Shortage of late night cafes

I love SF, but am floored by the lack of cafes open past 6pm. So many cities around the world have a vibrant scene of places to work, hang out, have a drink, etc well into the night. SF on this front feels downright suburban.

I’m in the Mission, so maybe there are great options in other areas?

Thanksgiving in Hawaii with kids

Hi all! We are hoping to spend thanksgiving week in Hawaii with our 11 and 9 year old kids, but are pretty lost with so many options.

We are considering Ritz Turtle Bay, FS / andaz / grand wailea, and perhaps FS Hualalai.

Might folks with experience have tips on choosing between these (or other places we should consider) for the holiday season?

Thanks!

The Double Cross Trail is a 10/10

Learned about the Double Cross here about a year ago and have been wanting to try it ever since. Finally got the chance yesterday and it did not disappoint!

From Fort Funston to Pier 23, it takes you through lots of iconic city spots. But my favorite part is all the surprise gems: little staircases, alleys, and winding paths hiding in plain site.

Thank you to the wonderful folks who maintain crosstowntrail.org. Their maps and resources made the whole day smooth. The walk was about 4.5h for me, approximately 14 miles. It’s hard (so many stairs!) but worth every step.

I’ve lived here for 14 years but feel as though I know the city better now. IMO one of the most beautiful places on earth.
