iced strawberry hojicha

- 6.5g of tanuki from kumatcha
- homemade strawberry jam
- 130ml oatside

This ratio made it taste and feel like a smooth strawberry and chocolate milkshake. The tanginess of the strawberry compliments the dark chocolate note of the tanuki, and the sweetness from the jam mellowed down the roastedness just enough to highlight the nutty flavor.

my hojicha avoidant cousin loved it so much that they finished half of it 😆

chinese matcha

I was torn between adoleaf, Qingxi, and Moli matcha so I went with neither got the ren variant.

First impression: It’s pretty good. If you’re a beginner to matcha then this is a nice entry point. At first sip, you can taste the saltiness and buttery notes. There’s some umaminess to it and the taste mellows down to roasted nut. No bitterness and aftertaste.

Idrk if there’s a taste difference but I used a frother for this. Will try cold whisking it next time to see if there’s any notable difference

recipe: 4.5g matcha -> 10g to make a paste/dissolve all powder -> 20g to whisk -> 100g of oatside

overall, I’d say this is worth it naman for 490.

Matcha Fest Pasabuy Aug 13

I’ll be going to The Matcha Co and Take Five for their Hojicha and will be dropping by other booths too. I’m opening a few slots for pasabuy, and for Kumatcha’s Secret 1 refill too (only 3 slots for this). Will prio those who will be getting it in tins too.

Fee: 50 pesos per item
MOD: SDD (lalamove, joyride, angkas, move it). J&T for those who live in the province.

As usual, payment is after the matcha is secured but I’ll be requiring a 100 pesos DP. No cancellation of orders after securing the matcha.

loc: Marikina

Frequently Asked Questions:
- kumatcha’s 30g refill is in a sealed pouch done by them. They do require a tin can to store it though
- kumatcha offers old tin can designs for 80 pesos
- yes I can buy from other stores too. yes I can buy other items.

DM if interested. For Kumatcha, will only accept orders until 8AM as they do sell out fast.

ic: matcha fest pasabuy on the 11th?

Me and my friends are going to the matcha fest on the 11th during opening time! Is anyone interested in pasabuy?

pasabuy fee is 10% of total bill. payment is after the matcha is secured but I require a downpayment po. 100% no cancellation after matcha is bought. I can also buy other stuff (chasen, whisk, etc) if you need or want one.

transactions will be made via instagram to ensure safety on both sides.

here’s things to take notes:

- kumatcha: max of 1 tin per variant. 1000g per refill. They sell their old tin cans for those who wants to buy the refill but has no tin can
- Kyoto house: max of 1 rin per variant too.

matcha and hojicha recos for beginner?

Hi! I’m not new to drinking these two but I am a beginner in making my own drinks. I’m looking for local matcha and hojicha brands (can be magkaiba) that’s beginner friendly and accessible. The ones that I was considering kasi are sold out atm and when they do restock, parang concert ticket selling sa bilis maubos 🥹 I am also looking into Moli and Qingxi Matcha so if there are newbies na nakatry, how is it? (taste and difficulty in preparing and scaling)

I am not great when it comes to describing notes but I prefer matcha that’s nutty and creamy. I’m fine with bitterness but not too umami (if that makes sense). I’ll be adding a variety of syrups to the drinks too — adding this info lang cause I know some matcha powders are better on their own.

For hojicha, medium roast is preferred but I’m good with dark roast too. Chocolate note’s fine too tho I prefer a variant thats not too grainy. Something similar to the hojicha from Hoshi House.

Tips and advices for newbie matcha makers are very much appreciated too. Thank you! 💗
