QUT Law - 1st year paralegal role
How do law students actually get paralegal roles/jobs while studying full time?
I’m a first-year law student and I’m genuinely confused about how people manage to land paralegal roles while keeping up with law school.
I finished my first semester with a 6.33 GPA, so my grades are strong, but I’m questioning any ability I have to both study law and work as a paralegal, as I hear that paralegal roles require around 3-5 days availability. Between lectures, tutorials, readings, assignments, and studying for several hours most days, I honestly don’t know how that’s possible.
Do firms expect students to cut back on study time? Or are most people working only during semester breaks and then reducing their hours during the semester?
Also what’s the best way to land a paralegal role as a 1st year?
