Is this a plot hole?

Why would Uvo think that Kurapika's chains were real, if he saw and felt them literaly increase in size?

Isn't that something that only a conjured object would be able to do? Or can you take a regular knife, infuse it with nen and make the blade grow longer and stronger?

I don't think that's the case. Am I trippin?

Beyond Netero’s legal red herring (spoilers 412)

Like many readers I struggled to parse the true meaning behind those last couple of pages of 412. Was this a typical Togashi tangent to trace out more world building? I mean surely it must have plot relevance, this is such an important character. Why would he paint Beyond as some sort of humanitarian, when we have so much evidence of depravity? He seems to regard human life as expendable and worthless, at least for his own children. Overall it’s pretty out of left field and we just probably won’t have the context to really parse out what’s going on until many chapters later.

Here’s my theory: the distinction about legal rights for people vs the royalty is the red herring. Who is the most important non-royal member of the Kakin public that would be affected by this? That’s right, it’s BEYOND NETERO himself! I think he’s trying to prepare for some situation where he’s in a legal battle against a prince or a member of Kakinease royalty. This could be related to some sort of custody or succession issue with his secret prince of a child.

If Hisoka was able to outsmart Chrollo in Yorknew that badly, it’s strong evidence that on the fly Hisoka would best Chrollo

Manipulating his fortune and tricking Chrollo into staying in Yorknew kinda proves that when its on the fly Hisoka can run circles around Chrollo.

These events led to Hisoka over estimating himself, and thus suffering the loss he did in heavens arena. But Hisoka knows he can beat Chrollo in a fair 1v1.

It’s also why Chrollo is so wary of Hisoka and is looking for an ability to beat him, 1 guy alone has caused that much damage to the troupe, and 2 direct deaths

Feitan’s Phantom Troupe Tattoo

I know in the anime Feitan’s tattoo is never shown and I’ve never read the manga before, and I was wondering if there was any kind of clue where is mark is on his body or if anybody has any kind of idea.

This scene absolutely destroyed me, It speaks volumes that a ruthless killing machine, born and programmed solely to protect the king, found the humanity to apologize and feel genuine remorse for one of the king's biggest threats

Any unpopular opinions about Killua Zoldyck?

Be honest with your post. He's a great character but there must be something that pisses you off about him.

How long do you think hxh can be if tagashi is healthy.

I think if Yoshihiro Togashi had remained healthy for his entire career, it's very plausible that Hunter × Hunter could have been as long as, or even longer than, One Piece. While there's no official chapter target, the scope of the story suggests it was designed to continue for many years.

Here's why:

The known world is only a tiny fraction of the setting. The human world exists around the edge of the vast Dark Continent, meaning readers have barely seen the full world. Exploring that continent alone could support hundreds of chapters.

Many major storylines remain unresolved. These include the Succession Contest, the Dark Continent expedition, Gyro's future, Gon's next journey, Killua's adventures with Alluka, Kurapika's mission, Leorio's growth as a Hunter, the Phantom Troupe, Beyond Netero, Pariston, and many other characters.

Togashi prefers deep, strategic storytelling. His arcs are packed with complex battles, politics, character development, and intricate Nen abilities. Even a single conflict can last dozens of chapters.

The Dark Continent has been described as vastly more dangerous than the human world. It contains unknown civilizations, powerful creatures, ancient ruins, and mysteries that could each become long story arcs.

If Togashi had been able to publish consistently every week without major health interruptions, a possible progression could have looked like this:

Current arcs: 400–600 chapters

Dark Continent exploration: 300–500 chapters

Gyro and post-Dark Continent conflicts: 200–400 chapters

Final world-scale storyline and conclusion: 200–400 chapters

That would put the series somewhere around 1,100–1,900 chapters, making it comparable to—or potentially longer than—One Piece.

Of course, this is speculation rather than a confirmed plan. Togashi has never announced a target chapter count. But based on the number of unresolved plotlines, the scale of the world, and his comments about having many more story ideas, it's reasonable to think that a healthy publication schedule could have allowed Hunter × Hunter to become one of the longest manga ever created.

Anime Dissertation Help!!!

Hello!

I’m currently completing my MSc dissertation at King’s College London and I’m looking for anime fans to complete my survey on how Japanese cultural elements in anime influence audience engagement.
It takes around 10 minutes, is completely anonymous, and every response genuinely helps my research.

Please help me out!

HxH has been my absolute favourite show for a while now and it was part of the reason why I wanted to do my dissertation on anime hehe

I was y’all’s input on anime’s global success and what its Japanese origins mean to you!

Probably the darkest page in the entire arc

I've been absolutely blown away for years by Togashi's ability of conveying emotions through facial expression no matter how good/bad the art style is. Even mere scratches and chaos can give off the vibe that Togashi wants to transfer to the reader. This page, took all of that to a whole new level. Not only did he drew an extremely detailed piece of meat with a slit in the middle, but the way he drew Borksen's resigned face is just incredible. At first she held onto hope that Morena can be "fixed", but the more Morena went on in her explanation the more defeated Borksen looked. She basically knew there was no way in trying to change Morena's mind. Not to mention that smile.... that smile on Morena's face while talking. It's like a calm smile that is hiding unbelievable amounts of hatred and pain and thoughts of revenge. Probably my fav Succession War panel next to Halkenburg's awakening.

Hxh characters based on real people

When I found out Canary wasn’t black and just based on a random idol i felt…sad :(

If there are more let me know, its always interesting to see where Togashi takes his inspo from

Love how harmless and unserious

The rest of the creators of Greed Island look. Especially Togashi self-insert character Dwun man. I bet using anime logic the strongest and meanest looking among the bunch which is Razor is actually the weakest among them or something.

Is it fair to say Kurapika is the mangas co-protagonist

Considering that he is the main character now and his plot point involves multiple important characters such as Hisoka, The Troupe and Zoldycks and HA members, would it be fair to say he along with Gon are the protags?

A test of the readers morality

Kurapika and chrollo's story isn't just evil vs good or about vengeance, their characters represent your moral compass depending on who you'd prefer or side with The phantom troupe slaughtered all 128 villagers, mutilated and tortured them to force their eyes to turn Scarlet, and ripped the eyes out of their corpses to sell on the black market. Children had to be mutilated in front of their loved ones so they experienced the deepest despair and sadness just so their eyes could turn scarlet, intensifying their emotions by hurting those most precious to them so they experience the same pain as they did when they were children and disregarded, a city made into a junk yard, orphans thrown there as nothing more than junk with no documents or official identities to humanize them, treated as toys for the rich and evil to commit their crimes, forced to see their own friend dismembered as children. Some might say the phantom troupes evil crimes can be justified, hurting the evil and corrupt just the way they did them-actions fueled by their own past forced upon them where one could say they don't know any better other than to give what they received. As for kurapika having vengeance put on his shoulder and burdened with grief, forced into hatred and the desire for revenge his entire life goal and nen ability is purely based on the phantom troupe, no way to live if justice hasn't been served to his people. Collecting their eyes and killing those who made them suffer is the only thing he's willing to live for and also willing to risk his own life span to have enough power to kill them

to choose one side is hard because you'd be disregarding one of them and have their life worth more than the other, ones story deeper and more painful even though both are forced to walk a path they didn't choose

EDIT: Maybe I didn't make myself clear enough in the post but my point was, kurapika has seen better, experienced better and received better so he can give those positive emotions back to others because he understands them and feels them, he's also experienced the bad side of the world and he knows how to give it back, but because he's had better he knows better, knowing better is to throw his rage at those who killed his people not others. And for the PT i was implying that they've never had the better of the world, they didn't receive kindness, forgiveness, love, acknowledgement and ect, the only thing they've ever had is torture, dehumanization, evil and so on, they don't know how to be like kurapika because they never had what kurapika did, both kurapika and the phantom troupe are giving the world what they received and what they experienced

( sorry for not making myself more clear in the original post but i never meant to justify their wrong actions and who's right or wrong, i just simply meant you can empathize with both of them and choosing one side while fully hating the other is not right )

Volume 16 Manga Error

I was collecting the 3in1 editions up until volume 15, when I switched to buying the individual volumes. The very first one I read today (volume 16) already has an error starting from chapter 160. It suddenly jumped back to chapter 124…
I’ll probably wait for the 3in1s to be released from now on.

Man it pisses me off they used the Phantom Troupe’s requiem song for Genthru

Honestly just a mindless rant, probably a futile one too, but I disliked that they used the same song that was used for Chrollo and the troupe’s requiem for Uvogin’s death for Genthru’s fight against Gon.

It felt like a cheap way to elevate the situation’s intensity, but it was already good enough, to me it just devalued the insane bloodbath requiem scene. I just feel like Genthru isn’t worth all that you know? I just kind of wanted it to remain the special song for that one very special scene.

Meaningless rant over

Leorio is weak only if you think kindness is weak

Leorio is the healthiest person in HxH. Everyone else wants something extreme: revenge, battle, adventure, domination, identity, transcendence.
Leorio wants to become a doctor because people die when they are poor.
That sounds simple, but in HxH, basic human decency is almost radical.
