"Welcome to Bright City!" 🫧🌴🐬🌌 Frutiger Neon Cyberprep

It all started with a sunfish that I wanted to depict in a dreamlike fashion...

Truth be told: Frutiger Aero is one of my least favorite aesthetics. I dislike how it takes things of natural beauty and makes them look artificial by composition alone.

In contrast: Outrun, one of my favorite aesthetics, takes things that are obviously artificial, but composes them in a way that evokes natural beauty, without pretending to be something that it isn't.

With the aforementioned fish, I had decided to mix those two contrasting aesthetics together in order to create something pretty, yet surreal, like a plesant dream - and also because Frutiger Aero's blue and Outrun's magenta just made for a nice color scheme.

But what if I took this combination further...? What would a world built on these two aesthetics overlapping look like?

This here is the result: It's cyberprep, essentially, with an... almost obnoxiously positive vibe that I can't help but getting an uncanny valley kind of feeling from. Everything looks just right, but in a way that just doesn't look right, if you know what I mean.

I'm going to call it...

Frutiger Neon.

Would this be a good control scheme for a platform fighting game?

The game in question never got made and probably never will, but I have been thinking about the control scheme that was planned for it the other day, and I wonder how well it would actually have been recieved by players.

It was planned to work more similar to the first Digimon Rumble Arena than to typical "smashlikes," as the win condition wasn't to knock the opponent out of the stage, but simply to deplete their health bar.

Also, the engine itself was intended to act as a platform, with additional game modes that venture into other platforming genres, like platform brawler, metroidvania, puzzle platformer, and even stealth action platformer. The control scheme needed to work mostly unaltered in all of those modes.

Using an XBOX controller as an example for the button layout:

A = Jump

X = Kick

Y = Punch

B = Weapon/Power (usually a ranged attack)

LB = Block

LB + A = Charge-up/Taunt: Fills the super meter but disables blocking and movement while held. Holding LB after jumping does a midair block instead.

RB = Grab (also for picking up and throwing objects)

LB + RB = Aiming Stance: Disables movement and enables free aim.

LT = Steady Stance: Enables heavy attacks and parries, disables walking over the edge of platforms.

RT = Swift Stance: Enables light attacks and dashing.

LT + RT = Overdrive Stance: Enables EX moves and super moves. Every character has two level-1 supers and one level-2 super. With a full meter, they can all be perfomed together in a combo.

I need some help with names.

I'm working on a little fan project about a steampunk Kamen Rider based on Spring-heeled Jack. I named him Kamen Rider Darce, after Jack Darce, the real name of Spring-heeled Jack in the first novel that cast him in the role of a costumed vigilante rather than villain.

Darce is supported by two secondary Riders:

A shapeshifting fox kaijin based on Tamamo no Mae, who doesn't need a Driver to change into her Rider form. Her working title is "Kamen Rider Fox."

And a power-armored policeman, similar to Kamen Rider G3, but with a dog theme. I'm currently torn between the names "Kamen Rider Hound" and "Kamen Rider K9" for him.

Which one of those two names do you think is better?

Or do you maybe have a whole different idea for a name, also for the fox?

Please tell me.

Little Fighter

A character from a little side project that I'm currently on: A young tomboy called Itami who fancies herself an "urban ninja." While she is good at climbing and sneaking into places, and very talented with darts, she is bad at keeping a low profile and gets into fights a lot, mostly because she fears looking vulnerable more than she fears actually getting hurt.

[GPT-4o] Chaotic and Uncanny Spawn

I tried generating some of the unmentionable things. And since there is no Warhammer AI subreddit, I'm just posting them here.

Prompt:

In the rusty industrial gothic world of 40k

Chaos Spawn

Chaotic and uncanny

Magical Girl

This was kind of a happy accident that happened while I was trying to create something a little different, but I thought you might like it anyway.

🍌"Bananasai~💕" - Ai Momoyama, Seifuku Densetsu Pretty Fighter [GPT-4o]

Easily one of the cutest characters in fighting game history. 🥰

Too bad that it wasn't until the third and final game in the series that she got a good move set, though...

At age 14, Ai is the youngest amongst the cast of Pretty Fighters, and very much enjoys being a youthful bundle of energy. She is a sporty girl who has lots of fun training in all sorts of disciplines, but also has the ambition to become the best at everything she does. Her primary sport is gymnastics, and she incorporates moves from her workout routines into her fighting style. Other things that she loves are turtles, of which she has one as her pet, and bananas.
Although she normally has a very sweet personality, her competitive streak can get the better of her in a fight. Her taunts are surprisingly mean, and she is not even above using dirty moves like biting.

[Gore Warning!] Angry Meat prompt experiments - Part 1

Some more gory shenanigans resulting from prompt experiments with references to SCP-610 - "The Flesh that Hates." I was trying to see how close I could get to replicating the look of Mark Powell's Dream Dioramas that inspired this whole SCP story, but it looks like the filters have been updated lately. It's really hard now to get anything resembling a photo past them, even if it is one of silicon miniatures.

Still, it's fascinating how the placement of 'uncanny,' 'chaotic,' and 'random' in the prompt can result in noticably different images.

Prompts:

"Make an image of something

"Make something uncanny

Concept for a boss from an imaginary Silent Hill game with an aquatic/swamp theme for its monsters and Otherworld.

Diplodocus + Diplocaulus + Planarian.

Its "head" is a massive pendulum blade that it attacks with. It can be tricked into severing its own neck with it, but not only would it grow back after a while, the severed blade would also grow itself a new, although smaller and weaker body.

Diplanarus's skin is impervious to the player character's weapons. Its mouth is obviously its weak spot, but bullets still do barely any damage to it. A more effective way to kill it is to search for fuel canisters in the area and throw those into its mouth before shooting them.

None of these is the final design. They are just to give artists an idea of what it should end up looking like.

Can you guess what he is meant to be? 😁
