Hi! Me and my future husband will have a wedding on 26 September in Lublin and we need one more witness for our marriage to take place. I am from another country and he is from Poland but our families are not close to us so we hoped we will find another person that would want to be there for us. The help will be greatly appreciated since will be such a special moment in our life. Everyone who is interested or want more details can write me a DM. :)

I want to write my story, experiences and insights to give hope but also to show some aspects of online dating and life after that.

So I made a post in January 2025 on this subreddit and after a while I was contacted by a boy from another country. We talked the first day on Reddit but then we switched to Discord to actually hear and see each other. We had common hobbies, passions and life visions so I decided to give him a chance. Not long after we met I traveled to his country cause we are both from Europe and confirmed on my skin that we are good in real life too. Then after 3 weeks I had to leave and had to make the decison in which country to live so I choose his. Here are some of my insights:

- we mainly talk in English but I had to learn the language of his country to function alone;

- there are a ton of documents to be done and he was there at every step to guide me cause otherwise I will never do it;

- it took me a lot of time to have a casual conversation with his family due to the language barrier and he is always a translator;

- the life together is so different than the online one because when you see someone every day in their natural state your perspective about them can change;

- cultural differences can be hard sometimes but is always important to understand someone childhood, way of life and ties with their country.

This are just a few aspects I noticed in our relationship. It was hard to find an ace person but is always worth it for the right person. I cannot say that everything is perfect all the time but with hard work we somehow managed it. We sometimes talk about the fact that if we never had the courage to search in other countries we don't know if we could find the right person for us in our own country. I encourage you to be brave and try cause in the end you never know what an interaction on this subreddit can lead to. :)

I am from another country and he is from Poland but our families are not close to us so we tought maybe we will find here two Polish people that will want to take part as witnesses. Also someone who wants to say the Polish vows in English for me since I am a foreigner. The help will be greatly appreciate since will be such a special moment for us. Hey! De 3 ani sunt căsătorită în Polonia cu un polonez şi mă gândeam dacă mai sunt persoane cu relații internaționale şi cum au perceput acestea diferențele culturale. O să încep eu prima dar sunt entuziasmată să aud și poveștiile voastre.

1. Limba poloneză este una dintre cele mai dificile când este vorba de gramatică și structură. După ceva ani devine mai uşor de înțeles dar încă mai lucrez mult la pronunție și mai am probleme să înțeleg polonezii care vorbesc foarte repede.

2. Mâncarea nu este atât de diferită dar cu siguranțâ are alt gust. Ciorbele pentru mine au fost destul de greu de acceptat deoarece majoritatea sunt făra legume și au un gust acrișor-amar. Nu mai zic cât de dor îmi este de un kebab românesc că aici pun doar salată și carne în majoritatea timpului.

3. Birocrația este ceva de groază și dacă nu era soțul meu nu cred că aveam actele in regulă. Doamnele din majoritatea instituțiilor nu știu engleză și nu te ajută cu nimic dacă nu ști tu poloneză. Nu mai zic că toată lumea crede că sunt din Ucraina pentru că nu sunt prea mulți români aici.

4. Familia lui a fost destul de rece la început căci nu înțelegeau de ce a ales pe cineva din altă țara dar cu timpul s-au schimbat. Ei nu știu engleză așa ca a trebuit să învăț eu poloneză ca să ne înțelegem.

5. Polonezii nu sunt aşa vorbăreți şi expresivi. Când am venit aici vorbeam destul de tare și expresiv dar cu timpul m-am mai temperat. Soțul mi-a zis că oamenii se sperie când mă aud vorbind aşa și am devenit și eu mai tăcută.
