Sorry not sorry, Ubisoft.

Edit: I emailed them asking for permission to do it myself and what my restrictions were regarding the games written code, what I could touch, implement, etc. Not if they planned on expanding the current co-op system themselves. I’m fully aware they have no plans on doing that so I thought I’d do it myself.

I reached out to Ubisoft for an answer regarding modding their co-player limit.
They “escalated my case” told me it would remain open. I waited a month. Then my case randomly got closed with no response to my question.

So I’m going to mod the game, sorry not sorry. I’m not waiting another month for them to just close my case with no response. I documented me trying to reach out, twice now, and their lack of response. So it’s not my problem anymore lol.

Anyways stay tuned for a modded AFOP experience expanding the co-op system into a party system that can support 4 players or more.

I’m going to attempt something probably stupid: persistent dedicated servers for Frontiers of Pandora

I love AFOP, but one thing that has always bothered me is the multiplayer.
Why is Pandora limited to only co-op sessions?
I’ve always thought it would be really cool if Pandora worked more like a persistent multiplayer game. Take The Isle for example. You join a server, other people are there, people can come and go, and the world doesn’t just disappear because the person who started the session logged off.

So I want to see if we can make that happen.

I recently found something that makes this idea a lot more interesting. Massive Entertainment actually presented an “Avatar Server Approach” at GDC 2024 when discussing the Snowdrop engine and Frontiers of Pandora. Their slide lists a Linux server configuration with 64 GB RAM, 8 CPU threads, and 128 players.
Obviously, that doesn’t mean the retail game currently supports 128-player servers, and I don’t know yet what parts of that server architecture are accessible to us. The important part isn’t the number 128 by itself. It’s that Massive was discussing a Linux-based server architecture for Avatar with a player capacity dramatically beyond the retail game’s current community experience.
That’s one of the main reasons I want to investigate this rather than just assuming it’s impossible.

You can find the link to the slide list here:

and:
https://media.gdcvault.com/gdc2024/Slides/GDC+slide+presentations/Simmons_Joshua_Upgrading_the_Snowdrop.pdf?utm_

So my goal right now is to figure out exactly how this works.

I want to investigate the multiplayer architecture, where the player limit is enforced, what the existing AFOP modding tools allow us to interact with, and whether it is possible to run some form of independent dedicated server.
The first goal is extremely simple:
A persistent server that doesn’t go offline when the host leaves. You join the server, play with other people, leave whenever you want, and the server itself continues existing independently of any individual player.
If that foundation is possible, then we can worry about all the crazy ideas people have for it later.
I’m not promising that this will work. I don’t know yet if the retail game contains everything we’d need, and there could be major technical or backend limitations.
I’m just genuinely curious how far this can be pushed.
If anyone has experience with AFOP modding; Snowdrop, networking, reverse engineering, multiplayer architecture, Linux game servers, or dedicated servers, I’d love to hear from you.
And drop your ideas in the comments. Even if they’re completely ridiculous. If we ever get the basic server concept working, I’d love to see what the community would actually want to do with it.

NO promises. NO roadmaps. NO turnaround time.
Just going to see how far I can get .

UPDATE-9/10:
The reverse-engineering process has begun in Ghidra, focused on investigating multiplayer architecture and the feasibility of expanding its current co-op limitations.
This may take a while, as Ghidra often labels unidentified functions as FUN_*** and I’ll need to follow those function breadcrumbs to determine what they actually do when the analysis doesn’t provide obvious networking-related names or keywords.

I 21 F Caught SO, M 25 of 2 years looking at girls online.

For context, I have always felt uncomfortable with the idea of my significant other looking at other women online, whether it be social media posts by OF women or porn. Lewds or nudes, doesn’t matter.
I established this boundary with him early into our relationship and frequently reminded him of such boundary out of fear that he might’ve forgotten.
He didn’t have social media like Instagram or Twitter or anything, just Reddit and iFunny so I didn’t think much of it and never thought he’d look at photos/videos like that.

Well we were long distance for about a year, and in February I moved across country (TX->GA) to move in with him. Two months in I started getting depressed because I had no friends, no job, no family, no hobbies etc… I just cleaned the house every single day and made dinner for us. I expressed this to him and he understood but the depression got so bad I stopped leaving the bed.

Well one day I walked in on him in the office of our home “excited”. He put his phone down behind him and I asked him what had him excited. He said me. I knew he was lying and asked to go through his phone. He had been scrolling through SO MUCH lewd on iFunny. It hurt me so bad and I’m still hurting over it. I didn’t look anything like those girls.

He admitted he had just got stuck in it while scrolling through iFunny and he started looking at that stuff while at work on the toilet, at home, etc. That he wasn’t actively looking for it but his algorithm because that kind of content because he kept interacting with it and just got addicted. And that he had been doing it since I started getting depressed because it was an “escape” or “distraction” and he doesn’t really know how that helped him.

It’s been about 2 months since then, I’ve gotten a job and hobbies. Still no friends. But I’ve noticed I’ve very quickly developed ED like habits, changing my hair, makeup, all in an effort to get his attention again. I feel so disgusting and ugly, I looked nothing like those girls in those photos.

I don’t know what to do. How do I get through this?
