First bass!!!

Nothing impressive, but was too proud to not show off my first bass. I was casting and reeling the Texas rigged creme minnow through that Lilly patch, but a nice fisherman walked by and gave me the advice to cast it in and twitch, no reeling (I assumed “unless there’s slack” was implied) until I felt a bite. Took about 5 casts after he walked away for this guy to bite. Hope he was still in earshot to hear me yelling happily! Only started last fall, this is my first fish that isn’t a bluegill or a pickerel.

You guys and/or gals remember your first bass??

How long before you switch it up?

How long do you guys usually try a lure before you decide it isn’t gonna work and it’s time to try something else, either a different lure or spot? I don’t want to be impatient, but I also dont know when it’s time to switch it up. I’ll normally give it like 20-30 casts before I change my setup, whether it’s a different plastic on a current setup or a new type of lure entirely. Is that too soon to know it won’t work?
