2 Great Forgotten Ska Bands

Around 2000-2002ish I was downloading any ska I could find from Napster. That’s around when I found Heavy Step and the Parka Kings.

I know the Parka Kings were on Jump up records and that’s why you can’t find them on Spotify like all the other great bands from jump up.

Heavy Step all I know is they were from Indiana and the singer joined deals gone bad after heavy step.

I still love both bands but I have to bust out my CDs or mp3s to listen. You can’t find find them on YouTube of course and I highly recommend you check them out if you haven’t heard them.

Milwaukee’s lasagna options

We walked over to Nessun Dorma in Riverwest tonight for dinner. We haven’t been there in a few years. To our surprise and delight, Saturday is lasagna night. So of course we tried both the beef and mushroom versions. We really enjoyed them and I must admit I haven’t had lasagna from a restaurant for as long as I can remember and I’m 50 years old. So now I’m wondering where else can I get some lasagna in town? I’m hoping to hear some recommendations and descriptions of the dish from your favorite places. Thanks!

Riverwest Cursed Building?

1000 E. Locust, how many different restaurants have opened and closed here? Every year when I go to locust street fest it seems like it’s a different restaurant. I could remember there being a pizza place called JAX, and I recall there being a Thai restaurant. So I checked the old Google Maps pictures and here are the names they had. Can you guys remember any more?

2025: Raul’s Taco Shop
2019: Thai Lotus
2016: Tuk’s Thai Kitchen
2015: Tuk’s Thai Kitchen
2014: Tuk’s Thai Kitchen
2011: Milano
2009: Luna Pizza
2007: JAX
