Received these for my shop - Wancher`s Unreleased Sonmai Collection.

These are Vietnamese Urushi pens done by an artist called Phan Hong Thuan.

Sonmai (Sơn Mài) painting is made using the resin from (Cây Sơn) tree (known as Rhus succedanea) grown in Phu Tho, Vietnam. Like many Urushi arts, Vietnamese also applied many layers of Urushi, let it dry and polish it for many months to years. These ones that I have are either purely just the (Sơn Mài) art applied or the art along with Raden (mother-of-pearls) integrated into the art

I`ll have a follow up soon with all the pens! Really wanted to share how unique the art is, especially compared to Japanese Urushi pens
