IFC Astigmatism Inquiry

I am a reserve UPT select. For IFC1, is an astigmatism of 3.75 even waiverable? Or would LASIK/PRK be the only viable option?

I got an astigmatism from MEPS (to commission), and I doubt WP would let me come out if I were an automatic DQ...

What happens after IFC DQ?

Suppose you get disqualified for a condition, such as a prescription being too strong. Are you totally screwed for any future IFC attempts? Or if you do the surgery/join the military will they give you another chance?

IFC Waiver Inquiry

Hey Everyone,

Not looking for medical advice, but based on your experience, how likely am I to pass my IFC 1? I believe my prescription is outside of waiverable standards. My prescription is:

  • Right Eye
    • Sphere: +5.25
    • Cylinder: -4.00
  • Left Eye
    • Sphere: +5.00
    • Cylinder: -3.25

It looks like I am outside the waiverable standards, but why would I be approved to attend Wright-Patt and receive a commission waiver for my astigmatism if that were the case?
