sweet & creamy (little to no bitterness) matcha recos??

hi!! i’ve recently been searching for suggestions on matcha powders with a flavor profile that’s sweet, creamy, mildly nutty (maybe even chocolatey), and with little to no bitterness. which among these is/are the most worth it?? and where do you suggest i buy them from? you may also suggest your fav flavors if not on the list 🙏🏻 thank you so much! :)

Kada “Meicha” Matcha

Tried the new “Meicha” variant from Kada Matcha and honestly, it surprised me a lot 😭

Their flavor profile says rich umami with no bitterness, but upon trying it at 75°C (4g matcha + 100g milk), the bitterness was actually pretty strong for me with slight astringency. Coming from sweeter, nutty-finish matchas like my Hoshi, this felt WAY bolder and more full-bodied. I think Hoshi’s flavor gets really mellowed down with milk. The umami and sweetness are still there, but I can’t really taste its nutty notes.

At first, I was shocked because I had to add more milk and sweetener than I usually do 😭 But once balanced properly, I started appreciating it more. The matcha flavor is very strong and really cuts through milk, which makes me think this would work SO well for creative drinks.

Compared to their older mixed cultivar variant, this one feels deeper, less light, and microfoams much better too. The old one was lighter, more astringent, and had only slight bitterness.

Will try to do more creative drinks with her.

Thoughts on Matcha Shaker?

I'm planning to buy this Matcha Shaker. Para makapagdala ng matcha on the go.

This shaker + Oat. Then bili na lang ng ice sa madadaanan na 711. 😁

May nakagamit na ba neto? Literal na shake shake lang ba? Hahaha.

What about sa water? warm or cold brewing? 😄 Thanks in advanced.

is this okay for matcha latte

Very limited stocks mga oat milk samin. Me and my driend started sourcing but so limited talaga. Is this ok for matcha latte? Tbh, mas lamang yung lasa ng oat talaga even with 5g of matcha.

Chako lab dual layer or Owala smoothsip for your matcha

Halu! I’m planning to get an insulated bottle for my matcha and I’m stuck between the chako lab dual layer and the owala smoothsip slider.

Ang galing may glass interior siya!! I can actually see my matcha inside and ang cute ng colors available. My only concern is the straw parang ang hassle niya dalin and lagay sa bag whenever I go out? Not really a fan ng straw sa tumblers. Hehe.

For the Owala smoothsip naman, I like how practical and easy it seems to bring around when going out. And I read somewhere here na leak proof siya. I prefer leak proof sana para malagay sa bag kasi may tumbler din ako for my water and yun usually ang bitbit ko. Also dalawa lang colors available on their Shopee account right now, black and white lang (12oz).

What are your thoughts? I’m open to recos too! Thanks in advance!

MOTD: "My Chocolatey Buddy"

Tried another "high end" Chinese Matcha powder recently and DAMN. Might be the perfect "chocolate" flavor profile matcha powder when made into Latte form. Imho it's actually better than Tennouzan when compared as lattes. Really reminds me of high quality 60-70% Dark chocolate.

Powder is Gui Tea Zhǎn Lǜ.

Okumidori

Tried it with no sweetener. I could taste more of the umami (and the nuttiness?? I’m not so sure how ‘nutty’ is supposed to taste like lol). Still no bitterness. Very balanced. Medium bodied. Layers easily even though i did not do a very good job whisking it into a microfoam today haha

Fun fact

I love matcha ever since, even before it became a trend pero di ako marunong mag distinguish ng notes HAHA. I just like mine balanced, not too sweet and smooth. When buying matcha tuloy I don’t know what to choose since di ko alam difference ng notes 😭

worth it ba ito?

hello! i came across this dual-use cup by civago and got curious. has anyone here tried using it? do you think it’s worth buying, especially for my go-to matcha?

u/TheChildOfGodHere — 1 day ago

is it just me or does matcha tastes better in an insulated tumbler?

matcha in my sunnies flask just hits different i fear.

YK vs MK?

I have three on my to-try list:
- YK Ogurayama
- YK Shikibu no Mukashi
- MK Chigi No Shiro

Which one should I get?

I have tried MK Wako and Yugen and tbh, I found them a bit light. I think I like my matcha strong, full bodied, with a little bit of bitterness. For reference I liked Gokago Shin.

I’m leaning towards YK, though a bit skeptical, as reviews describe it as seaweedy/fishy. I’m not sure if I like that but some say it’s just the umami. And then for Shikibu, I’ve read somewhere that the matcha flavor disappears in latte form? Is it true?

I’m thinking Chigi No Shiro might just taste very similar to Yugen and Wako.

Pls help me out! The resale price is so steep I can’t buy everything (ಥ﹏ಥ)
