Returning player, seeking suggestions for an 'evil-to-good' GD run

I'll try not to make this too long (he says, as usual :y )

--------

Back in late 2023, I picked up WOTR and did a full playthrough of it, and I enjoyed it immensely. (I was a little worn out by the end, but that's what happens when you spend 200+ hours binging a whole-ass CRPG lmao)

Anyway, when I finished my first run, part of me was interested in having a second go as an "evil to good" Gold Dragon character. I'd seen that the GD content at the time was rather underwhelming, but the idea of shifting alignments like that was extremely appealing from an RP point-of-view.

(actual spoiler warning if you haven't beaten the game yet) >!Especially since I'd prolly approach it from the angle of "Areelu's brainwashing sloooowly wearing off, allowing the KC's original nature to re-emerge" or somesuch!<.

Now that I'm a few years removed from my original playthrough (and the game's had a bunch of extra content updates), I'm finding myself in the mood to revisit WOTR. So I wanted to poke my head in and ask what people would recommend for that sort of character concept - either mechanically, RP-wise, or both.

--------

For reference's sake, my old playthrough was a Demonslayer Azata wielding ECBs. Not very optimal, perhaps, but the novelty of "dex-based 2-hander" was completely worth it. I like that sort of thing. :p

I did need some initial pointers/advice to get the ball rolling - complex systems like this overwhelm me really easily, unfortunately. But by the end, it was a fairly straightforward melee ranger build.

That said, I feel like it didn't come 101% online til the very end. I found some crit+ item in the final dungeon that paired well with the invis-on-kill cloak, I think? So I basically spent the last stretch of the game gibbing people and renewing the invis over and over.

(Also my main party was Seelah, Lann, Daeran, Nenio, and Arue.)

--------

For this new "redemption GD" character, I think I'd like to roll either a gish or a full-on magic user. I've heard that blasters are a good fit for GD due to its bonuses, and since I already played a melee-centric character previously, leaning more into wizardry seems like a good idea to keep things fresh.

My biggest concern is how much micromanagement would be involved. Given the drastic changes in alignment, certain classes or class/MP combos seem like a no-go. Hellknight Signifer seems really cool (again, I value novelty, and "heavy armor caster" is a novel concept), but the Lawful restriction would clash with a Demon MP. So on and so forth.

Basically it, feels like I'd need to decide my entire build beforehand, and that's what I really need advice with.

(I know I could always just outright respec or use ToyBox to gradually "de-evil-ify" my character, but I'd rather that be a last resort. At that point I may as well just follow a build guide, y'know? :U )
