I made a little dish from offcuts of offcuts...
Now my platter has a little sister!

Now my platter has a little sister!
Filled in some of the larger splits with copper dust... im happy with how it turned out! Still got all my tootsies but i did were protective glasses for this one.... you know what they say, safety last or something.....
Wish me luck!
(Yes ill be doing it bare foot!!)
Got some cherry, some oak, some walnut some beech, maybe some ash and an unidentified redish looking wood....
Tried to get better photos as it was turning but this is the best i could get
I also decided to have a play around with dyes on my final piece of the day
So today i had a play with an idea i had, riffing off the ebonizibg ive been playing around with...
I took an oak blank and drilled 16 holes (15mm) around a circle, i then ebonized each of those holes and then made a bowl, exposing some of the diameter of those black holes....
Lessons learned: use a forstner bit instead of a janky old drill bit. Drill the whole way through the blank so i can sand the holes a bit easier (you can see theyre roygh as hell) before ebonizing them, then use sealer so the black doeast contaminate the rest of the bowl when i polush it up
Any thoughts or ideas on improving the outcone would be welcomed
Just a quick video sharing how i make a recessed chucking point...
All three are from the same piece of very very old english oak beam... Ebonized and lime waxed
