Why don't I hear more about VOC air purifiers? They seem perfect for resin printing!

Every time there's discussion about resin fumes the threads are filled with the same advice: grow tent, extractor fan & duct, ventilation, ventilation, ventilation. All of that is fantastic advice that will definitely get the job done, but its all so much more complicated than just running an air purifier.

Why isn't there more talk about air purifiers? As long as its rated to filter VOCs an air purifier will take care of all the airborne resin unpleasantness. All it requires is a bit of space next to your printer, and a power outlet. No open window or ventilation required! And it costs less than a grow tent setup!

For my setup the purifier sits between my printer and curing station, and its been operating flawlessly in my storage room for months now. I've forgotten what the scent of resin even smells like, despite running through multiple bottles of resin over the course of that time. It feels like a flawless setup to me.

Why aren't VOC capable air purifiers standard issue in resin printing, why is the community reflex always towards tents and ventilating the fumes out an open window?

Discipline - the least sexy of the four virtues, but a crucial one

A little bit of imperfection on the L, but otherwise I'm very happy with this one.

Tubular, dude.

This one ended up a bit off-center, but everything else came out great!

Adapting blackletter fonts into scripts

A bit of storytime for context:

Before calligraphy I had experience with drawing, where a lot of self-study is through reference pictures. So when I began calligraphy I just knew that I wanted to learn how to do cool blackletter pieces, googled the tools required, and then went looking for reference pictures to learn from and reverse-engineer for myself. Searched for 'Blackletter fonts' to find one that I wanted to practice, and settled on this one because I liked that there was flair without sacrificing too much readability. Once I got the hang of the parallel it wasn't too hard to figure out where the pen strokes needed to go in order to match those letters, and after that it was just a matter of a steady hand. At that point I didn't even realize I was doing calligraphy, which I thought was done exclusively with brushes.

Most of a year later, I've learned a lot - including the difference between fonts and scripts. I see a lot of reference to the main 4 blackletter scripts, without much else being named. Meanwhile there's a plethora of digital blackletter fonts that clearly draw from those classic scripts while having their own distinctive looks, but from observation it feels like those two worlds are totally separate.

Am I practicing some sort of calligraphic heresy by referencing a digital font as my exemplar? Is there a reason why I don't see this done, like ingraining bad habits I'm unaware of?

Courage.

Looking at it now, I wish I'd made the C wider than it is.

Ah well, imperfections get resolved through time and practice! Future Cs will be better.
