Do I need to quit after going to HR?

I went to HR because my boss wouldn’t let me use PTO (she thought it came out of labor hours, and wouldn’t hear it when I told her that was wrong). They corrected her and then she yelled at me for a few minutes then calmed down and said she wasn’t mad at me, but the DM for being mean about it.

I regret it now cuz I’m reading that once go to HR, it’s only a matter of time before you get fired.

I was staying because I need the FMLA for a major surgery in about a year or so, but should I give that up and quit? FMLA wouldn’t help me anyway if I just get fired.

Is going to HR over PTO worth it if it potentially makes my boss hate me?

I have like over 80 hours in vacation time and sick time that my manager refuses to let me use. She says it comes out of the store’s hours for a scheduling shifts. I’ve told her that everyone I’ve talked to tells me otherwise, but she just gets mad and rants that she’s the one who makes the schedule and knows better, that she’s sure PTO comes out of hours for scheduling shifts.

I emailed HR but they won’t answer, and it’s been several days. If I can get ahold of HR, is it worth trying to get them involved, or would it just ruin my relationship with my manager? I don’t wanna lose over a thousand dollars worth in PTO, but I don’t wanna lose my job either. My boss has severe anger issues and would lose it if I got HR involved.

What should I do?

Has anyone else’s managers refused to let you use PTO, claiming the store doesn’t have enough hours?

I have PTO that I’m not allowed to use. She claims the store doesn’t have enough hours for it. But from what I’m reading online, PTO doesn’t come out of the store’s hours.

Has anyone else had a manager that says their store doesn’t have enough hours to let you use PTO?
