UoE Halls v Private Accom ||Postrgad
Hi everyone, I’m an incoming Master’s student at the University of Edinburgh and have been allotted O’Shea North. I’m currently deciding between staying there or choosing a private accommodation with better facilities and overall comfort. The main thing keeping me inclined towards university accommodation is the sense of belonging, community, and networking with fellow UoE students, especially as a postgraduate student new to the city.
I wanted to ask people who’ve stayed at O’Shea or other UoE halls if the social/residence life events and community aspect are genuinely active and meaningful in practice, or if it is more something that sounds better on paper than it actually is.
