Playroom Toy

The user sets up a large playroom, be it a dollhouse, nursery, or something else. The room can be real or conjured.

The user sets up a puzzle for a target to take part in, like an escape room. The target works to solve the puzzle before time runs out. But the longer they stay in the room, and the more they interact with the objects within the room, the more the user's mind starts to change according to the user's trap.

In a colorful toyroom, the target may start to happily look at the colors and fondly remember memories of their childhood until their mind becomes more childlike. In a doll room, the user may gradually zone out more and more until they become empty and reactionless as if they were the user's toy.

Once time runs out, the targets mind changes in accordance to the user's preparations. Effects can last for set period of time. Permanently if matching conditions are set.

The You I See

Lightly based on songs by NF, this ability makes people see the best or the worst in themselves depending on the user's perception of them.

Prerequisites:

The user must experience and understand a person's traits whether positive or negative. A clear understanding of these traits, where they may have come from, and how they affect the target's life is required.

It doesn't have to be someone you've known for a long time. It can be as simple as meeting someone new who makes an uncomfortably familiar joke which causes you to understand that this person struggles with social interactions and probably has been dealing with this disposition for a while. Experience with mental health, psychology, or people makes usage of this ability more effective.

Fairy Shadows:

The user conjures a nen beast that small enough to float above the palm of the hand. If the user has a good impression of the target, the nen beast takes the form of a fairy, similar to something out of Zelda. If the user has a negative impression, the beast will take the form of a shadowy ghost.

The beast follows the target and can't be seen by them. The easiest way to get a beast to follow a target is with proximity. However, you can cause a fairy shadow to find a person from a long distance if the user and target know each other's first names, faces, and general location of residence. The user experiences a light constant aura cost until the beast reaches the target.

The beasts are sentient companions. The fairy's are kind and protective while the shadows are vindictive in a way that may come across as gleeful or stoic. Beasts may change their form, for instance, if a person betrays your trust, a fairy may become a shadow. Or if your hate turns to love then a shadow may become a fairy. If someone you love loses their way, it can still be a fairy that protects them.

Good & Bad Impressions:

When a fairy follows a person around, it helps them experience feelings of positivity, warmth, comfort, safety, confidence, and the like. The fairy also reminds a person of their most positives traits, especially when sleeping. The fairy can also stimulate increased health and healing.

When a shadow follows a person around, it causes them to experience increased negativity including feelings of anxiety, nightmares, self doubt, negative voices in their head, etc. The target becomes more and more faced with their negative traits and insecurities. Even traits the target doesn't realize they have so long as the user identified it. This essentially mental torture will likely cause the target to experience decline in both their mental and physical health. And make it harder to hide their negative traits. However, if the target becomes truly remorseful and changes for the better, the shadow is lifted.

The effects scale understanding as well as the love or hate the user feels for a person. A person the user doesn't understand well and thinks is okay, may feel more comfort. But a person the user has a deep love for will experience great warmth, love, and healing. A person the user hates will experience quicker and more powerful decline.

If the user has strong mixed feelings for a target, such as a lover whom they just broke up with that they love and don't want to hurt but want to show them the error of their ways, the user may conjure a nen beast that has mixed traits of fairy and shadow. Providing effects from both sides such as pointing at some negatives and some positives while trying to guide them down clarity and self understanding, as well as healing that prevents them from being pushed off the edge like a normal shadow is more likely to do.

Heart Burst:
The fairy shadows come with an ability where they can go inside of a target to cause them to experience a short burst of of aura that can cause them to feel the user's feelings for them, experience their own memories, have a deeper understanding of theirself, etc.

Fairylike Protection:
If a person followed by a fairy is faced with dire irreversible harm, a fairy can protect them by teleporting them away to a place the fairy identifies as a one of the target's safe spaces, or giving them temporary enhanced hysterical strength. The effect is at the cost of the fairy who will disappear and it will take some time before the user can conjure and bestow another one onto them.

Big Baby

A group of nen users take a toddler and tie different restrictions and conditions together for the purpose of enhancing them.

They tell the baby to "go play" while pointing at a target letting the baby know to have fun with a person. Only, the baby plays very rough due to their enhancement and will cause significant damage to the target. Imagine being beaten and tossed around by a baby.

The users can also tie conditions to make a sub hatsu where targets don't display damage when hit by the baby. So no splurging blood, just the damage and exhaustion.

Crystalysis

This can be an ability or existing object in Hunter x Hunter. Lightly inspired by Monster Hunter's concept of turning pure energy into crystals.

As an ability, this would take the form of touching or striking a target person or object in order to extract aura and turn it into crystals.

These crystals, being pure aura can provide people with a source of extra power, energy, etc. Greater things can be accomplished with a greater amount such as daily baths with crystals for added aura boost over time, or hibernating within a room of crystals.

Healing, enhancement, potency, exorcism, any nen based process can be boosted by these crystals. Each crystal of course has a limit to how much power it can give and greater sources of energy can lead to more powerful crystals such as the entirety of a person's life force, post-mortem nen, and the crystallization if aura from powerful beings such as the royal guard and meruem.

There is a sub ability where a crystal being embedded into someone can cause it to grow as it drains the person's aura over time. Eventually engulfing them if nothing is done.

Beast Hunt

The user is a beast hunter and survivalist who combines their ability with the concept of monster catching. This ability is inspired by games like monster hunter, pokemon, and palworld.

Pact With Beasts

As a prerequisite, the user conjures a permanent tattoo marking onto theirself. I personally imagine a tribal swirling pattern, but whatever mark identifies them as a hunter.

The user must form a bond with a creature they are taming, which can be done by feeding, raising, rescuing, training, etc.

The bond doesn't have to be a close human relationship. It can take different forms such as a falcon returning to a falconer they identify as a source of food, or beekeepers using pheromones to be accepted into a hive. The user has little to no control over when or if a beast bonds with them. But they can infer when a beast is ready by certain behaviors depending on the beast such cats bringing you socks, or turtles swimming eagerly to you.

When the user feels the beast is ready, they can project aura towards it. Similar to Zeno transporting Meruem, the aura must not contain malicious intent or else the creature might reject the offering. But if the creature accepts whatever is happening, then a conjured version of the user's mark will appear on them. Once this happens, the pact creating process is complete!

Beast Summoning and Return

The user can summon beasts they've tamed.

They focus emotion and a bit of aura into their mark in order to communicate need to a creature they intend to summon. The creature will perceive the intent in their own way such as a wolf gaining an understanding that one of their pack is in danger.

The creature is allowed to refuse the request, and the user is allowed to plead through their transmitted emotion. If accepted, the user can call upon or emit aura that is then transferred in exchange for the beast's arrival.

The aura cost for summoning increases with size and distance, however, if the user forms a deeper bond with a beast and touches their mark in order to lightly modify it (ex: adding a star or number above it), then the beast with the modified mark can be teleported to them from long distances with a significantly reduced aura cost. No more than 3 beasts may have this modified mark. But the user can change the slots around by first reverting an existing long distance mark to normal, and then modifying another beast's mark into a long distance one. Reverting and modifying both require touch. The user can summon other beasts from a long distance but with a higher aura cost.

After a beast is summoned, the user can teleport them "back." The user communicates directly or through their mark that the task is done and they'd like for the beast to be returned. If the beast accepts, the user can teleport the beast, however, they can only be transported to a safe location that the user has familiarized theirself with such as a "home" location. So they may not return to exactly where they came from. A beast that teleports back home is given a refresh period in which they can't be teleported again at least until they've gotten enough rest to balance the task they've helped fulfill.

Depending on the beast and the situation, the user can pre-negotiate a summoning time at least an hour in advance.

Naturally, the user does not have a limit on how many beasts can accompany them outside of teleportation.

Beastability

The user enhances a bonded beast's natural abilities be it biological or magical.

For example:

  1. An armadillo gaining the power to roll as an aura wind up and launching theirself like a canon ball. Their overall defensive abilities improve as well.

  2. A fox becoming incredibly almost invisibly swift with more powerful claws.

  3. The sleep inducing hypnotic butterflies from the hunter exam having enhanced hypnotic powers.

Creatures exposed to the user's abilities over time may awaken nen or nen principles on their own. Creatures that already know nen or a nen principle may have their abilities / applications enhanced.

Post-Mortem Bond

At times, after a beast with a deep enough connection dies, there's a chance that the beast's will via post mortem nen may take affect and either boost the user's overall enhancement or teleportation capabilities, or specifically boost the power of another beast that they've bonded with.

Remote Bomb: Pop

A simple hatsu where the user compresses aura, sends it into a target, and then snaps their finger to release it in the form of an explosive shockwave.

The power depends on the amount and potency of the aura.

Even small pops can help you break into locked things like doors or safes, blow up cars, irreparably harm someone, flick high speed projectiles, or other things you can do on a small scale without getting caught.

With Zetsu / In, you can hide a few mines. I imagine this would be good for an assassin or old time gangster, but it could also work well for someone with ambitions like Uvo who wanted to raise their aura output to match a high scale bomb.

How much do you need to know nen to tell if someone's powerful?

Killua went from thinking he can beat Netero, to knowing that Netero is very powerful.

But what level of nen mastery do you need to be at to know or sense that someone is strong just by looking at them. I imagine some novices, and even some higher level people blinded by arrogance may struggle with this.

But I also don't think you need a high level of mastery to be able to get a basic understanding. Like working out and then being able to identify a strong person just by their physical build and muscles.

How do you set a vow?

We've seen gon set his vow to attain his adult form. Strong emotion, activating nen, and setting a rule.

Kurapika probably went through something similar. But how about for average nen users? Do you think its the same for everyone?

What are more simple and more complex ways you can see nen users setting vows and conditions upon themselves?

Nen Effects vs Defenses.

Just wanted to hear your thoughts and theories on how to affect someone with your aura, and how to defend against certain affects.

We know having stronger nen defenses prevents you from taking damage specifically. But does that also apply to most if not all nen effects?

Ex: Knuckle activated his ability pretty easily against Gon and Youpi. If they had used higher nen defenses at the time, would it not have worked, or does the exponential boost from having a condition completely nullify most defenses they could have had so long Knuckle makes direct contact?

The same goes for Kurapika's chain jail. Uvo stood no chance against all of the harsh conditions that led to being able to pull off chain jail successfully. But if he had an unprecedented amount of nen (extreme example being above post-rose meruem), would he have been able to shrug off or break through the chain jail? Or would satisfying the conditions work regardless as a somewhat independent set of rules outside of just providing added potency.

This also isn't factoring things like elemental effects where regardless of your defense, killua seems to be able to shock and stun you.

Illumi vs stronger opponents, etc etc. What do you think?

Triple Point

This ability is based on the concept of triple point, or when something is a solid, liquid, and gas at the same.

Emission + Transmutation

Being encased in aura by the user's right hand makes you feel as if the inside and outside of your body has been dipped in warm water.

Being encased in aura by the user's left makes you feel as if the in and outside of your body has been dipped in cold water.

Overtime, so long as you are near the user, the experience intensifies and it won't be long before you're boiling, freezing, or both from the inside out.

The user can touch different parts of your body with one hand to make different parts feel hot or cold, but they must touch a part with both hands to make you freeze and boil.

The more they concentrate their aura before touching you, the more drastic the initial effect will be when touched. The first touch doesn't completely engulf you, the user can quickly and easily spread roughly the size of an average adult male's forearm with one touch. Of course if they touch an opponents head, the effects become the most dangerous.

This ability can be used for some every day practices such as cooking or destroying things.

The user has an ability called "bubble," where they concentrate a small bubble sized sphere of boiling or freezing aura, and place it inside of a target. Over time with proximity, the aura's potency increases until the user releases it and it explodes from inside of the target. This can also be used to make environmental objects explode at a target.

When exposed the air, if the user's hot and cold hatsu come into contact, it creates steam that the user can manipulate or use as a smokescreen.

Do You Think Meruem Get Post-Mortem Nen?

We know Meruem got a substantial power boost due to absorbing Youpi and Pouf.

However, he came so close to death after his fight with Netero that I wouldn't be surprised if he had an added post-mortem / very near death boost from nen. Especially with how drastically his aura increased.

Thoughts?

Violent Mood

When feeling in a malicious, angry, or violent mood, the user can summon weapons they're familiarized with. The weapon must be able to be held by one or both hands. (ex: hammers, stabby things, clubs, guns, rope, etc etc.)

The simplicity prevents the aura cost from being very high for any given object.

Your Funeral

The user conjures a floating coffin within a few feet of them. They verbally or mentally set a target, and if that person ends up in the coffin, the doors will shut and spikes will come out to skewer them from the inside.

Of course a foe with enough aura can avoid being murdered by the spikes themselves, however, the coffin can phase into the ground until it reaches 6 feet deep, in which case it will be stuck, and most targets won't be able to leave due to the ground blocking the door.

Once the target is dead in the coffin, nen preserves their body to prevent odors, then the user can release the coffin and leave the body.

The coffin only reacts in a hostile matter toward specific living beings and not the user unless otherwise specified. So the user and things they store can stay in coffins.

By leaving real objects behind a conjured door of a closet or small room, the user can summon those objects from within the coffin. They can even summon chains with programmed actions to grab and pull enemies into the coffin.

Clapping close to a target can cause a coffin to form around them.

How do you think hunter apprenticeships work?

Hunter's need a trainee in order to rank up.

Morel has Knuckle and Shoot, but they are beast hunters while he is a sea hunter.

So the question is, how do you think apprenticeships are structured? I'm sure it depends on the people involved, but is it hands-on daily tasks together, maybe virtual instructions and weekly meet ups, etc etc.

Also feel free to touch upon things like what you think the apprenticeships are meant to learn.

Dual category nen test?

You can have dual affinities. But how do you think that affects the divination test? I think its very possible to get two effects happen at the same time but only notice the stronger reaction. Such as enhancers making the water overflow but then the fact that its flavor changes due to transmutation goes unnoticed.

Or do you think an entirely new reaction happens, which can get mistaken for specialization.

Thoughts on making powerful armor?

I was thinking of what it would take to make an armor strong enough to withstand attacks from even the royal guard (at least for some time).

Then it made me remember very simple examples of times where their abilities were rendered useless. Specifically, Morel's smokey jail and shackle against Youpi, Pouf and Cheetu, as well as Youpi not being able to harm hakoware (yes, im aware of apr's conditions). It makes me wonder if making a high level armor is more simple than one would think.

What do you think it would take to create an armor strong enough to resist their attacks? How would you approach it? "Armor" can be whatever you want. Ex:

-Transmuted substance such as impact resistant water or metals.
-Conjured nen beast armor or shield.
-Raw defensive aura.
-etc.
