Plastics in Laundry Detergent

https://chemtrust.org/cleaning-products/

Polyvinyl Alcohol (also known as PVOH) is commonly used in laundry detergent pods and sheets because it dissolves in water. But “dissolves” doesn’t mean disappears. In fact, studies show that PVA doesn’t fully break down in the environment, especially in cold water or low-efficiency wash cycles. Instead, it contributes to microplastic pollution in our waterways, harming marine life and entering the human food chain.

Pram covers reduce traffic dust exposure

Highlights

In-pram babies are exposed up to 44% higher fine particle concentrations than adults.

Variability between morning and afternoon concentrations was up to ~60% (PNC), 7% (PM1) and 8% (PM2.5).

Bottom seat of double pram showed up to 72% greater PNC compared to top seat.

Pram covers reduced fine and coarse particles by up to 39% and 43%, respectively.

SEM/EDS analysis revealed dominance of brake/tyre wear emissions at baby height.

Strollers and traffic dust

Has anyone stopped using strollers in the city because of the microplastics and toxins in traffic dust? I use an air quality app and PM2 particulate matter is bad near me especially on non windy days. I rarely use a stroller except in green spaces or out of town.
