For the past weeks in my raid team, we've had discussions about how the groups should be and i'm tired of people's personnal wishes. I want external opinions on how to rearrange if need be the groups to optimize dps. Also if you think that we're missing some specs or have too many of some, let me know. I just want this neverending discussion to end.
Buckle in, we are in for a long one.
This week exceptionnaly I wasn’t able to join my guild’s raid due to IRL stuff. As a good boi, I still try to find a group to do the raids when im able to. Getting a chance at loot, fun time and experience. So I log on one day and see a guild run that needs a holy paladin that is looking for TK , 2 SR. Being well geared (1750+) and parses looking at an average 90+, they pick me up.
I choose my 2 SR when the link is sent. I join the discord and ask people to tell me which buff they want between wisdom and might. I let the other 2 paladins with salv and kings. We get going in a short period of time, everyone seems to know what’s coming and it looked like a guild with a high potential.
We down the first 3 bosses in 1 pull each. Well coordinated, everyone is flasked and everything, it is perfect. We get to the last boss , in a few pulls we get it down. None of my SR dropped, I thank them and wave goodbye.
The next day they are doing SSC and my schedule aligns with that as well, I reach out to them and we agree to work together the next day. Same hour , same loot system. They send the sheet , I put my SR in, join the discord and we get going.
First boss goes down, the bracers I SR drops, I only see my name in pink, hell yeah they are mine, I’m happy.
It was only for a few seconds though.
Up to that moment I never looked at the SR sheet and the previous bosses loot since nothing was even good for a off spec. They say the shaman healer also has it. I open up the sheet to realize there’s only 5 names on the sheet. What’s going on ? Do the guildies have a seperate sheet so that the pugs cant see or compete for certain pieces ? I have no idea what’s going on.
We roll and obviously I lose the roll. I still don’t understand how I was supposed to know that the shaman had a shot as well. I reach out to him and I was confused even after I shared my thoughts. I asked did you SR them ? Where is the sheet and when did you select it ? He tells me well, I have put it in my TMB before the phase began, 3 weeks ago.
TMB is a loot council tool that helps prioritize certain loot to players to have the best output out of those items. What has that to do with the bracers?
Because he chose these in the wishlist, they assumed that it was like an SR. So every, single slot, of all the members of the guild, essentially had an SR on them. Meaning if I had an SR on an item, that was also BIS for anyone else , I had to fight against all of them.
Not only that, but all the other items that I didn’t SR was also, sort of, hard reserved to them. Since they would all have the BIS item for every class in the game in their wishlist, I couldn’t see what was reserved and couldn’t do anything about it.
Later on boots for healer was basically HR, the ring from Vashj, chest piece token as well. I couldn’t main spec roll anything since they had everything in their wishlist. I felt robbed and there’s nothing I could do about it.
I reached out to them after the raid explaining my concerns and I don’t want them to have trouble about it. So no don’t expect me to leak names or anything. I keep it on the low and take it as a lesson and a warning to you all. Double Check and ask questions asap. I didn’t want drama and I could have left midway into it and they wouldn’t have been able to finish the raid. But maybe one day we will need each other and after all, we are all gamers who enjoy the same game. I doubt they did it on purpose, I’ll never know, but maybe its gonna open some peoples point of view.
So after all, I didn’t get anything , spent around 200g in consumes and 7 hours total of raid with them. I learned stuff and had fun, but I needed to share so yeah. Be careful and communicate, I should have done better.
