Researching the Real Operational Challenges of Indian Food Businesses

I'm building GeeCee, a platform focused on helping restaurants, cafés, bakeries, cloud kitchens and other food businesses manage their operations better.

Before building further, I want to understand the problems from people actually running these businesses.

If you're a restaurant/café owner, founder, or operator, tell me anything in the comments.

It could be an operational headache, something you still manage manually, a tool that doesn't work well, inventory/food costing issues, wastage, purchasing, staff management, online orders, reporting — or anything else.

No survey. No fixed questions. Just share what you experience.

I'm using the discussion to understand whaet we should actually build and where existing solutions fall short.

What’s the biggest operational headache in your restaurant/café?

For people who run or manage restaurants, cafés, bakeries, cloud kitchens, QSRs, etc.

What’s one part of running your food business that is still unnecessarily difficult, time-consuming, or frustrating?

Could be anything — inventory, purchasing, food costing, wastage, recipes, staff, suppliers, POS, Swiggy/Zomato, accounting, reporting, managing multiple outlets, or something completely different.

No fixed questions. Just share whatever comes to mind.

I'm particularly interested in hearing about things that you feel should be easier than they currently are.

Would be interesting to hear how different food businesses handle these challenges.

Research on How Indian Restaurants & Cafés Manage Food Costs, Inventory & Operations

My team and I are researching how small and medium-sized restaurants, cafés, bakeries, cloud kitchens and other food businesses in India currently manage their day-to-day operations.

We want to understand the real problems business owners face, rather than making assumptions from the outside.

If you run or manage a food business, we'd really appreciate your input.

You can simply answer these questions in the comments:

  1. What type of food business do you run?

Restaurant / Café / Bakery / Cloud Kitchen / QSR / Other

  1. How many outlets do you currently operate?

  2. How do you currently track inventory?

Excel / Notebook / POS / Software / Other

  1. How do you calculate recipe and food costs?

  2. What is your biggest problem with inventory management?

  3. How do you track food wastage?

  4. How do you manage purchasing and supplier orders?

  5. If you use Swiggy/Zomato, how do you manage/reconcile those orders and settlements?

  6. What is the one operational task you wish could be automated?

  7. If you could have one software feature that would genuinely save you time or money, what would it be?

We're doing this research to understand the Indian food-business ecosystem better.

We'll share the aggregated findings and interesting patterns back with the community once we have enough responses.

No sales pitch — we're genuinely interested in learning from people actually running these businesses.
