Polanco

He had only 137 At Bats this season
If there is a season and he is on the team…how many games would he realistically be expected to play?
Let’s say he plays 1 game/series…that means he is playing 54 games in the season…which isn’t amazing…but considering his inconsistent health…is that the only true option?

The Power of Friendship

Whatever happens with the playoffs…there is a surprising kinship with this team…it’s unfortunate there was a giant ass losing streak early on…
A few switched pieces around and this team objectively rivals 2024
I say with as much as I love the 2024 season, it was sheer luck more so than it was talent, this is a more talented roster with a few expensive pieces that occasionally do something of value

Garth Brooks

I am reading that he signed a very short-term spring training deal in 2000 for his charity and that’s really funny to me for some reason…

2027

Do we want to see a new batting core next year or does this one seem more consistent?
It feels like
Soto, Lindor, Benge, Ewing, Young are the everyday guys
Maybe Bichette if he opts-in

Alvarez and Torrens alternating
Vientos and Baty are possibly being traded.

It appears that other than Polanco…batting is remarkably consistent…
If we were adding someone new…does it come from the farm or from free agency?

Semien

Is there any reason he can’t be the Designated Hitter and put someone else at 2B?
We don’t need to play Alvarez every day in a way we probably need Semien to just to make that big stupid contract worth something.
Ideally Semien plays the rest of the games this season and he quietly plays half the games next season and is DFA’d in 2028
That’s honestly the best way to minimize his presence without fully wasting the remainder of his lumbering contract and salary

Statistics

Maybe I’m in the minority but it feels like all the stat stuff being as prevalent as it is really breaks the illusion of players just being talented people with the ability to call their shots
I get why they exist but does it feel like we don’t get any more miracle plays ever since everything became a race to get a statistical advantage?

The Soto Sweepstakes

Will we ever see a Fierce Free Agency Battle between the Mets and Yankees that surpasses the Soto Sweepstakes from 2024 in terms of hype, though not necessarily in terms of money or years?

Luis Robert Jr

Obviously hampered by injury…I do wonder how much he would have done with a fully healthy season…
Maybe 15 HR/45 RBI?

These aren’t player of the year numbers but respectable numbers nonetheless

I don’t think he is on this team next year but is there a place for him anyway?

Season Tickets

To be honest this shitty season makes me consider buying a season pass next year…let me explain why.
My sister moved back to NYC in 2023, decided she wanted a 2024 Season Pass, season started poorly and we got to the NLCS
This year my other sister moved back to NY, and it’s arguably better to buy a season pass when they suck so you have no expectations, and for all we know it could pay dividends

It could just be a coincidence but also every new season is a new chance with a new lineup

Granted…I know this logic isn’t convincing…honestly it’s stupid…but sometimes hope and belief can pay off…

Luis Torrens

He has pitched 2.1 innings this season and 5.1 career innings in games that didn’t matter…my question is why him?
Do they designate him as the pitcher or do they just randomly throw someone out there?

Also it’s funny that he has 2.1 Innings and a 7.71 ERA…that’s not significantly worse than some pitchers

Diaz

He has an 11.00 ERA this season with the Dodgers…and cost them their 7th game in a row…funniest result frankly is him just being shit this season…he gets the ring by sheer brute force but nobody would say he earned it

Hope

I am begging this team to not let me get my hopes up…they do this and break my heart…but alas I’ll be following up tomorrow

Skubal and Boras

I have a sneaky suspicion that Skubal will use the Mets to get a better deal from the Dodgers…
If the expectation is 10/400 then I think Boras is smart enough to know the Mets can be used to ask for even more money…
If he can get 10/500 I do not see why not try.

Bullpen

How many of the new bullpen guys do we think are retained into next season?
It’s early obviously but I don’t want to see them get lost in an overcrowded group

Bichette

This is the 2nd or 3rd time he was caught trying to get to 2nd…no offense but he is not fast enough to get to 2nd if he only hits it to right field
I’d rather him stop at 1st
