Stopping breastfeeding / hormones / returning period

Any advice or similar experiences welcome.

My baby is 6 months old and has been combi-fed since birth, more breast at the beginning but in recent weeks is now only being breastfed during the night/morning. This works for us and has been a natural transition. I do enjoy this and I would be happy to continue this way (although I imagine my supply will reduce given this infrequency?)

So, I got a period around 4.5 months, then another this week. A 41 day cycle, which is irregular but I understand that’s normal given the above.

I feel like I am struggling a lot with hormonal shifts - mood swings, low mood, anxiety. In a way I haven’t before.

And finally, we would ideally like to be able to conceive again before the end of the year.

SO my question is - will stopping breastfeeding help to balance my hormones, improve my mood, and help to make my ovulation/cycle more regular?

Advice for grandparents comments

My baby is 5 months old and is general a pretty chill, happy, smiley baby. We visit my parents house once a week and spend most of the day there. As the baby’s gotten older, I’ve noticed it takes him a little longer to adjust to new surroundings/people - although it’s really not that bad. He just takes a look around, takes a wee while to warm up to smiling etc. Not an issue in my opinion. Alongside this, my mum (who had lots of experience with babies/grand children and who loves babies and is very good with them) makes comments such as “oh I don’t think the baby likes me anymore”, “I think he’s happier with his mum”, “oh he notices that he’s somewhere new”, “I don’t want to upset him”.

This is really annoying me!

I somehow now feel reasonable for a) the reactions of my baby (which I can’t control) and b) my mums feelings. why is this annoying me so much, and what can I do? I don’t want to make a big deal or have a big talk about it. Maybe I just need some solidarity lol I feel like saying - leave the baby alone and just let him feel how he feels without taking it personally or trying to analyse him?!

Tommee tippee FlexiPen Digital Thermometer

Is it just me, or does anyone else find this thermometer useless? Please let me know if I am going wrong somewhere.

My baby is 5 months old.

It seems to take ages to get a reading! Then it says the temperature is high and flashes red, when the reading is 35 degrees.

It says the mouth is the best place to get a reading - but the mouth should remain closed for 5 mins before taking a reading - how is that possible with a baby?! Yes if they are asleep…but if you’re worried about a high temperature they’re likely awake.

Then the other option is armpit - not exactly practical (but better) - yet this seems to take about a minute to show? Surely again impractical for a baby.

I have looked online for negative reviews of this product, as surely I am not the only one, but can’t find any! Maybe it’s just me… but it’s so frustrating, especially when a high temperature situation is stressful enough without a tricky device!

High chair recommendations

Hello, looking for high chair recommendations please. It’ll be the baby’s first high chair. I want something that is comfortable for the baby. A lot of the popular ones have a low back, should it have a high back so that baby is more comfortable?

Is it normal to have to change baby’s bib like 10 times per day? He’s four months, teething/dribbling and with general spit up - I am changing his bibs constantly as they’re soaking wet. Are all bibs created equally, or are there products out there (in the UK) that are just better?? I am using regular bibs with plastic on the back.
