In a lot of official art for Spy X Family, it usually involves Loid in his spy gear and Yor in her assassin gear, and they’re always facing each other’s backs.

We know that in both Loid and Yor’s professions, it’s incredibly dangerous to trust anyone as their jobs constantly expose them to danger.
But, in this official art, they’re both facing each other’s backs, but what does this have to do with anything?

Well, the back is a VERY vulnerable part of the body. It has the spinal cord, which, if damaged, can lead to paralysis, and even brain death.
But they’re both leaving their backs unprotected. In both of their careers, they sustain multiple injuries on a daily basis. And here’s my point.

For both of them to put themselves in such a vulnerable position where one strike to the back could potentially KILL them, that usually indicates a whole nother level of trust. And both of them are wearing their secret identity uniforms. And I find it absolutely spectacular that despite the fact they’re both on the clock and aren’t playing an act anymore, they still trust each other that much, which shows that that trust is genuine.

I looove these details and noticing just how much effort is put into this art!! 🤩

Has Twilight reached unc status in terms of being a spy?

Yes. 100%.

We constantly see throughout the series as he keeps telling himself that he’s failed as a spy, and even before meeting Yor and Anya, he said that he was “on the verge of breaking down.” It’s clear that WISE overworking him is clearly taking a toll. In the beginning, when he is assigned Operation Strix, you can tell he is fed UP with WISE’s absurd demands that come with every mission.

But, I don’t think him being overworked is the only reason that he’s declining.

See, as a spy, Twilight’s whole job is to play a part, and the reason he’s so good at it is because he has no identity. He’s somewhat like a blank piece of paper, a clean slate, so it’s obviously easy for him to really get into that role. But ever since he started playing the role of Loid Forger, you can see that his disguises have gotten worse, like with the wheeler arc, he was caught almost instantly. But why?

I think it’s because he’s starting to get attached to the role of Loid, like he’s starting to form an identity. So, subsequently, as he gets better at playing the role of Loid, he’s also getting worse at going undercover.

So, contrary to popular belief, Yor and Anya didn’t start this decline, but they are definitely accelerating it.

Anyone notice how Yor seems to know the same lullaby that Loids mom used to sing to him every night? Does that mean that both ostania and westalis share a lullaby that kids listen to before going to bed? I find it rather sweet that 2 countries who are constantly at odds with each other and are separated by a massive iron curtain share a lullaby, the same lullaby that kids from both east and west grew up hearing and listening to before going to sleep.

Seriously, how is he able to make a 1:1 replica of someone’s face out of nothing?? And WISE doesn’t make them, because how would they have given him a mask >!during the cruise ship arc in order to disguise himself as the captain and defuse the bomb?!< does he just carry around a suitcase full of hair, colored contacts, and all sorts of materials so he can make them on the spot? The more I think about this, the more I realize why he’s known as the “man of a thousand faces”.
