Random movie review: Surkhi Bindi had the best written characters

Random movie review: Surkhi Bindi had the best written characters

I actually found about this movie through the song Karmawala from when YT channels were able to post "stories" and my entire family watched it when it first released, but back then I was 12 and thought it would be a girly movie, but now at 19 i couldnt have been more wrong.

The plot was very well built up;i thought it was a bit slow at the start with Rano just being a cranky girl who wanted to go to Canada cus she saw someone go in a limo when she was like 7 but then the way it progresses is beautiful. Rano actually starts to blossom and get a lot more character and her chemistry with Sukha starts to show.

Also Sukha is immensely well written. Its like a man written by a woman which is beautiful to see because, even in my favourite Punjabi movie series of Rab da Radio the power dynamic is shifted a lot more to the mens side but having it be a lot more natural and balanced between Sukha and Rano is really refreshing to see.

Have to also give credit to the side characters in Nisha Bano and her husband, which then helps give more depth and actually a background into Sukha's character and why he is actually so nice to Rano.

In terms of acting, everyone did well. Especially Gurnam Bhullar considering at this point he was new to Punjabi cinema. Super underrated actor. And Sargun Mehta is Sargun Mehta.

9.5/10 would watch again.

I did 3 mock tests with my Instructor during the 10 hr slot i had with him. My results were 5 majors, 5 majors and over 15 minors, and 4 majors half way into a test cut short. The last one came yesterday only. I was fully convinced I was going to fail and was thinking about ways to book my next test soon.

Then the morning before the test, a few more majors. Poor mirror and brakework. It was nightmareish. Me and my instructor were just walking around the car park chit chatting to reduce nerves.

The test came. about and honestky it went by in a flash. Very quick test, probably 35 mins at most. I thought i failed after not letting a van come past on while i was on the right hand lane, causing it to stop and let me through. Then i also was in the wrong lane for a straight exit from a roundabout so had to circle back twice.

At the end, the examiner told me and my instructor that i passed with 6 drivibg faults and my gosh what a relief that was!

The lesson is that you are not as screwed as you think you are. Just breathe through the test, take breaks, and drive defensively. And if you go the wrong way, dont worry about it. As long as u go safely u are fine (i went the wrong way 4 TIMES!)

The movie itself was pretty nice. It had a nice message as well that telling lies puts us into deeper shit the longer we persist with it.

I also loved the comedy. Mintu Kapa (Sabi) carried hard on this front and kept the movie entertaining.

The plot overall was nice as well. Just ur regular lovey dovey type movie. But that ending was not only so unnecessaey but didnt even build up well or had any sense whatsoever. The only direct link was the airport investigation but then getting killed out of nowhere is crazy.

Solid 3/5 movie. Not bad but not great at all. With a better ending could be a 4/5 but thats poor scriptwriting. Very rushed there.
