Review: Imperial Spa Las Vegas

Was in Vegas a couple of weeks ago and decided to try Imperial Spa. Imperial Spa is about 3 miles north/northeast from “The Strip” and about 2 miles south/southeast from Freemont Street so it’s probably not a place most tourists would find. For reference I am a late 30s male and will make some references to my body. Nothing too graphic.

I scheduled a massage and body scrub online and received a reminder call the morning of to be there 30 minutes before my service started to make sure I had time to soak before the scrub. I appreciated this as I probably would have shown up 10 minutes before.

When I arrived I was informed the warm tub was not working due to an issue with the motor. I was told it had been worked on that morning and it had just started again but would take 1-2 hours for it to warm up. I was also informed the snack bar was closed that day.

I was asked if I had been there before and although I had been to Kspas before, not this one specifically so a very nice older gentleman( manager? Owner?) offered to give me a tour and walk me through the process. I was given a robe, uniform and a towel.

After the gentleman gave me the tour, I changed out of my clothes and showered. I then went into the sauna for about 10 minutes, then the steam room for 5 and the second steam room for another 5. The steam room closest to the dry sauna seems to be less intense than the one further away.

I tried the cold tub but it was waay too cold so I did the steam room a little longer. Afterward I drank some water and then my number was called for the body scrub. I went into a room with a guy named Joe and I laid on the table and began the scrub. There is a curtain in the room that blocks the scrub area so if someone should happen to accidentally walk in you’d be protected. I laid on my belly first and was bathed with warm water which was the perfect temperature, soap was applied and I was scrubbed. This was tremendously relaxing. Throughout Joe kept checking in to see it things felt okay and if the water temperature was right. The scrub was nice and firm but not too intense. After a while I was asked to turn face up. The process was similar with the exception that my genitals were covered with a towel.

I was also given a mask and cream was applied to my face. I loved the light scent of this cream and the feeling it gave my face. An additional mask or face paper? was applied on my face it it sat while my legs, feet, belly and chest were soaped up then scrubbed.

One of the things that made me nervous was since this was my first time having a scrub I had read the scrub is so intense and so thorough at some places they scrub between your buttocks and your scrotum. This was not the case at all here.

After what seemed like 10 minutes the mask was removed and the cream washed off. I was then dried off and we walked to a hall with doors which were massage rooms. The massage went for about 30 minutes but the pressure was right. One thing I did not like was that after you are scrubbed then you go to the massage room where you are massaged with oil, it just seemed counterproductive to have a thorough bath and then have oil put on you.

After the massage Joe walked me back to the lockers and handed me an envelope in case I wanted to leave a tip. I was wrapped in a towel and said I could go to the clay room which is in the men’s area and sit for a few minutes so the oil could wash off easier.

As I walked to the clay room I saw that it is policy to wear your uniform in there so I went back to put on my uniform. I asked a gentleman in the area if he had used it and if I was indeed supposed to wear a uniform because the massage therapist had made it seem like I could just walk in there. He said they encourage people to especially in that area because it was getting cruisy in there.

So I did as told, showered then did the steam room, and sauna again, showered, dressed and left.

Overall it was an enjoyable experience. This is not a pretentious place so if your comparison is a spa on the strip, this is not that. It is clean but more simple.

I didn’t like the oil after the scrub or the unclear instructions on the hot clay room. Some reviews online said this was very cruisy but I did not get that impression at all and staff would come through from time to time. I went midweek at 2 in the afternoon so it was slow maybe 4 other people at any one time in the men’s area.

You also have the option if wearing shorts so it is not required you go nude like in other Kspas.

I would go again just temper your expectations.

Review of Qua Spa in Las Vegas

Recently was in Vegas for a conference. Went to Qua Spa and enjoyed. It is $140 for a non hotel guest and as far as I could tell there was no time limit. They do close at 6pm and I arrived around 3:00 pm.

I was given a tour and a key on a wrist band. I was also given a pair of slide sandals and inside the locker was a bathrobe. I found the slides a bit too small. I’m a size 12 and the bathrobe is a towel like material on the inside and then a smooth cotton material on the outside.

The Roman baths area which is a cold pool, warm pool and hot tub with the infinity rain shower becomes co-ed at 4 pm so you must be clothed at that time. They do have disposable shorts if you need some.

I began by going into the steam room which is huge. It does get pretty foggy so you think you’re going somewhere where there is no one sitting and then come upon 2-3 guys sitting there so you have to move around to find a spot, not a huge deal though. After a few minutes in there I went to the dry sauna and it just did not feel as hot tbh. After a few minutes in there I went to the “ice room” and it was good. Then went to the pool on the men’s side and sat in there for about 15 minutes. Finally went to the roman baths side which is down the hall and did all 3. The cold tub was waaaaay cold as was the infinity shower.

In the warm tub I sat for a little but and did notice some cruisy behavior. A guy went over to another guy and began rubbing said guy’s leg and began whispering in his ear so I got out. I’m not a prude but sometimes I just want to relax without worrying about unintentionally “c*ckblocking someone.” I repeated the cycle about 5-6 times and it was nice to workup a good sweat and cool down.

I did chat with some of the guys but it was mainly a quiet environment.

The original guy and another 2 guys who were a couple(I assume) were there for
Cruising as one time I went in the ice room and I had closed my eyes and when I opened them one of them was having oral performed on him as his partner watched. I got out and those were the only 2 times I witnessed outright cruisy behavior. A few more times you do see people glancing your direction and such but it’s hard to tell what the intentions are. The cruisers were very daring because between the attendants giving tours to first-timers and the attendant that roams and stocks supplies I can’t see how anyone would “finish an act.”

Now, about 10% of the guys would walk nude from place to place, another 60% had no issues being nude in the tubs or saunas but would at least wrap a towel around themselves to walk from place to place.
About 30% were guys with shorts.

They also have a lounge with lounge chairs and a television as well as tea, water and snacks. There are plenty of towels and plenty of water everywhere though. The showers are huge and fully stocked. They have hair gel, mouthwash, deodorant, mousse, lotion, qtips, shave gel, and upon request toothbrushes and toothpaste. You could just shower there and have everything you need for your next vegas activity.

It’s a little pricey but I’d go back. Did not try any of their massages or services but talk about being overpriced haha.

Loner at ST2LV

You all I have enjoyed the conference though I find it overwhelming at times. I have met some of my childhood heroes but I have not made any friends.

Is there anyone else who is also alone and wouldn’t mind enjoying the convention the last 1.5 days with someone?

I am a 40 y/o male. Love DS9, TNG, tennis, running. Staying across the street at the Wyndham. It had been a dream of mine to attend since growing up I was often teased and even though there are thousands of trekkies, it’s been lonely.
