Time of day dosing T Cyp IM

Hi, I am switching my dose from weekly to bi weekly and I was wondering if anyone has had any problems taking a dose in the evening. If I try to take it evenly spaced apart through the week, one evening dose makes sense.

But I don’t want to take it and have it make me wired or up all night. My clinic gives me pre-filled needles that are coupled with a dose of Vitamin B. I don’t have any problems sleeping currently and I take progesterone and trazadone at night.

I don’t notice feeling wired when I take the dose during the day.

I’m taking 9mg 2x a week, IM T Cyp.

Side note: I wonder if it might be useful for the mods to make and pin a “no stupid questions” thread for stuff like this so we can ask simple questions that might not require their own post. I searched the sub for this question with no luck.

Question for ladies who gym and play sports

Greetings. I recently started TRT. I just turned 46. (Also taking P but not E right now.) Taking 18 mg T Cyp per week, one weekly injection IM. I have been on it for two full weeks and got my third shot yesterday. I'm aware that I have yet to feel the full effects of it.

One of the primary (but not only) reasons I decided to go this route is because I have been having trouble with my fitness recovery.

I lift weights and I play ice hockey, and both are important to me and my quality of life. Last season I played in three hockey leagues (so 3x a week) and I lift weights 4x a week (U/L split). For summer season, I dropped to two leagues to better manage recovery. I schedule leg days after hockey, and give myself a minimum of 48 hours (two nights of sleep) in between leg day and a game. It's only leg day that gives me trouble with recovery but I try not to do upper on the exact same day as a game.

The first weekend after I had my first dose (Thursday) I played a hockey tournament and it very much could have been placebo effect but I played better than I usually do. Not faster, I just felt more coordinated. I was making better contact with the puck etc.

Last week, I had my Thursday shot, played a game Thursday night and did my leg exercises on Friday. I felt great and didn't notice any recovery issues the next day.

This week, I played hockey Monday, did a leg day Tuesday and recovery was pretty rough. Granted, I did back squats which are always harder on recovery for me than other leg exercises. I had my shot yesterday and last night night I played hockey and I just was NOT recovered enough to play well. I felt like I had no gas in the tank. Today I am still a bit sore and have decided to forego my regularly scheduled leg day.

For the record, the other factors that affect recovery are good: I sleep 8 hours a night mostly uninterrupted, I eat well and get enough protein, I take creatine and a multi vitamin.

Questions:

  • For those who have been on T longer, does this start to get better after I get farther into treatment? Is two weeks just not long enough to feel a benefit here?

  • Is this a problem of the T wearing off by the end of the week? It seems most women here split T cyp into two doses per week.

  • Anything else you want to add?

I do feel pretty good otherwise, but nothing mind blowing. Gym is good and I have had some PRs, which is nice. There may be stirrings of long lost libido but not sure on that yet.
