how does vision insurance for seniors on medicare work when you mainly need help with glasses?

i've been helping my mom with some of her healthcare expenses since she went on medicare, and i'm realizing that routine vision care is one of those things i didn't really understand beforehand. she mainly needs regular eye exams, prescription updates, and glasses when hers need replacing.

i'm trying to figure out whether having a separate vision plan makes sense for her or if we'd be better off just paying for exams and glasses as they come up. i've been looking at VSP as one option, but i'm not sure how these plans actually work for someone who's already on medicare or whether the savings are enough to justify another monthly premium.

for anyone who's dealt with this for themselves or a parent, what should i be looking at when comparing the cost of a vision plan with simply paying out of pocket for glasses and routine exams?

seeking out the best ehr for mental health for a growing group practice

i am currently helping manage a growing mental health practice and we are hitting some major scaling walls with our current software setup. we started out pretty small but we are adding a few more therapists and a psychiatric nurse practitioner next month, and the scheduling and billing coordination is becoming an absolute nightmare. our current tool just does not have the depth we need for multi-provider workflows and custom charting templates.

i have spent hours looking through different options online but everything looks either completely outdated or geared mostly toward solo providers. we really need something cloud-based that handles seamless telehealth, has a solid patient portal for onboarding forms, and can actually scale with us as we add more support staff and clinicians

recs for best portable ac for cooling a bedroom without constant regret?

i’m looking into portable ac units because my bedroom gets unbearably hot in the afternoons and window units unfortunately aren’t really an option for my setup. i originally thought picking one would be simple, but after reading reviews for the last few days i feel more confused than when i started.

some people say portable ac units work great if sized properly, while others make them sound loud, inefficient, and barely capable of cooling a room unless you’re sitting directly in front of them. the single hose vs dual hose discussions especially seem really divided depending on climate and room size.

my main priorities are decent cooling for a bedroom, manageable noise levels for sleeping, and something reliable enough that it won’t become a headache after one summer. energy usage matters too since i’d likely be running it pretty regularly during hotter months.

for people here who’ve owned portable ac units long term, which models actually performed well for you? and if you could go back before buying, what specifications or features would you pay much more attention to the second time around?
