Failed Class MXB161

hey guys, update on a previous post.

i havent heard from my unit coordinator yet but im pretty sure i see what has happened. i wasnt able to attend all group workshops and believe my marks for this section may have been removed from my final marks.

is there any leniency in attendance? i recognise that i obviously should have been attended, but i only feel like i should argue as in our online workshops i would only realistically be contributing with one other student while the other students sat idly in the call doing nothing to contribute, yet they get the credit.

lesson in the future is obviously attend classes, but is there realistically anything i can do now?

What kind of GPA consider "good"?

Hello!I am doing Diploma of engineering this year and as first semester result came out I got 5.75/7.00.

The thing is I have no idea does it consider good or ok or bad? No intention to show off btw.

studying while working full time?

Hey all, graduated with a degree in IT and business as a double. Got into big 4 and think I'd benefit from accounting/finance degree too (did IB major).

Does anyone have experience studying while working full time and how hard was it? Id only need to do 8 units to meet the requirements of the finance degree so looking 1 yr full time 2 yr part time.

GPA and Engineering Internship Help!! Paranoid asf

Hey guys, how is everyone doing with Sem 1 ending and grade release?

I’m a 3rd year mechanical engineering and computer science student. I’m making this post because I’m a bit paranoid about finding an internship, as my GPA is currently 4.22. I’m honestly pretty worried about finding an engineering internship because I know it can be hard to land one.

I’ve failed 3 subjects before and I’m a bit delayed in my course, but I recently realised GPA is cumulative over the years and not semester-based. I have slowly been pulling my GPA up after years of slacking and just passing, but yeah, I’m trying to take it more seriously now and have aimed higher.

Does anybody have any tips for finding internships or placement? I’m planning to work on some projects over the semester, but any other advice would be greatly appreciated from fellow engineering students or anyone experienced with this.

Kind regards.

QUT Law - 1st year paralegal role

How do law students actually get paralegal roles/jobs while studying full time?

I’m a first-year law student and I’m genuinely confused about how people manage to land paralegal roles while keeping up with law school.
I finished my first semester with a 6.33 GPA, so my grades are strong, but I’m questioning any ability I have to both study law and work as a paralegal, as I hear that paralegal roles require around 3-5 days availability. Between lectures, tutorials, readings, assignments, and studying for several hours most days, I honestly don’t know how that’s possible.
Do firms expect students to cut back on study time? Or are most people working only during semester breaks and then reducing their hours during the semester?

Also what’s the best way to land a paralegal role as a 1st year?

Looking for new food options on Campus

Hi all, I'm getting tired of visiting the same old Origin Kebabs or the Banh Mi shop in Z block at Gardens Point, any other recommendations for unique food to try on GP campus or its surrounds for next sem?

Got 47 and no supplemntary assesment what to do ?

Hey guys, just got a final grade of 47 for machine learning core unit. The assignment 2 report mark was incredibly low compared to my internal marks (which were great), and I got hit with a heavy presentation penalty. I'm an international student and this unit is a strict prerequisite, so repeating it delays my degree by 6 months. HiQ says I'm not eligible for a central supplementary exam because of the 48-credit-point rule. Has anyone ever successfully done an informal review with a coordinator or used the Guild Advocates to get a manual concession for a 47? Need some hope

confusion with enrolling in units as a 1st year international student

Hi everyone, I'm enrolling for my course which starts in the second intake (July) but the past week, I've been confused by this entire system. I understood the course structure part but when it comes to opening my study plan and organizing units, I encounter issues like being unable to find my major subjects or finding "essential" units in minor options (am I supposed to still pick them or expect them in my future semesters?) It's my first time working with this so it's completely new to me.

Are there any foreign students who had to navigate this themselves whom could help shed some light on the entire process? I'd appreciate it. It'd have been great if I could sort this out in QUT itself once I reach Brisbane, but I've read you're supposed to enroll in your units before you come so I really don't know. I'm just so lost, so I'd really love any advice that could help. Thank you

Didn’t get my exam marks back but got the final grade?

I’m like having a hard time trying to understand because the final grade is a bit too good to be true lmao.

Did anyone else not get their exam marks yet? I was on edge today constantly checking my emails for updates and nothing popped up. But for some reason the final grade for the unit popped up on my QUT app. It also said I completed the same amount of credit points I enrolled in at the beginning of the semester. Does the final grade include the exam marks that haven’t shown up for me yet or is it bugged? I’m confused.

Still haven't got my assignment results back on 2 classes and can't see my exam score.

Is this normal? I can see my gpa, but I still haven't had my assignment for systems design graded yet, and one for IT computer systems. Nor can I see my score for either of my 2 exams. Shouldn't all my last assignment and exams be graded and available to review by now?

How does the Master of Philosophy work?

Hi everyone,
Can someone explain how an MPhil works? I'm trying to understand how it's different from or related to a PhD, and how industry-supervised research fits into it.
I'm also curious about the day-to-day side of things:
Do you usually work alone or as part of a research team?
How often do you meet with your supervisor?
What's the overall process like from start to finish?
What are the career opportunities after completing an MPhil?
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's done one or is currently studying. Thanks!

Gonna start IF80 course

I’ve failed a unit because my exam hasn’t been marked.

I know what’s happened. I did an exam at an external examination room in Toowoomba UniSQ. The marks I was sitting on was 39 out of 40 before the exam. And I’ve gotten 39 and failed the whole unit?? Clearly the exam I sat hasn’t been marked and attributed to me!!! What do I do! It’s 12:28am right now so I can’t call HIQ! Please someone tell me it’ll be fine! I’m freaking out!

Confused

I just received this email. Two of my assessments has not yet been graded for two subjects. And I had deferred another two exams. Is it because I deferred that I received this email ?

How to restructure course plan after failing?

I failed a unit that's only offered in semester 1 and is a prerequisite for another unit, which is a prerequisite for the next unit, etc. I'll have to unenroll from one of my subjects for next semester, and restructure my course plan. But with how many prerequisites there are, i'm having a hard time trying to map out what subjects to take next semester.

Who do I contact to help me with this? Do I call HiQ, is there a form to submit, or do I contact someone from the Engineering faculty directly?

I've never failed anything before, so i'm not sure what the process is or if I can get it done before semester 2 starts. Any help would be appreciated.

BSB250

My final grade for this subject is displaying as Unfinalised Grade and it’s killing me! I can’t see my exam mark on Canvas either which I know isn’t unusual but it’s not displaying on anywhere else either. I have only this mark between me and freedom from this cursed university and they’re dragging it out 😭 anyone else have this grade or studying this subject?

Do you guys think this is worth it as i’m only 1.5-2 marks away from passing and any advice would be appreciated. I’ve honestly been juggling a lot this semester as my family has been financially struggling with a break and enter and then also placement. Thanks guys.
