Are we screwed?
So here's the timeline:
- Wife gets about 900 ESPP shares from employer from about 2003 to 2009. E-Trade was the company's brokerage at the time
- At some point (let's call it 2010 for sake of argument) employer changed brokerage to Fidelity. When they transferred everything over, E-Trade did not report the cost basis of the shares. Just found this out.
I sincerely doubt we have any of the paperwork from back then.
Any thoughts on how helpful ETrade is gonna be on this?
