Make a hatsu to exploit another universe's power system

Make a hatsu to exploit another universe's power system

Basically you need to make a hatsu to cover up the short comings or take advantage of another power system. No need to give explanations of the power systems. I think we all can google it. Some examples are

Using transmutation to create oxygen inside the blood and the lungs so that breathing becomes unnecessary. This can extremely useful for hamon users from jojo.

Using transmutation and manipulation to create circles and symbols in order to use alchemy without previous preparations from full metal alchemist.

Using conjuration to summon another pair of arms as well as an extra mouth in order to cast domains and do chants just like sukuna and his perfect body for jujutsu.

Now obviously some of these are way too simple and would probably not require much conditions. But i am interested to see how far you guys can take this.

How do you design a main character's power so it becomes as iconic and "theirs" as Luffy's rubber or Deku's One For All?

I'm a young mangaka working on a long-running battle manga (planning 700-800 chapters), and I'm stuck on the one thing I think matters most: my protagonist's signature power.

I don't just want a cool ability. I want something that:

  • Feels 100% original, not a reskin of an existing power system
  • Is visually stunning in motion — the kind of panel that gets clipped and shared even out of context
  • Has genuine emotional/thematic weight tied to who the character IS, not just what he can do
  • Can evolve naturally across hundreds of chapters without running out of ideas or feeling like "the same trick, bigger numbers"
  • Is instantly recognizable — if someone describes the power, readers should immediately know which character you mean

I've been going back and forth for weeks between different concepts and keep hitting the same wall: ideas that sound deep on paper end up mechanically thin in actual combat, and ideas that are combat-rich end up feeling generic or borrowed from other series.

For those of you who've designed a power system from scratch (for your own manga, webcomic, or even just worldbuilding for fun) — how did you actually find the "right" one? Did it come to you all at once, or did you iterate through a bunch of failed attempts first? Any advice, examples, or even just war stories about your own process would help a ton. 🙏

Help define Hatsu?

I decided to try to define ability from Gintama - ability that Kagura had post-timeskip.

It allowed her to seemingly change ages between a little kid, her actual age (15/16-ish teenager) and an old granny.

I assume that the ability would have two parts:

- self-regeneration - using enhancenent abilities to speed up regeneration at caloric cost it would take normally, but at once

- changing age she regenerated toward - using transmutation or manipulation - but I have no idea what would be limitation/cost here

Kagura would probably initially create this ability as memento to her mother, who was an immortal, but then add age-shifting part for convinience + pranking people.

Possible restriction I think Kagura could agree that her nen cannot directly affect other people - she could use it to defend herself (durability and healing, avoidance and such) or indirect attacks.

She can use nen on her umbrella to be better at causing a gust of wind and use that to hit enemy, but she can use only her (Yato) strength for attacks.

But for that she would be better at using nen on herself and tools she considers as hers.

JUMPIN' JACK FLASH! (Muscular Atrophy Accelerating Hatsu)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autophagy

I like the idea of an assassin who kills their victims by supercharging a natural process in their corporeal biology.

Supercharging someone's immune system into developing autoimmune disorders like Hashimoto's disease, where their immune system attacks their thyroid or Type 1 Diabetes where the pancreas is attacked by their immune system.

Autophagy is your body salubriously breaking itself down, technically "eating itself" for homeostasis.

Astronauts in space have to excercise a lot more so their muscles and bones don't atrophy into lethal hypotonia and osteoperosis because the lack of gravity in space.

Imagine supercharging someone's autophagy to rob them of their strength and mobility, going from Mr. Universe to a string bean.

YO MY FIRST HXH OC

Hunter Profile: The Omniscient Archivist

Hunter Class: Information Hunter (Single/Double Rank)

Nen Type: Specialist (Specialization)

Secondary Masteries: Conjuration & Manipulation

[Passive State: The Web of Whispers]

Your presence is entirely hidden from the world. You operate through a highly contagious, invisible network of automated parasitic constructs that act like an info-hazard virus.

1. The Meme Vector (Infection Condition)

Mechanism: Initial infection requires direct contact or close-quarters aura transmission from you. From there, the parasite becomes a psychological virus.

The Contagion: If an infected host speaks a specific keyword or thinks of a highly specific condition (defined by you), the Nen beast reproduces and latches onto anyone nearby. It spreads exponentially through social interactions, dialogue, or shared thoughts. As the Nen beast is weak, it is made up of low amount of nen. When host are controlled by other manipulator's Nen ability, the Nen beast will hide, it will allow the other Nen user to control the host. After the Nen user finished, it will continue controlling the user like before.

2. Stealth & Sustenance (Parasitic Mimicry)

The Stealth: The Nen beast is a parasitic-type construct. It blends its own aura seamlessly with the host's native aura. Standard *Gyo* cannot detect it because it adopts the unique frequency and "flavor" of the host's life force. However the Nen beast is physically weak and can be removed from host's body. If the host is using zetsu, the Nen beast will follow to not reveal their presence.

The Tax: The beast survives by feeding on a microscopic, completely unnoticeable amount of the host's Nen. It requires zero upkeep or aura maintenance from you once deployed.

[Active Ability: Hatsu Techniques]

Hatsu 1: "Mind Parasite: The Whispering Gallery" (Manipulation/Conjuration)

The core functions of your conjured parasitic beasts. You can activate these features manually on any host, or leave them to run on automated protocols.

Intel Feed: The beast acts as a live wiretap, transmitting everything the host sees, hears, and senses directly back to your sub-conscious network.

Neuro-Weaving: The beast can mimic the exact behavior of human neurotransmitters. By altering dopamine, serotonin, or acetylcholine levels, you can induce vivid hallucinations, control dreams, or completely rewrite their sensory reality.

Puppetry (Coercive Switch): You can completely override the host's nervous system, turning their body into a mindless puppet to act out your commands.

Synaptic Detonation: Upon your mental command, the parasite violently detonates from *inside* the host's skull or chest cavity. This serves as an untraceable assassination tool, a mass-casualty trap, or a sudden distraction to protect your network.

Automated Feature: "The Immune Reflex":

- Trigger Condition: Activates automatically if an external Nen is showing hostility toward the host.

- The Mechanism: The parasite detects the incoming hostile aura and immediately triggers a physical reaction from the host.

- The Reaction: The parasite takes immediate physical action using the host's body. It either forces the host into a sudden, violent counter-attack against the attacking Nen user, or triggers a manual **Synaptic Detonation** to eliminate the threat.

Hatsu 2: "The Eternal Archive: Samsara Library" (Specialization)

The ultimate solution to data overload. You do not consciously hold the memories of thousands of hosts; instead, you filters and logs all incoming data into a conceptual pocket dimension.

The Repository: Every piece of knowledge, every memory, every secret conversation, and every visual feed and sensations gathered by your parasites is automatically stored inside an infinite, perfectly organized mental library within your Nen.

The State of Trance: To access this information, you must enter a deep, meditative trance. While in this state, your physical senses and defense in the real world drop to zero. However, inside the Archive, you gain absolute omniscience over everything your network has ever touched.

Post-Mortem Nen : "Ego Transfer"

Trigger Condition: Your physical body suffers a fatal blow or your heart completely stops.

The Reincarnation: Upon your physical death, your post-mortem Specialist aura immediately detaches from your corpse and hops to *any* available infected host currently active in the world.

The Restructuring: You overwrite the host's ego, taking complete control of their body as your new permanent vessel. From there, you can safely access your *Samsara Library* to retrieve your past life's knowledge and begin rebuilding your physical Nen capacity from within your new identity.

Are Emission based Teleport abilities common?

We've seen Chrollo do it, Goreinu as well, but with Emission Beasts.

Knov is using a more complex version of it.

Seems like quite an overpowered ability, to teleport around the battlefield at moments notice, could do sick Minato-level (from Naruto, he teleports for those who don't know) combat combos.

Bring Me Your Ingredients, I’ll Cook the Hatsu!

Hey guys! Want to challenge myself by crafting some fresh Hatsu designs for you.

Drop a rough [Nen Type] + [Core Vibe/Concept] in the comments. Let's keep it grounded and balanced (nothing too OP).

Don't worry if your idea isn't fully formed yet—just shoot it over, and we can fine-tune the mechanics and conditions together! Once it’s polished, it’s 100% yours.

Bonus: If a concept really catches my interest and I love it, I might even help design an original character (OC) to match it! Feel free to include a rough [OC Vibe/Archetype] if you already have a character look in mind.

Let's cook!"

Is it possible to create Irazusandō from bleach?

I’ve been writing a story with some friends, and one of my characters is a martial artist. I’m interested in creating my own version of Irazusandō for him. For context, Irazusandō is the hidden stone path located within the Soul King’s Palace in Bleach. It serves as a divine and terrifying trial, testing whether a candidate possesses the physical strength, spiritual fortitude, and unwavering resolve required to become the Soul King. I love the core concept behind it and want to adapt that idea into a unique trial for my own character—one that pushes them to their absolute limits.

The happiest death of innocence. (100% Conjuration) and (80% transmutation).

  4. Malice will disappear if the user becomes unconscious.

I'm not sure how strong this healing Hatsu should be

Twilight Prayers

Conjurer 100% Enhancer 60% (or should these be switched?)

The user conjures a set of antlers on top of their head that sheads sand-like material that has healing properties. The dust also accelerates the growth rate of plants. The dust heals passively what it comes into contact with, works best when target is submerged in the dust. Dust generated disintegrates after 5 minutes of being created, the user can keep a steady flow of dust being shead to maintain a constant amount.

The strength of the healing dust is determined by the current phase of the moon. Crescent would only yield about 25% its max effectiveness, Half moon = 50%, and a full moon = 100% its max strength; along with the rest of the phases. The use can use this Hatsu during the day, but user's powers grow stronger under direct moonlight.

Healing Shroom- once a night, under the direct moonlight, the user can conjure a single seed that when planted, will grow into a mushroom that when eaten, will give the full affects of the stored healing level instantaneously. Healing Shroom seed takes 1 hour to sprout. The effectiveness of the mushroom is determined by the phase of moon it was grown under.

Im just not how strong this Hatsu should be

The You I See

Lightly based on songs by NF, this ability makes people see the best or the worst in themselves depending on the user's perception of them.

Prerequisites:

The user must experience and understand a person's traits whether positive or negative. A clear understanding of these traits, where they may have come from, and how they affect the target's life is required.

It doesn't have to be someone you've known for a long time. It can be as simple as meeting someone new who makes an uncomfortably familiar joke which causes you to understand that this person struggles with social interactions and probably has been dealing with this disposition for a while. Experience with mental health, psychology, or people makes usage of this ability more effective.

Fairy Shadows:

The user conjures a nen beast that small enough to float above the palm of the hand. If the user has a good impression of the target, the nen beast takes the form of a fairy, similar to something out of Zelda. If the user has a negative impression, the beast will take the form of a shadowy ghost.

The beast follows the target and can't be seen by them. The easiest way to get a beast to follow a target is with proximity. However, you can cause a fairy shadow to find a person from a long distance if the user and target know each other's first names, faces, and general location of residence. The user experiences a light constant aura cost until the beast reaches the target.

The beasts are sentient companions. The fairy's are kind and protective while the shadows are vindictive in a way that may come across as gleeful or stoic. Beasts may change their form, for instance, if a person betrays your trust, a fairy may become a shadow. Or if your hate turns to love then a shadow may become a fairy. If someone you love loses their way, it can still be a fairy that protects them.

Good & Bad Impressions:

When a fairy follows a person around, it helps them experience feelings of positivity, warmth, comfort, safety, confidence, and the like. The fairy also reminds a person of their most positives traits, especially when sleeping. The fairy can also stimulate increased health and healing.

When a shadow follows a person around, it causes them to experience increased negativity including feelings of anxiety, nightmares, self doubt, negative voices in their head, etc. The target becomes more and more faced with their negative traits and insecurities. Even traits the target doesn't realize they have so long as the user identified it. This essentially mental torture will likely cause the target to experience decline in both their mental and physical health. And make it harder to hide their negative traits. However, if the target becomes truly remorseful and changes for the better, the shadow is lifted.

The effects scale understanding as well as the love or hate the user feels for a person. A person the user doesn't understand well and thinks is okay, may feel more comfort. But a person the user has a deep love for will experience great warmth, love, and healing. A person the user hates will experience quicker and more powerful decline.

If the user has strong mixed feelings for a target, such as a lover whom they just broke up with that they love and don't want to hurt but want to show them the error of their ways, the user may conjure a nen beast that has mixed traits of fairy and shadow. Providing effects from both sides such as pointing at some negatives and some positives while trying to guide them down clarity and self understanding, as well as healing that prevents them from being pushed off the edge like a normal shadow is more likely to do.

Heart Burst:
The fairy shadows come with an ability where they can go inside of a target to cause them to experience a short burst of of aura that can cause them to feel the user's feelings for them, experience their own memories, have a deeper understanding of theirself, etc.

Fairylike Protection:
If a person followed by a fairy is faced with dire irreversible harm, a fairy can protect them by teleporting them away to a place the fairy identifies as a one of the target's safe spaces, or giving them temporary enhanced hysterical strength. The effect is at the cost of the fairy who will disappear and it will take some time before the user can conjure and bestow another one onto them.

What upgrade on Skill Hunter would you give Chrollo?

To compliment the book theme, I'll give Chrollo an index card where anyone can write on it to be able to borrow a page and use the ability, but with the added condition of also giving this nen user a bookmark. I didn't really put much more thought on it than this.

But what type of upgrade would you give Chrollo's Skill Hunter?

Let me know, your thoughts. OSU!

How would this nen work?

A Specialist Nen system that converts structured training contracts into optimized biological adaptation cycles by enforcing overload, regulating aura allocation, and mandating Zetsu recovery. Allowing physical and mental performance through an architecture of adaptive recovery cycles, while combat abilities function as condition-locked execution states that only activate under strict vow compliance and prior training validation. Nen becomes a self-enforcing training economy where discipline, stress, and recovery are cycled through vow-bound rules to maximize adaptation efficiency without ever breaking biological cost.

It verifies honest effort. It enforces binding vows. It allocates aura optimally. It accelerates recovery within the limits imposed by the vows. It never removes the cost—it changes when and how efficiently the cost is paid.

You don’t become permanently stronger—you build a ledger of conditional states that unlock overwhelming power only when your past discipline matches your present demand.

[OC] Ryūga Masayuki (龍画 正幸) - The Imperial Doodler (Playful Paper)

[OC] Ryūga Masayuki (龍画 正幸) - The Imperial Doodler (Playful Paper)

Character Profile & Background :

The Kanagawa Brains

Ryūga is the son and designated successor of the leader of the Kanagawa (金川 - The Golden River) Yakuza group. Unlike traditional violent syndicates, the modern Kanagawa group operates entirely in the white market, expanding its influence through legitimate corporate strategies. Rather than a front-line brawler, Ryūga serves as the organization's ultimate "brains"—handling financial accounting, corporate strategy, and legal correspondence. He is a man who fights with pens and blueprints rather than fists.

The Shadow of "Akagawa" (The Crimson River)

Despite their clean operations, the syndicate is plagued by a historic slander. Outsiders mockingly whisper the name "Akagawa" (赤川 - The River of Blood) behind their backs—a stigma from his grandfather’s era, where corrupt local authorities framed the syndicate for a brutal massacre that turned the streets to crimson. Ryūga’s primary driving force is to use any means necessary to wash away this unjust stain, rewrite public perception, and reclaim his family's true honor.

The Catalyst Encounter

The turning point came when Ryūga witnessed JuuChie Katayaburi executing a mission. JuuChie demonstrated a supernatural power (Nen) that defied all logic. Realizing that conventional methods could never break through the corrupt system holding his family down, Ryūga and his father struck a cold business deal: they offered JuuChie critical underworld intelligence and operational influence in exchange for her mentorship.

Under JuuChie's unorthodox guidance, Ryūga not only unlocked Nen but finally unearthed his true self—discovering a hidden personal dream long buried under the crushing weight of duty. Once the Kanagawa name is cleared, he stands fully prepared to hunt down that dream.

Nen Stats

  • Nen Type: Manipulation (Primary)
    • Playful Paper (戯画紙 - Gigashi):  Manipulation 100% | Emission 80%

Playful Paper [Manipulation , Emission]

A technical manipulation ability where Ryūga treats physical objects or bodies as his "paper." To control anything, his Emitted aura (acting as ink) must physically touch and coat the target's surface. Once attached, the aura hijacks and rewrites the target's existing physical or mechanical properties.

🖌️ The Two Instruments

  • The Katana-Brush: Ryūga uses his sword to slash raw aura onto surfaces. It is strictly for Kinetic & Vector Control using simple shorthand symbols and numbers.
    • Example: Slashing a "Right Arrow" onto a target's neck forces their head to snap right. Drawing a "North Arrow" on a car forces it to drive North until it runs out of fuel.
  • The Ink-Pen: Ryūga uses any standard pen to write detailed linguistic words and phrases for Complex & Functional Logic Control.
    • Example: Writing "Open" on a locked door. Writing "Move Freely" on a crippled arm overrides the target’s nervous system, bypassing pain signals to force immediate functionality.

The Physical Boundary: Playful Paper can only command actions within a target's achievable physical limits. It cannot alter reality (e.g., writing "Fly" on a standard bicycle will fail because it lacks aerodynamic parts).

Vows & Limitations

  1. Strict Instrument Enforcement: The Katana cannot write sentences; the Pen cannot draw vector symbols. Violation results in instant death.
  2. Irreversible Ink: Once a command hits a surface and executes, Ryūga cannot cancel or undo it mid-way. It remains active until the condition ends or the object breaks.
  3. **The Typo Tax (**ภาษีคำผิด): inputting an impossible command (violating the physical boundary) triggers a penalty chime ("Nullified"). To punish the error, the next set of strokes equal to the failed ink volume will be completely nullified.
    • To clear this tax, Ryūga must waste his next aura strokes by scribbling/splashing dummy characters onto any available physical surface (the ground, a wall, debris) before a real command can take effect again.

Tactically Cunning: The Loopholes

Examples on how Ryuga under Juuchie’s guidance come up with :

·       Vague Coding : If a written command lacks specific variables but is physically possible, the aura randomizes the execution. Writing "Turn" on an enemy's neck forces it left or right at random, saving crucial writing time while remaining entirely unpredictable to the foe.

·       The Error-Log Scanner : Ryūga exploits the "Nullified" chime as a Yes/No diagnostic tool. By intentionally writing impossible actions on unknown traps, objects, or unconscious foes, he uses the system's rejection sound to safely deduce their hidden properties or check if an enemy is truly dead.

·       Command Overriding : Although written commands cannot be deleted or undone mid-way, Ryūga can write a brand-new, completely opposite command to cross-cancel the previous one. Crucially, the Katana-Brush and the Ink-Pen can counteract each other.

Example: If Ryūga uses his Katana to slash a vector command forcing a car to "Turn Right 10 Times", he can instantly pull out his Pen and write "Turn Left synchronously during all 10 turns" on the dashboard. The opposite inputs collide and perfectly cancel each other out to a net physical force of zero—freezing the target in place.

(Heads up! Everything below this is just extra inspiration/ lore /backstory. Feel free to skip it if you're not in the mood for heavy reading!)

Behind the Character: The Inspiration (แรงบันดาลใจเบื้องหลัง)

1. The Name "Masayuki"

At first, I had zero ideas for his name or story. So, I asked my girlfriend to randomly pick some names/surnames for me, and "Masayuki" was one of them. I thought it sounded incredibly badass, so I looked up the dictionary. It means "one who finds happiness in righteousness," which perfectly fits a Manipulation-user who relies on strict logic and is deeply obsessed with his goals.

2. The Given Name "Ryūga"

This name came right after I finalized his Hatsu. Since his ability revolves around drawing, I took the word "Ga" (画 - Drawing/Painting). Then, to match the grand Japanese syndicate theme, I added "Ryū" (龍 - Dragon) to signify greatness and the immense pride a father holds for his designated successor.

3. The Personality

His traits were actually inspired by a close friend of mine. He looks tall, rigid, and intensely serious on the outside—but in reality, he is way more hilarious, chill, and relaxed than he lets on, haha.

4. The Hatsu: Playful Paper

I got this idea from a very mundane daily routine. I was looking at a notepad, writing down my food order, and handing it to a street vendor. Then it hit me—"Wait, this is literally a command sequence!" The vendor obeys the written text because money is the vow/condition. I just took that raw concept and evolved it into a Nen ability.

5. The Yakuza Background vs. Samurai

Initially, I thought about making his family a historic Samurai clan. But legally, if a Samurai family failed or committed a grave error in the past, the head would have to commit Seppuku, which makes the narrative tricky to write. Shifting them to a modern Yakuza syndicate feels much more flexible and realistic. In Japan, many modern Yakuza operate legitimate corporate businesses but historically clashed in gang wars. It feels entirely natural for a underworld syndicate to be stabbed in the back and framed by corrupt authorities using the law.

The Lore & Nen Training: The Oddball Disciple

The Maverick's Induction

Recognizing a distinct, unyielding spark in Ryūga's eyes, JuuChie decided to take him on as a student despite Ryūga not possessing a Hunter License. JuuChie completely bypassed strict Hunter Association protocols by utilizing a highly exclusive, controversial privilege known as the "As I Please" (ตามใจฉัน) card, issued through a legendary mutual agreement with Chairman Netero.

  • The Card’s Mechanics: This card functions on a strict "One Card, One Person" single-use basis. To acquire it, JuuChie must complete a high-stakes mission under his own name. Crucially, the condition is fulfilled whether JuuChie executes the mission himself or if one of his designated disciples successfully completes it on his behalf. By pooling their efforts, both mentor and student cleared the condition, earning a blank slate to legally induct a non-Hunter into the secrets of Nen.
  • The Path to Hatsu: To build his foundation, JuuChie contacted a close friend to rigorously train Ryūga in the basics of Nen. After mastering the fundamentals within a year, Ryūga returned to study directly under JuuChie using his signature "Image and Apply" methodology. Due to his bizarrely neat corporate background entering a chaotic Nen world, JuuChie humorously dubbed him "The Oddball Disciple" (ศิษย์นอกคอก).

Origin of the Hatsu (The Image & Apply Process)

Ryūga developed his Hatsu through JuuChie’s "Image and Apply" methodology. While his lifelong intimacy with calligraphy and brush painting made the initial concepts easy to imagine, transitioning into practical application required shattering his conventional biases through intense mentor-student debates.

The Image Phase (Breaking the Mold)

1.Discarding Conjuration

Ryūga initially wanted to manipulate people using conjured paper orders. JuuChie immediately shut it down.

JuuChie (Slamming a folded paper Harisen fan onto his disciple's head with a loud CRACK!) : "Manifesting a domain and conjuring physical paper orders? Are your brain wires crossed, handsome? Conjuration is on the literal opposite side of the Nen hexagon from Manipulation. Training it is a colossal waste of efficiency, and you'd have to pay so many suicidal vows just to make it work."

2.The Paper Concept

The ultimate breakthrough occurred during a mundane lecture. JuuChie uncapped a marker and fluidly wrote his own name across a massive whiteboard to begin the lesson. Watching the dark ink adhere to the slick surface, the sharp-witted Yakuza accountant experienced a sudden, profound epiphany.

Ryūga (Staring intently at the whiteboard as a realization dawns upon him) : "I see it now... I don't need to conjure Nen paper to control people. In this world, 'everything' can serve as my paper. The pen and the ink are the mediums; the target's body or the objects around me are the target surfaces waiting to be coded."

JuuChie (Grinning widely as he notices the sudden, sharp shift in his disciple's gaze) : "Exactly! Everything is a canvas if you are bold enough to write on it."

3.Emitting vs. Transmuting Ink

Ryūga initially tried to transmute his aura into actual liquid ink. JuuChie corrected his perspective, his Harisen fan already raised in a warning stance.

JuuChie (Smirking playfully while twirling his fan) : "Tell me, when you write, do you secrete ink directly from your pores? No! You dip your pen into an external inkwell and splash it onto a surface! Remember, your intimacy isn't with creating ink; it's with using ink to issue commands! Stop wasting energy on Transmutation. Leverage Emission instead. Splash your raw aura onto surfaces as if painting with it, handsome!"

The Apply Phase (Refining the System)

The "Command Grammar"

Rather than inventing a new language, mentor and disciple engaged in intense tactical debates to design a concise system of shorthand symbols and linguistic syntax to achieve maximum efficiency in combat.

JuuChie (Groaning heavily while looking over the overly detailed programming drafts) : "Your commands are a mile long, looking like a tax law amendment. In a real fight, an Enhancer will cave your face in before you finish the first sentence."

Ryūga (Adjusting his glasses, maintaining his rigid, cold corporate Yakuza tone) : "Without strict parameters, the target's physical structure might suffer runtime errors during execution, Master. However... if we entirely omit the subject and compress the code into 'Vector Trajectories' and 'Core Functions,' we can reduce the execution time to less than a second."

The Water-Brush Drill

To master the kinetic feel, Ryūga practiced controlling a high-pressure water hose to fluidly paint characters onto surfaces, sharpening his raw Emission control.

Ryūga (Sweating profusely, maintaining absolute focus while using a massive water hose to paint intricate symbols onto the concrete floor) : "This is indeed sharpening my Emission control..."

***JuuChie (Sitting comfortably on a lawn chair, sipping a cold drink) : "***Keep spraying, handsome! Focus on the pressure uniformity! Don't let up until the entire courtyard is spotless!"

Ryūga (Glancing at the massive, dirt-covered courtyard, narrowing his eyes in realization) : "...You just engineered this entire drill to get your headquarters' courtyard washed for free, didn't you?"

The Iaido-Brush Training

The genesis of his weapon choice began during a casual drinking session. JuuChie noted that carrying a giant paintbrush into battle would be completely inflexible, clunky, and have zero utility. Ryūga suggested a Katana instead—matching the exact physical length and weight of a large brush, while utilizing the martial arts training he was forced to master since childhood. JuuChie applauded his disciple's growing mental flexibility, before tossing out the next riddle:

JuuChie (Speaking in a calm, unusually serious tone) : "Ryūga... have you ever heard the saying that a true sword duel is decided entirely by the speed of the draw?"

Ryūga (Frowning, instantly analyzing the combat mechanics) : "You want me to train in Iaido? But that is a high-speed, close-quarters counter technique. If I try to trade blows at arm's length against an iron-bodied Enhancer, my bones will be pulverized."

JuuChie (Remaining completely silent, merely letting a sly, knowing smirk curl at the edge of his lips) : "..."

Ryūga (Freezing in silence for three seconds as the mischievous glint in his master’s eyes causes the hidden Nen logic to click) : "...I see. The key is simply to draw and slash as fast as humanly possible. Emission is the act of detaching aura from the body... You never said I actually had to stand in 'close range' like everyone else!"

This crucial epiphany birthed his signature long-range tactical style: executing lightning-fast quick-draws to slash airborne aura ink-waves, etching vector symbols onto his targets completely out of harm's way, leaving opponents severely pressured and utterly caught off-guard.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Transmutation Malleability

I'm not sure if this has been discussed already, just a thought I had.

Does it make sense that, instead of straight up transformation, transmutation can change the shape, but not the material, of real-life objects (i.e. malleability)? As a comparison, think of how transmutation works in Full Metal Alchemist. The user's understanding of the material(s) is crucial for the change, but they would need to carry the material around, or have it nearby somehow to use their ability. This may explain why we see more transmuters focus on altering the characteristics of their own aura instead, it's less cumbersome.

This could answer how Youpi can sculpt his body to produce spikes, his additional arms, or his wings. He's using the same material, but sculpting its shape. Then we have Bisky who has the same material (her body), but it's been compressed then sculpted to her cute form. With Youpi and his multiple eyes, this could be a weird gray area wherein he either uses transmutation to shape his body into something he already has (i.e. eyes), or he dips into conjuration to produce more eyes. Same for his rage form, it makes sense that he dips into conjuration to at least form that blade, maybe that head/shield form on his other arm.

How does this differ from conjuration? For two reasons. 1) Conjuration can create new materials; and 2) conjuration can impose rules to grant additional abilities to their objects. So, when we see all of those conjurers with transformation abilities, we can see how they not only changed the shape of the material, but create new material that didn't exist. For example, Biohazard, Fist Full of Weapons, Rider's High, as well as (stay with me here) the transformations of Crazy Slots. This dip can also explain things like Fun Fun Cloth dipping into transmutation to produce its shrinking effect (same material, different size).

I've never been a fan of the idea that transformation abilities are transmutation or conjuration. I felt that context mattered here as how what kind of transformation it is. I'd love to hear thoughts on this.
