Hi everyone

I have been working on my app for the last 1 and half months

The app allows you to review flashcards before opening any app. You have to review 5 flashcards before unlock. The app idea found a lot of good feedbacks from learn Russia subreddit(really cool guys). Here is the post: https://www.reddit.com/r/russian/comments/1sgw5v0/i_made_an_app_that_allows_you_to_learn_russian/

But, after the initial boost from the reddit post - now, I have no success in growing my app

Totally I have 179 downloads

In May, I have only 33 downloads from ASO. Also, now I receive around 70-150 impressions per day and 0-5 downloads per day just from the ASO.

BTW, app is translated into 8 languages, and keywords, app name, title are different for each country available in App Store. But, for some reason only few keywords are ranking. And for some reason they are in France(anki keyword) and US(different positions from 100-200)

But, from 100~ users that come from ASO - I received zero purchases and no one started my free trial.

Not sure where is the problem, at this point I want to give up. I spend more then 1 week researching for good keywords, app name and subtitle.

So, want honest feedback about my app. Like, how bad it is? Is it complete fail at this point or there is some chances to improve my app somehow?

Also, I have no idea how to find negative feedback about my app. I have six 5 stars ratings and 2 positive reviews, which is good. But, without negative feedback from users - I do not know what is wrong and what can be improved. Any idea how to collect negative feedback?

The app shows you vocabulary words every time you open TikTok, Instagram, or any app you choose. Review 5 words to unlock the app.

That's it. No notifications. No separate study sessions. No switching back and forth (unlike other blocker apps).

Once set up, you literally never need to open the app again, unless you want to add new words to learn. Your existing phone habits become your study sessions.

It supports 11 languages and you can add your own words.

Uses SM-2 spaced repetition (intervals: 1d, 3d, 9d) so words actually stick long-term.

Core features are free. PRO unlocks custom settings: choose how many words to review per session, adjust how often they repeat, and toggle an instant-unlock option for when you're in a rush.

Feedback would be appreciated. Thanks :)

PROGRESS SO FAR:

- 150 downloads in 2 weeks

- 1 successful Reddit post drove 40k views and most of those installs

- Only 1 trial started out of 150 downloads (0.6% conversion)

The problem is paywall visibility. Right now PRO features are buried in Settings, so most users never even see what they're missing. They install, use the free core, and bounce.

Currently working on:

- Surfacing PRO features inside the main flow instead of hiding them in Settings

- Adding a soft paywall after the user reviews their first 10 words

- Testing whether a free 7-day trial banner on first launch helps

If anyone has shipped a similar fix and saw trial conversion move, I'd love to hear what worked.

Hello everyone

I build flashcards on the lock screen when you try to open distracting apps (TikTok, Instagram, etc). Spaced repetition, 11 languages, Screen Time API.

The problem: my current screenshots show the flashcard UI, but people seeing them in the App Store don't immediately get the ideaa of the app(app blocking)

Asking for honest takes:

- Is there a frame that would communicate "block + learn" instantly?

- Any apps in any category whose screenshots you think nail this kind of behavioral-change concept?

App for context

Thanks!
