Any other sound designers working remotely in a hot country?

Something I struggle with every year, working from my personal mini-home studio during the summer in a hot country - how do you guys keep your rooms cool?

I always end up paying crazy electricity bills because I have to run the AC, and tower fans are too loud whenever I'm doing design work.

Anyone found a solution that is both quiet and relatively economical?

Split with fiancée yesterday - lost and scared

I've been with her for 8 years, I'm 36M. We live in a different country, so I dont have my friends or family here. She has her parents and sister living here. We have a dog who I absolutely love - the thought of leaving him is so painful.

I work remotely from the apartment which she owns. We share a car. She's been the center of my world for 8 years, and we worked remotely together all through covid so I have been with her almost 24/7 since then.

I'm completely shattered, alone and scared. We are amicable, there was no huge argument - in fact, we both understand that the spark in the relationship has fizzled out. She said I can stay in the apartment for now until I get on my feet and find somewhere else.

We slept in the same bed last night like we always do, with thd dog snuggled between us. I'm heartbroken that my little family that I saw a future with has been torn apart.

I'm so scared of the world without her in it. I'm scared of starting again without my friends or family here, but I really don't want to leave this city and my dog behind.

▲ 3 r/Saros

Really loving Saros so far overall but I feel like I suck at the combat! I played and beat Returnal and was able to find a flow state with the combat there, but something about Saros is making me feel flustered and clunky in combat - I think mostly because of the shield bubble mechanic.

Anyone else finding it difficult to settle into the combat? Did it start to feel more natural later in the game?
