Hi all. This just came through as a lightning notification. Probably nothing, but sharing in case you are like us and need to secure some outdoor items. Cheers.

I decided to apply as a volunteer for our local sar after the k9 hiding training. I just want to say to everyone that is involved in SAR—- thank you. You are all so important and critical. Finding my role as I am torn between communications, signal detection, and my love of all things being on the ground. My family is supportive and my husband said he was wondering when I would join one. Even if I just get to plug in the computers and comms…doing something to help others during a crisis is my passion. I hope to make a difference :)
Hi all, we are still looking at possibly getting a truck out to Spokane with items to help those in need. If you have any suggestions, feel free to drop that in the comments.
Pic is added for traction.
Another resource to help out. Looking for drop spots in our area to get supplies over. Housing will be a major issue…followed by food and the remaining clothing, toys (kids in trauma need some glimmer of normal life), etc. it’s a slow process.
Hi everyone. I'm reaching out from Shelton, WA. Our local community wants to support those impacted by the fires.
For those on the ground or local organizers, what official drop-off locations, shelters, or local relief funds in the Spokane area are currently accepting aid or supplies? We want to make sure any help we send gets directly to the right hands without getting in the way of emergency responders. Stay safe!
On behalf of our family….thank you all for voting. We don’t care who you vote for. Just vote. In the end, we ran because no one was listening to us…all of us. Would I have rather done a 7am calculus class instead of the running? Probably… but in the end, I met so many people who had similar concerns to each other. It’s not about red or blue…us versus them. It’s about one thing: why are the communities left to fail while others make decisions that can’t be bothered to tell us the truth.
So, thank you for the engaging conversations, the community vibe, and doing one thing each day that challenges you. For me, I’m just the data girl. The one that crunches numbers….so this was way outside my comfort zone. The tags are on this for what I call radical transparency, yes I am the wife of a candidate.
To our super mod @thomasfoolery you have no idea how you saved my day during this run by just chatting with me. I owe you coffee and some canned bread jam :)
Hey all, just a fun friendly reminder that the summer weather is here…and the smoke from Spokane. We are drinking water and keeping my mom (she’s 81 years young) inside. Let’s play a fun game…what’s your favorite version of water to pass the time? Mine is iced water with lots of ice and some fruit. This month it’s blackberries sprinkled in the water. Hope everyone is having a fabulous Monday…or at least a decent Monday.
P.S. the pic is one of my favorite places to hike. The flair is because I didn’t see one close enough to what my topic was.
Today started with coffee and pi. All was well. The system worked yesterday. I put in the ssd then walked the doggos. I reassembled the case. Fixed lunch. When I returned, I plugged everything in. I was sitting for two minutes wondering why the system would not start…lol it was me. I forgot to hook up the power to the pi and nas. lol. Still giggling about that because my husband, who I thought was whispering good morning…whispered “power is your friend.” All is working and I am just laughing as I log into my Kali Linux :)
After realizing that I forgot to connect the power to the case…I finally got the system running. It’s time to do updates and install the sigint components tomorrow. This is my first pi build :)
Had to reconnect some ribbons as my mom calls them because they are pretty to her. She just had cataract surgery and she was watching me put this together. After all is said and done…I reversed the cables and had to reconnect.
I did get the monitors to work and it’s just troubleshooting today. Love this freenove quad case. My goal is:
Run bookworm on ssd
Run dragonOS and Kali Linux in docker containers
The jamboree on the air and internet for scouts will be in October so my build has plenty of time.
