[OC] Ryūga Masayuki (龍画 正幸) - The Imperial Doodler (Playful Paper)

[OC] Ryūga Masayuki (龍画 正幸) - The Imperial Doodler (Playful Paper)

Character Profile & Background :

The Kanagawa Brains

Ryūga is the son and designated successor of the leader of the Kanagawa (金川 - The Golden River) Yakuza group. Unlike traditional violent syndicates, the modern Kanagawa group operates entirely in the white market, expanding its influence through legitimate corporate strategies. Rather than a front-line brawler, Ryūga serves as the organization's ultimate "brains"—handling financial accounting, corporate strategy, and legal correspondence. He is a man who fights with pens and blueprints rather than fists.

The Shadow of "Akagawa" (The Crimson River)

Despite their clean operations, the syndicate is plagued by a historic slander. Outsiders mockingly whisper the name "Akagawa" (赤川 - The River of Blood) behind their backs—a stigma from his grandfather’s era, where corrupt local authorities framed the syndicate for a brutal massacre that turned the streets to crimson. Ryūga’s primary driving force is to use any means necessary to wash away this unjust stain, rewrite public perception, and reclaim his family's true honor.

The Catalyst Encounter

The turning point came when Ryūga witnessed JuuChie Katayaburi executing a mission. JuuChie demonstrated a supernatural power (Nen) that defied all logic. Realizing that conventional methods could never break through the corrupt system holding his family down, Ryūga and his father struck a cold business deal: they offered JuuChie critical underworld intelligence and operational influence in exchange for her mentorship.

Under JuuChie's unorthodox guidance, Ryūga not only unlocked Nen but finally unearthed his true self—discovering a hidden personal dream long buried under the crushing weight of duty. Once the Kanagawa name is cleared, he stands fully prepared to hunt down that dream.

Nen Stats

  • Nen Type: Manipulation (Primary)
    • Playful Paper (戯画紙 - Gigashi):  Manipulation 100% | Emission 80%

Playful Paper [Manipulation , Emission]

A technical manipulation ability where Ryūga treats physical objects or bodies as his "paper." To control anything, his Emitted aura (acting as ink) must physically touch and coat the target's surface. Once attached, the aura hijacks and rewrites the target's existing physical or mechanical properties.

🖌️ The Two Instruments

  • The Katana-Brush: Ryūga uses his sword to slash raw aura onto surfaces. It is strictly for Kinetic & Vector Control using simple shorthand symbols and numbers.
    • Example: Slashing a "Right Arrow" onto a target's neck forces their head to snap right. Drawing a "North Arrow" on a car forces it to drive North until it runs out of fuel.
  • The Ink-Pen: Ryūga uses any standard pen to write detailed linguistic words and phrases for Complex & Functional Logic Control.
    • Example: Writing "Open" on a locked door. Writing "Move Freely" on a crippled arm overrides the target’s nervous system, bypassing pain signals to force immediate functionality.

The Physical Boundary: Playful Paper can only command actions within a target's achievable physical limits. It cannot alter reality (e.g., writing "Fly" on a standard bicycle will fail because it lacks aerodynamic parts).

Vows & Limitations

  1. Strict Instrument Enforcement: The Katana cannot write sentences; the Pen cannot draw vector symbols. Violation results in instant death.
  2. Irreversible Ink: Once a command hits a surface and executes, Ryūga cannot cancel or undo it mid-way. It remains active until the condition ends or the object breaks.
  3. **The Typo Tax (**ภาษีคำผิด): inputting an impossible command (violating the physical boundary) triggers a penalty chime ("Nullified"). To punish the error, the next set of strokes equal to the failed ink volume will be completely nullified.
    • To clear this tax, Ryūga must waste his next aura strokes by scribbling/splashing dummy characters onto any available physical surface (the ground, a wall, debris) before a real command can take effect again.

Tactically Cunning: The Loopholes

Examples on how Ryuga under Juuchie’s guidance come up with :

·       Vague Coding : If a written command lacks specific variables but is physically possible, the aura randomizes the execution. Writing "Turn" on an enemy's neck forces it left or right at random, saving crucial writing time while remaining entirely unpredictable to the foe.

·       The Error-Log Scanner : Ryūga exploits the "Nullified" chime as a Yes/No diagnostic tool. By intentionally writing impossible actions on unknown traps, objects, or unconscious foes, he uses the system's rejection sound to safely deduce their hidden properties or check if an enemy is truly dead.

·       Command Overriding : Although written commands cannot be deleted or undone mid-way, Ryūga can write a brand-new, completely opposite command to cross-cancel the previous one. Crucially, the Katana-Brush and the Ink-Pen can counteract each other.

Example: If Ryūga uses his Katana to slash a vector command forcing a car to "Turn Right 10 Times", he can instantly pull out his Pen and write "Turn Left synchronously during all 10 turns" on the dashboard. The opposite inputs collide and perfectly cancel each other out to a net physical force of zero—freezing the target in place.

(Heads up! Everything below this is just extra inspiration/ lore /backstory. Feel free to skip it if you're not in the mood for heavy reading!)

Behind the Character: The Inspiration (แรงบันดาลใจเบื้องหลัง)

1. The Name "Masayuki"

At first, I had zero ideas for his name or story. So, I asked my girlfriend to randomly pick some names/surnames for me, and "Masayuki" was one of them. I thought it sounded incredibly badass, so I looked up the dictionary. It means "one who finds happiness in righteousness," which perfectly fits a Manipulation-user who relies on strict logic and is deeply obsessed with his goals.

2. The Given Name "Ryūga"

This name came right after I finalized his Hatsu. Since his ability revolves around drawing, I took the word "Ga" (画 - Drawing/Painting). Then, to match the grand Japanese syndicate theme, I added "Ryū" (龍 - Dragon) to signify greatness and the immense pride a father holds for his designated successor.

3. The Personality

His traits were actually inspired by a close friend of mine. He looks tall, rigid, and intensely serious on the outside—but in reality, he is way more hilarious, chill, and relaxed than he lets on, haha.

4. The Hatsu: Playful Paper

I got this idea from a very mundane daily routine. I was looking at a notepad, writing down my food order, and handing it to a street vendor. Then it hit me—"Wait, this is literally a command sequence!" The vendor obeys the written text because money is the vow/condition. I just took that raw concept and evolved it into a Nen ability.

5. The Yakuza Background vs. Samurai

Initially, I thought about making his family a historic Samurai clan. But legally, if a Samurai family failed or committed a grave error in the past, the head would have to commit Seppuku, which makes the narrative tricky to write. Shifting them to a modern Yakuza syndicate feels much more flexible and realistic. In Japan, many modern Yakuza operate legitimate corporate businesses but historically clashed in gang wars. It feels entirely natural for a underworld syndicate to be stabbed in the back and framed by corrupt authorities using the law.

The Lore & Nen Training: The Oddball Disciple

The Maverick's Induction

Recognizing a distinct, unyielding spark in Ryūga's eyes, JuuChie decided to take him on as a student despite Ryūga not possessing a Hunter License. JuuChie completely bypassed strict Hunter Association protocols by utilizing a highly exclusive, controversial privilege known as the "As I Please" (ตามใจฉัน) card, issued through a legendary mutual agreement with Chairman Netero.

  • The Card’s Mechanics: This card functions on a strict "One Card, One Person" single-use basis. To acquire it, JuuChie must complete a high-stakes mission under his own name. Crucially, the condition is fulfilled whether JuuChie executes the mission himself or if one of his designated disciples successfully completes it on his behalf. By pooling their efforts, both mentor and student cleared the condition, earning a blank slate to legally induct a non-Hunter into the secrets of Nen.
  • The Path to Hatsu: To build his foundation, JuuChie contacted a close friend to rigorously train Ryūga in the basics of Nen. After mastering the fundamentals within a year, Ryūga returned to study directly under JuuChie using his signature "Image and Apply" methodology. Due to his bizarrely neat corporate background entering a chaotic Nen world, JuuChie humorously dubbed him "The Oddball Disciple" (ศิษย์นอกคอก).

Origin of the Hatsu (The Image & Apply Process)

Ryūga developed his Hatsu through JuuChie’s "Image and Apply" methodology. While his lifelong intimacy with calligraphy and brush painting made the initial concepts easy to imagine, transitioning into practical application required shattering his conventional biases through intense mentor-student debates.

The Image Phase (Breaking the Mold)

1.Discarding Conjuration

Ryūga initially wanted to manipulate people using conjured paper orders. JuuChie immediately shut it down.

JuuChie (Slamming a folded paper Harisen fan onto his disciple's head with a loud CRACK!) : "Manifesting a domain and conjuring physical paper orders? Are your brain wires crossed, handsome? Conjuration is on the literal opposite side of the Nen hexagon from Manipulation. Training it is a colossal waste of efficiency, and you'd have to pay so many suicidal vows just to make it work."

2.The Paper Concept

The ultimate breakthrough occurred during a mundane lecture. JuuChie uncapped a marker and fluidly wrote his own name across a massive whiteboard to begin the lesson. Watching the dark ink adhere to the slick surface, the sharp-witted Yakuza accountant experienced a sudden, profound epiphany.

Ryūga (Staring intently at the whiteboard as a realization dawns upon him) : "I see it now... I don't need to conjure Nen paper to control people. In this world, 'everything' can serve as my paper. The pen and the ink are the mediums; the target's body or the objects around me are the target surfaces waiting to be coded."

JuuChie (Grinning widely as he notices the sudden, sharp shift in his disciple's gaze) : "Exactly! Everything is a canvas if you are bold enough to write on it."

3.Emitting vs. Transmuting Ink

Ryūga initially tried to transmute his aura into actual liquid ink. JuuChie corrected his perspective, his Harisen fan already raised in a warning stance.

JuuChie (Smirking playfully while twirling his fan) : "Tell me, when you write, do you secrete ink directly from your pores? No! You dip your pen into an external inkwell and splash it onto a surface! Remember, your intimacy isn't with creating ink; it's with using ink to issue commands! Stop wasting energy on Transmutation. Leverage Emission instead. Splash your raw aura onto surfaces as if painting with it, handsome!"

The Apply Phase (Refining the System)

The "Command Grammar"

Rather than inventing a new language, mentor and disciple engaged in intense tactical debates to design a concise system of shorthand symbols and linguistic syntax to achieve maximum efficiency in combat.

JuuChie (Groaning heavily while looking over the overly detailed programming drafts) : "Your commands are a mile long, looking like a tax law amendment. In a real fight, an Enhancer will cave your face in before you finish the first sentence."

Ryūga (Adjusting his glasses, maintaining his rigid, cold corporate Yakuza tone) : "Without strict parameters, the target's physical structure might suffer runtime errors during execution, Master. However... if we entirely omit the subject and compress the code into 'Vector Trajectories' and 'Core Functions,' we can reduce the execution time to less than a second."

The Water-Brush Drill

To master the kinetic feel, Ryūga practiced controlling a high-pressure water hose to fluidly paint characters onto surfaces, sharpening his raw Emission control.

Ryūga (Sweating profusely, maintaining absolute focus while using a massive water hose to paint intricate symbols onto the concrete floor) : "This is indeed sharpening my Emission control..."

***JuuChie (Sitting comfortably on a lawn chair, sipping a cold drink) : "***Keep spraying, handsome! Focus on the pressure uniformity! Don't let up until the entire courtyard is spotless!"

Ryūga (Glancing at the massive, dirt-covered courtyard, narrowing his eyes in realization) : "...You just engineered this entire drill to get your headquarters' courtyard washed for free, didn't you?"

The Iaido-Brush Training

The genesis of his weapon choice began during a casual drinking session. JuuChie noted that carrying a giant paintbrush into battle would be completely inflexible, clunky, and have zero utility. Ryūga suggested a Katana instead—matching the exact physical length and weight of a large brush, while utilizing the martial arts training he was forced to master since childhood. JuuChie applauded his disciple's growing mental flexibility, before tossing out the next riddle:

JuuChie (Speaking in a calm, unusually serious tone) : "Ryūga... have you ever heard the saying that a true sword duel is decided entirely by the speed of the draw?"

Ryūga (Frowning, instantly analyzing the combat mechanics) : "You want me to train in Iaido? But that is a high-speed, close-quarters counter technique. If I try to trade blows at arm's length against an iron-bodied Enhancer, my bones will be pulverized."

JuuChie (Remaining completely silent, merely letting a sly, knowing smirk curl at the edge of his lips) : "..."

Ryūga (Freezing in silence for three seconds as the mischievous glint in his master’s eyes causes the hidden Nen logic to click) : "...I see. The key is simply to draw and slash as fast as humanly possible. Emission is the act of detaching aura from the body... You never said I actually had to stand in 'close range' like everyone else!"

This crucial epiphany birthed his signature long-range tactical style: executing lightning-fast quick-draws to slash airborne aura ink-waves, etching vector symbols onto his targets completely out of harm's way, leaving opponents severely pressured and utterly caught off-guard.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for reading my LONG-ASS lore until the end! Sharing this is pure joy for me. Drop a comment and tell me your thoughts! Hope you all love it enough to look forward to the next character. Get ready, because the next Hatsu is about to step up!?!?

[OC] Honoka Gumglazer - The Confectionery Transmuter (Ideal Flavor & Caketopia)

Character Profile & Background

• Name: Honoka Gumglazer

• Appearance: Honoka is a 20-year-old woman with a fair, almost pale complexion, standing at an average height. She has smooth, flowing hair paired with gentle brown eyes. Her demeanor is tender, warm, and polite—yet far from weak.

• Physique & Metabolism: She possesses a slender physique, bordering on thin, caused by a naturally hyperactive metabolism that burns energy at an abnormally rapid rate.

Obsession: Honoka is fiercely determined and deeply obsessed with sweets, whether it comes to eating, analyzing, or baking them. Her ultimate dream is to create entirely new dessert recipes using unprecedented ingredients and innovative culinary techniques.

Nen Stats

Nen Type: Transmutation (Primary)

  • Ideal Flavor: Transmutation 100%
  • Caketopia: Transmutation 100% | Conjuration 80%

1. Ideal Flavor [Transmutation]

Honoka transmutes her aura to possess a bouncy, jelly-like elasticity reminiscent of sweets. It operates under one simple rule: at the exact point of impact, the entity (person or object) with the lower amount of aura will be repelled. Unlike standard aura clashes where forces mitigate each other, this ability combines them.

Example: If an enemy strikes with 50 aura and Honoka counters with 60 aura, the enemy will be blasted back with a combined force of 110, rather than the net difference of 10 (60-50)

Conversely, if she strikes or collides with a lower amount of aura, she herself will be repelled with that same combined force of 110.

  • The Point of Impact Rule: The comparison occurs strictly at the exact point of contact, not based on total body aura. Therefore, even if an enemy has less total aura overall, if they focus their aura into a single point (such as using Ko) and exceed Honoka's aura at that specific contact point, they will win the clash and send the massive repelling force directly into Honoka.
  • The Equivalence Rule: In the rare event that the aura at the point of impact is perfectly equal, it is not treated as being repelled by the opponent. Instead, both parties are blown backward by the force of their own respective outputs.
  • Self-Immunity: Honoka takes no damage from the kinetic recoil or impacts caused by her own ability (similar to how Killua is immune to his own electricity).

2. Caketopia [Transmutation, Conjuration]

Honoka conjures a flavorless cake by consuming both her aura and her body's physical calories, utilizing a strict Calorie-to-Aura ratio of 1:4. This conjured cake possesses the exact same transmuted aura properties as Ideal Flavor.

However, it can only retain this bouncy aura property for a single impact. After being struck once, the cake loses its special property and turns into an ordinary, mundane cake.

  • Base Unit Scale: 1 calorie creates a piece of cake measuring inches 3×3×3 inches (≈442.45 cm³).
  • The Math: Spending 1,000 calories (and 4,000 aura) generates roughly of cake. This is a solid mass roughly the size of a standard front-loading washing machine (76×76×76 cm), which can be spread thin into a large defensive wall or compressed into a hyper-dense shield.

 Fuel Loop & Physical Gimmicks

  • The Aura Reuptake (Recycle): If a conjured cake is left unused, Honoka can dissolve it back into raw aura and literally inhale/suck it back into her body to instantly reclaim the spent calories and aura. This only works on her own cakes.
  • The Unhinged Jaw: Despite her slender, gentle appearance, Honoka possesses a bizarre physical trait—she can unhinge her jaw and open her mouth terrifyingly wide. Whether she is rapidly inhaling her own aura-cakes mid-battle, or losing herself in a confectionery trance at a local bakery, she can deep-throat a massive block of cake the size of a melon in a single, monstrous bite.

Weaknesses & Risks

  • The Backfire Risk: If she miscalculates the opponent's aura output (e.g., if the enemy uses a hidden Ko or In), and her aura ends up lower at the point of impact, she takes the full combined force (110) of the rejection. A single mistake can be fatal.
  • Metabolic Exhaustion: Because Caketopia drains physical calories and she already has a hyperactive metabolism, overusing this ability quickly pushes her body into severe exhaustion, hypoglycemia, or fainting.

Design Trivia & Inspiration (The Anti-Biscuit Krueger)

  • The Foil to Biscuit: Honoka was intentionally designed to be the exact antithesis of Biscuit Krueger. While Biscuit is a massive, muscular powerhouse who puts on a fake, cute exterior and behaves overtly, Honoka is genuinely kind, frail, and slender on the outside, but harbors a terrifying, ravenous insanity and deep psychological secrets within.
  • The Name: Her name was intentionally crafted to rhyme with and echo Hisoka, paying homage to the classic, unpredictable, and fickle nature of a true Transmuter in the Hunter x Hunter universe.
  • The Surname (Gumglazer): Her surname, Gumglazer , refers directly to her family's lineage/obsession with sugar-glazing and her jelly-like transmutable aura. While it may sound like modern internet slang to some, in the world of Nen, it is a prestigious yet eerie name associated with her confectionery madness. It also serves as a playful nod to Hisoka’s famous Bungee Gum.
  • The Lore: Honoka is close friends with an unconventional, rogue Nen Tutor named JuuChie Katayaburi (十智恵 型破り). Rather than engaging in direct combat, he focuses his analytical mind on refining others' abilities (such as Playful Paper and Tip Toe). His teaching insight is even recognized by the late Chairman Netero, who took notice of JuuChie's fresh, out-of-the-box perspectives on Nen mechanics.

Open for Discussion!

I have my own tactical ideas for her, but I’d love to see how creative this sub can get!

How do you think Honoka could creatively apply or combo these abilities in a Nen battle? Let me know your theories!
