Applying to Promote?

Hey guys,

The library I work at as a page (for basically minimum wage) just opened up a part time tech position which would give me at least 50 percent more than what I’m currently making. My coworkers already have encouraged me to apply, but I’m far below the minimum requirements for qualifications (it says high school diploma “or equivalent education”, and I’m in community college full time with no high school diploma right now, but a diploma is required. I didn’t have a job in high school, but I had lots of volunteering experience. I’ve only held my current position for about 6 months. I’m not able to get a GED currently, plus I don’t have the work experience. The library I work at is tiny with only a handful of employees. I don’t expect to get it, but do you think it’s worth putting in for? Though my coworkers say to, I don’t want my library admins to think I’m annoying or anything considering I have a good relationship with them currently.

Howdy. Burner account.

I’m a college student working part time at a public library. In other words, I’m poor. For the longest time, since I was a little kid, I wanted a nice camera. I finally decided to treat myself. I bought a used fujifilm from a certain very well known buy/sell website that I haven’t yet had any bad experiences with that cost enough money to take me a while to save up for. Camera was in great condition, worked well, only one small issue. The model of camera I bought apparently has issues with the power switch and so it turns off or goes into lens cleaning when you basically use or move the camera at all most of the time. I decided to return it because it was essentially unusable for me. However, I mistakenly chose the option to return it because I “changed my mind” instead of it being not as advertised for some reason. I now, if I want to return it, have to stomach 250 dollars in return shipping, as I can’t ship used batteries through USPS, and so I’d only be getting back about 200 dollars of the actual purchase. If misadvertisement was my reason for returning it, the seller would have to pay to ship it back. I can’t change why I decided to return. I’m so poor right now. Paying for gas and car insurance is hard enough, and my phone bill is due tomorrow, and although I can afford it, it would be so much easier had I not stretched myself thin for a dumb camera. I don’t know how I could be such an idiot. Now, instead of my longtime dream camera, I’m stuck with a stupid useless financial burden that I can’t really even take photos on. I’m so upset.
