You may kiss the bride!

I officiated a summer wedding!

Sidenote: We didn't get a summer skin unfortunately. But this skin, especially with this chroma, makes a great beach dress!

There's a part of me that wonders if these changes contributed to Wanda's current position in the meta more than we think

So I've been thinking, obviously the infamous Phase Nerfs of Season 2 (TM) are infamous for a reason, but I wonder if they, along with the change that allowed her to be healed when Phased, led to the current state of Wanda more than we think.

One thing I think should be made clear, Anti-Dive is only part of Wanda's niche. Flanking/diving has always been integral to her play style to maximize her kit, especially in more competitive lobbies (not necessarily higher elos). Her niche is constant, inescapable pressure. Thats why her beam is the way it is, that's why she has a burst with infinite range and no falloff, that's why she has a stun than can prevent counterplay and keep you (literally) under her influence for longer, and that's why she has a phase that not only can she use to chase you down, but also get out quickly and use the fact that she survived an encounter and wasted your resources and time to her advantage. On top of this, her not having a traditional ammo system is her strength. She can destroy summons, shields, etc. and she only benefits from it since she doesn't need to use ammo and in fact replenishes it. Wanda's role is putting insane amounts of pressure on 1-2 targets at a time and getting away with it. She's meant to be aggressive and mobile, not sitting behind her tanks all the time.

In fact, damaging enemy tanks is often something you want to avoid unless the enemy tank is the one running a lobby in a given moment (i.e. you use target priority skills and that's who you land on). Her constant pressure is not enough to justify pumping damage into the tanks so often. Her damage is better suited for squishy targets/healers. Attacking tanks feeds enemy support ultimates and doesn't do enough damage to justify it. The reason I bring this up is because keeping her as just Anti-Dive (i.e. something the phase nerfs essentially promoted) makes her by nature of where she has to stand attacking tanks a necessity.

While you can still absolutely play her aggressively, I wonder if she could feel a lot better when doing so if she had the old phase. Aggressive tactics only go so far and the more competitive your lobbies get the less you can be diving right now. I wonder if the reason it feels strangely poorer than it should to play Wanda right now is because we can't use our mobility as well, and the result is playing in a spot that actively works against us.

Just some food for thought and discussion. Thanks for reading.

Hot Take: This Team-Up will not save us long-term

I love this team-up but I keep seeing people ask for it to just be added to our base kit. As good as it is, I feel that decision will be disastrous long term.

I hate to say it, but the team-up is essentially just "you can spam...but better!"

This is not a good philosophy to follow for Wanda. If we want to raise her ceiling a bit and give her room to breathe, the answer is to add more skill full abilities. They don't necessarily need to be you-need-to-aim/skill shots, but at least more utility that justifies Wanda's place in the Meta that often overpowers her if not leaves her out completely.

We deserve better than the bare minimum for this character!

So will this be able to get us through our phase?

I thought it would be like MK but doesn't MK's primary still target us when it's bouncing?
