yard of the residence, unconscious and suffering from a stab wound to his chest. The victim was transported to local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics, where he was pronounced deceased. The suspect flagged down nearby responding officers, telling them he was the one they were looking for. The suspect resides at the location with his mother, who is the victim’s girlfriend,” the police statement read.

“Detectives believe this is an isolated incident and there appears to be no danger to the public at this time,” the police statement said.

The suspect, 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, was arrested and booked at Van Nuys Jail for one count of murder with $2 million in bail.

In addition to his role in 2022’s “Top Gun: Maverick,” Handy appeared in “Logan” in 2017 as the doctor who treated Hugh Jackman. In 1995’s “Jumanji,” Handy played the exterminator, while in “Arachnophobia,” he played Milton Briggs. His other film appearances included “The Rocketeer,” “Brighton Beach Memoirs,” “The Verdict” and “K-9.”
