🎤 We interviewed 🇷🇺 ARSENY, winner of the recent 250FPS qualifiers!

After finishing 10th in the previous season, ARSENY stepped up in the qualifiers and fought his way to victory against a strong field of players.

He’s clearly been improving, and it feels like nobody can afford to underestimate him anymore.

💬 You finished 10th last season, but looked much stronger in the qualifiers. What changed?

— I wouldn’t call it a peak performance. I completely failed the first qualifier, but managed to pull myself together for the second. The main league is also a completely different level compared to the qualifiers, so that explains the result.

💬 What are you aiming for this season? Can you improve on your previous result?

— I want to establish myself somewhere in the middle of the standings. Ideally, I’d like to make top 6 and reach the finals, but it will be difficult.

💬 Everyone can see that your skill has improved, and you’ve already beaten some top players. What held you back last season?

— I lacked consistency. In some matches I managed to play at my maximum, take maps off the strongest players and even win series. In others, I played below my level. So there were a lot of ups and downs. This season I’ll try to be more consistent.

💬 Who do you think will win the next qualifiers?

— Most likely FOG will take the next spot, but if Nitrino decides to participate, he has a great chance as well.

💬 What do you think about the idea of Division 2?

— Honestly, I didn’t really believe they would actually create a second division. I wasn’t sure where they’d find the time to organize everything. But of course, it’s a great idea. Players just below the top level can get more tournament experience, and it’s also good for the growth of the game — more players means more viewers.

💬 Many Quake Live players are playing Deadlock now. Are you thinking about trying it? EGB is already running tournaments for the game:

— I haven’t played Deadlock and don’t really have much desire to start. I don’t like these cartoon-style games like Apex, Overwatch, etc. But I might follow the EGB tournaments.

💬 Do you think dazator can step up and win next season?

— Of course. He definitely will 😄

🔥 ARSENY continues to improve season after season. His results may have been inconsistent before, but he’s increasingly capable of challenging the strongest players in the scene.

Quake Live is not only about accuracy, skill and perfect timing. Sometimes there’s also an element of luck. Moments like this don’t happen very often, which is exactly why they’re so satisfying to rewatch.

What are some of the most unexpected moments you remember from 250FPS matches?

🔥 We have news about 250FPS Division 2 — here’s how it’s going to work!

Season 6 introduces a full second division to 250FPS. This isn’t simply another tournament — it creates a new path into the main league, with the best Division 2 players earning direct invites to Division 1 for the following season.

💰 Prize pool — $300

🥇 1st place — $120 + invite to Division 1 next season
🥈 2nd place — $80 + invite to Division 1 next season
🥉 3rd place — $60
4th place — $40

👥 Who will play?

Division 2 will feature 10 players. The lineup will be formed from the best-performing players in the qualifiers who didn’t manage to secure a direct Division 1 spot and are willing to participate in the season.

This means every qualifier match matters. Even if you don’t win a qualifier, a strong performance can still earn you a place in Division 2.

⚔️ Season format

Just like in Division 1, the season will begin with a round-robin group stage, with every player facing every other player.

There will be 5 matches played each week.

🏆 Playoffs

At the end of the group stage, the top 6 players will advance to the playoffs.

The playoff format will be Double Elimination.

This is where the $300 prize pool will be decided, but there’s even more at stake: the two finalists will receive direct invites to 250FPS Division 1 for the following season.

So there is now a clear progression system within 250FPS:

Qualifiers → Division 2 → Division 1

🔥 Even if you don’t make it directly into Division 1 through the qualifiers, your run doesn’t end there. Division 2 gives players another opportunity to prove themselves, compete for prize money and earn their way into the main 250FPS division.

Last season was a rough one for him — H3lldown finished without a single match win. Now he’s back through the qualifiers and has another chance to prove himself. We asked him what went wrong last season, what his goals are for Season 6, and who he expects to qualify next. 👇

1️⃣ Last season you set a record for losses. What happened and what was holding you back?

>💬 H3lldown:
“Last season was definitely my worst in terms of results :) Everything started as usual — I came back from the St. Petersburg LAN feeling motivated, and then... boom. It was all because of accel and 240 Hz 💀”

2️⃣ How do you rate your chances going into the new season?

>💬 H3lldown:
“I won’t make any predictions. The main goal is simply not to end up at the bottom of the standings again 😎”

3️⃣ Your nickname on the website is wizard229. Is there a story behind it, and why not use the H3lldown name everyone knows?

>💬 H3lldown:
“The story is pretty simple. Back in Season 2, I logged into EGB to play. The account stayed there, and instead of bothering with a new email, I decided to keep using that account.”

4️⃣ You’re ranked 6th in Quake Live on EGB, but your 250FPS League results were much worse. Why such a big difference?

>💬 H3lldown:
“It’s pretty simple. The EGB ranking is based on EGB Cups, where I often make it into the top 8. The league has a different lineup of players, hence the difference in results.”

5️⃣ Who do you think will win the next qualifiers?

>💬 H3lldown:
“The qualifiers seem pretty predictable. Most likely, fog will be the next one to return. After that, I expect a fight between ARSENY and prox1mo. As for the final spot, it’s hard to say. There are plenty of talented players, but they can’t always attend. Maybe it’ll be Nitrino.”

6️⃣ What difficulties do you face preparing for league matches in the harsh conditions of Crimea?

>💬 H3lldown:
“Right now, knock on wood, there aren’t any problems 😂 Last season was difficult. We had no electricity at home for about a month. I would arrive at the gaming club 4–5 hours before a match, only for the power to come back 15–20 minutes before it started. With all that going on, my mindset going into the games wasn’t exactly ideal 🥲”

7️⃣ Is there any funny moment from your Quake Live history that you always remember?

>💬 H3lldown:
“I honestly have no idea what to say here. Quake isn’t really a game about funny moments — it’s more about pain and suffering 💀)))”

H3lldown has secured his place in Season 6. Now the question is: can he turn last season’s struggles into a real comeback?

🚨 Big changes are coming to 250FPS League Season 6!

The biggest update is the introduction of two divisions, giving more players an opportunity to compete in the league and work their way into the top division.

🤜 Division 1

The main division will feature 12 players. Eight spots are already secured by the top players from last season, who receive direct invites:

For players who perform well in the qualifiers but don’t manage to secure a Division 1 spot, the season won’t end there. They’ll have an opportunity to compete in the new 250FPS Division 2.

There’s also a clear path to promotion: the players who finish 1st and 2nd in Division 2 will receive direct invites to Division 1 for the following season.
