Trinity College Dublin vs DCU for postgraduate study?

Hi everyone, I’m an EU student choosing between two offers:

Trinity College Dublin — International Peace Studies
DCU — International Security and Conflict Studies

I’m interested in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, WPS, human rights, international organisations and security policy.

How are Trinity and DCU perceived in Ireland/internationally?
Does Trinity’s reputation make a big difference for jobs?
Is DCU more practical and employability-focused?
Which would you choose for this field? Because I feel like although trinity is more well perceived internationally but DCU is more practical.

Any honest advice from students/alumni would be really appreciated.

MPhil in International Peace Studies at Trinity College Dublin

Hi everyone,

I recently received a conditional offer for the MPhil in International Peace Studies at Trinity College Dublin, and I’m trying to learn more about the programme before making my final decision.

I’m especially interested in peacebuilding, Women, Peace and Security, human rights, post-conflict reconstruction, displacement, UN-related work, NGOs and international organisations.

I would really appreciate hearing from current students or alumni. How was your experience on the course? Were the modules interesting and up to date? Did you find the programme practical or mostly theoretical? How was the support from the department, and did the degree help with internships or job opportunities afterwards?

I’m also curious about student life at Trinity and whether the overall experience is worth it, considering the cost of living in Dublin.

Any honest advice would be very helpful. Thank you!
