If you like guitar, watch this before he plays South Orange next month

If you like guitar, watch this before he plays South Orange next month

This is one of those 'wait, why don't more people know about him' guitarists.

Isaiah Sharkey is a Chicago guitarist/singer who's spent years as the guy artists like D'Angelo, John Mayer, Cory Henry, and Common call when they need someone who can actually play. He's a GRAMMY winner, but as a bandleader he's still early, new album called RED, first real headline touring chapter.

Video that'll explain it better than I can: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TD5U-Xf-60

He's playing SOPAC in a small room, so it's a chance to see someone like this up close instead of from the lawn at a festival.

Tickets linked if you're curious.

Sunny Jain (of Red Baraat) Wild Wild East is coming to SOPAC on September 18th

Sunny Jain (of Red Baraat), Wild Wild East, is coming to SOPAC on September 18th

I wanted to share this here because I think this group of people would appreciate it.

Sunny Jain is the founder of Red Baraat (the Brooklyn Bhangra band; if you've never heard them, their KEXP live session is a great place to start).

His new project, Wild Wild East, blends Bollywood film scores, Punjabi folk, jazz improv, and psychedelic rock.

He describes it as a “Spaghetti Western and Bollywood classic having a love child” ; ) ~

The whole thing is rooted in his own family's immigration story.

It's the kind of show that's hard to put in a box, and one I am excited to see live and share.

Friday, September 18, at 7:30 pm at SOPAC
